Chapter 675: What If

Any other small tribe could not afford such expenditure. If they fought such a battle, they would lose all their arrows by the third day and they would only have low quality arrows.

Now, in the Southern Great Steppe, one small tribe could no longer change the outcome of the battle. When there is a battle involving ten thousands, if you are just a small tribe of one hundred people, then you are nothing in this sea of soldiers.

It almost seems like the Khan army have infinite arrows. Their bow itself is different from the bow that is used by Aoshi warriors.

The forces of the Khan have different arrow. It has longer range and force. The Aoshi scouts noted that if they engage the Khan army in horsemanship archery battle, they would undoubtedly lose.

Because if the difference is two feet or three feet of range, then as long as the cavalry archers of the Khan maintained that distance, they could wear the Aoshi cavalry archers.

And that is not even comparing the manpower that the Aoshi tribe could muster.

Aoshi tribes even if they united all the clans and tribes that is under them, their max force is about five thousand to seven thousand men.

Of course, they are expanding right now and is determined to take many of the tribes around them and quickly increases their manpower.

But in a hypothetical scenario, even if they manage to take down a few more tribes and persuade a few more clans to support them, the max number they could mobilize would be around fifteen thousand men or horsemen give or take.

The Khan would not even need to use all of their forces to destroy this force.

In this war, Aoshi learned how big the Khan military really is. Tens of thousands of men, tens of thousands of horses.

The khan himself did not need to appear if he wanted to overwhelm and crush the Aoshi tribe. He could simply send any one of their generals and they would not even need ten thousand men.

Simply by sending five thousand men, the Aoshi tribe would feel like they are facing tehri greatest threat.

By number alone, the Khan could suffocate Aoshi tribe into death.

Knowing this, hearing the sound of the hooves that cracks the earth, seeing the army that the Khan command, how could the Aoshi tribe dare be unprepared?

The battle between them and the surrounding tribes...should it be continued? Of course, it should be postponed. They are foxes fighting each other.

But now, a tiger is among them. How could foxes fight against a tiger and at the same time fighting each other?

Stop fighting the foxes, focus on the tiger!

That is the right move.

So, even though Aoshi tribe hold the upper reins in the battle between them and Oglan tribe, it was the Aoshi tribe that propose ceasefire.

Oglan tribe were at first bewildered when they got the proposal for a ceasefire.

After all, the Aoshi tribe come with a momentum almost like they are going to swallow the entire tribe of Oglan.

Oglan has lost many of their warriors, and a few sons and daughters of the chiefs and elders had already been captured by the Aoshi tribe warriors.

But suddenly coming to them with a proposal of ceasefire? This would surely make the Oglan tribe felt like there is something wrong about this.

So, they delay in accepting the ceasefire and make a posture like they were going to attack Aoshi tribe, gathering support from the nearby clans and tribe near the rivers.

But in the process of contacting these tribes, they learn something

they heard the news that the fighting between the Ultar tribe and the Brolgadhr tribe is now tilting toward the Brolgadhr tribe.

And then when they send their scouts to seek information, they found out that the Brolgadhr tribe soldiers has bene attacking the west with great effectiveness.

Not it is more than just great effectiveness.

In just a few weeks, Brolgadhr tribe has dismantle many of Ultar tribe defences and is riding through the upper west region like it is their backyard.

This is something unexpected. Oglan tribe would not care if this happens in Chadha tribe. After all Chadha tribe is in the lower part of the west.

But Ultar is just beside the Oglan tribe.

And suddenly the Oglan tribe understand.

Aoshi tribe wanted to defend themselves if the Khan suddenly decided to expand his operations.

Oglan tribe is also afraid that the Brolgadhr tribe would change their gaze towards them so, they quickly agree to the ceasefire. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

Their delaying of accepting the ceasefire is simply because they did not understand the intention of the Aoshi tribe.

Once they understand it, even though they did not have cooperation with each other, even Oglan tribe knew, that once the Khan breach the west, they could also feel the heat.

They too need to regroup, call old allies and tries to unite.

Oglan tribe had felt the limit of what one tribe could do. Unless you possess tens of thousands of men, you should surrender or be swept away by this storm that come from the east.

The ceasefire is established, the Oglan fortify their positions near the tall hill and reinforce their defensive position

Aoshi tribe is now eyeing the Vihur tribe that is now plagued with internal problem. They did not want to attack Oglan right now

If they won, they would then border with the Brolgadhr tribe.

Aoshi tribe has also seen the possibility that Aeryon would be able to take the tribes of the Cha Ner Ul Alliance and it would not be long before those three tribes fall under the control of the Brolgadhr tribe.

Taking Oglan tribe would only open up another front where the Brolgadhr could manipulate the battlefield. They could also try to take Ultar but that is like snatching a food form the mouth of a tiger. If they time it wrong or judge the situation wrongly, there is a chance, that they too would end up in the mouth of that tiger.

They could only choose to try to attack Vihur tribe. Let Oglan lick their wounds and create a defensive position so that the Brolgadhr tribe would waste their time with that tribe.

Create a buffer

Right now, Aoshi tribe needs to try to get Vihur to at least increase their strength.

If Vihur tribe could be taken, the Aoshi tribe would at least have some confidence in facing Aeryon if he decided to quickly attack the north

Aoshi tribe is not sure whether Aeryon would attack the north or not.

But there is always a possibility

And this possibility is making them shiver.

the Aoshi tribe believes that if Aeryon really manage to subdue the west, it would take at least a year or so

That assumption is wrong.

The three tribes of Chagai, Nergui and Ultar is strong. And they do have a chance to win. If they do not have a chance , the other tribes and clans of the west would not have hesitated this much. If the answer from the very beginning is obvious, then the tribes would not have hesitated that much or hesitated that long.

It is precisely because they have a chance that the tribes and clans of the west resisted Brolgadhr tribe army.

But who would have thought?

One wrong move and everything collapse.

Well, it is not really one wrong move. One wrong move after the other.

But even then....even after all of those mistake, if they could have coordinated their moves, unite with sincere heart, the situation was far from collapse

It could have still been saved.

The general trend did not entirely on Brolgadhr side. If they could have....just a little bit more time, a little more trust...but then Chadha die.

That is the final nail on the coffin

without Chadha as the brain, the alliance lost their strategic advantage, as they could not trust each other, and those who could not trust each other could not coordinate and for an alliance, not able to trust and not able to coordinate....how is that any different than fighting alone?

The Khan is probably laughing with satisfaction seeing how easily the alliance crumbles.

The Khan has never feared a tribe or a clan in the Southern Great Steppe.

What he feared is a confederation and that was what the Cha Ner Ul Alliance was.

A confederation, a regime that threaten to change the Khan dream of unifying the Southern Great Steppe.

In a way, the Cha Ner Ul Alliance objective was to create a separatist regime in the west and they would act accordingly when the tides change against the Khan.

The dream that the Cha Ner Ul Alliance cultivate is not some empty dream.

It has merit and it has potential to be realized.

If the West had succeeded to repel the Khan army, then the entire Southern Great Steppe, knows there is another way.

But if they lose, the Khan path of unifying the Southern Great Steppe would be unimpeded. Other than the east, the Khan would control the west.

And then he could pacify the tribes in the north with just words.

By then, with no other way, the tribes all on the northwest would all have to choose either to be trampled under the cavalry of the Khan or surrender before it reached that point

But....there is no what if
