Chapter 523: A Pussy & a F*ggot

"Mages, charge up the cannons! They’re better than your spells..." the captain ordered as the pirate ships drew closer.

A faint blue mana shield had already spread around the ship, while a red signal spell shot into the sky to alert the other vessel—the one carrying Brigid and the rest of the cultists.

Lumine had already climbed down from the masthead, while Cassian jumped down halfway, crouching as he tried to estimate how many people were aboard the pirate ship. It wasn’’t exactly small by normal standards, but compared to the ship they were on, it looked much smaller.

But there was a lot of activity, and just like their own ship, the pirate vessel was also covered in a mana shield. As Cassian kept observing, his eyes landed on a man who seemed to be the captain, standing on the main deck of the black-sailed ship.

Even though it belonged to pirates, surprisingly, the ship had a certain charm compared to the ones they were on.

"It’s beautiful..." Cassian muttered.

The three black sails had long horizontal sections layered across them, almost like elegant folding fans. And the ship itself had a slender body, likely designed for one purpose—to be as fast as possible when escaping after raiding ships or coastal ports.

"It is..."

A voice beside him answered.

It was the captain—a middle-aged man with a slightly wrinkled, beardless face, carrying a spear in his hand as he stood on the mast next to him.

Cassian wasn’t surprised by his presence. He had already sensed the man landing there. From the ease with which he climbed up and the pressure of his domain pressing against him, Cassian could tell immediately—the man was a Third Circle warrior.

"If you help me kill their captain, I’ll make you its captain," the man said with an amused smile, standing there looking effortlessly cool.

He rested the spear against the mast, its tip pointing toward the sky while he held it loosely in one hand, the wind blowing through his long black hair and clothes. Even Cassian had to admit the man looked impressive, though his attention stayed on the sudden offer.

"Help you kill him how? By taking care of the others in his fleet?" Cassian asked, a bit confused.

"Sort of..." the man nodded. "I can handle everyone on that ship alone, but I’d rather not take chances and finish this quickly. So, what do you say?"

Cassian looked back at the pirate ship again. Even if it was smaller, there were still enough pirates on board to put him under pressure. From what he could tell, there were mages and a few First Circle warriors too—he could recognize them from the glow of their domains. And the pirate captain himself seemed to be Third Circle, the same rank as the captain of their own ship, whose name Cassian still didn’t know.

"I can do it, but I can’t jump onto that ship. Even if they come parallel to ours, the gap’s still too big..." Cassian said, then added, "And they’ve got their shields up too."

"I can handle the shields. As for the jump..." the man said before suddenly leaping high into the air from the mast.

"Don’t be a pussy. Just do it."

Then, somehow shifting direction midair, he rose nearly two more meters before shooting toward the pirate ship like a crashing wave.

Cassian watched in shock as the man crashed into the pirate ship, shattering its shield instantly.

He had no idea how someone could jump that far—the pirate vessel was still at least a hundred meters away.

Cassian glanced back at the masthead, then started running toward it.

"Fuck it... I’m not a pussy!" he yelled as he sprinted across the mast, his domain coming to life around him. His hair flowed with a crimson glow, and his red eyes shone like those of a predator in the night.

Down on his own ship, the others watched him attempt the reckless jump over what was basically considered a bottomless sea—no one had ever truly found its end.

"What the fuck is he doing?" Lumine muttered to herself. She had just met up with Theon and the others and was about to head to her combat position when she spotted Cassian trying to leap across.

Thankfully, the pirate ship was moving toward them fast enough that the distance had closed a bit by the time he was airborne—but it still wasn’t enough.

Cassian pushed himself forward, trying to stay in the air as long as possible, only to realize he hadn’t jumped with nearly enough force. Still, luckily for him, he didn’t drop straight down. His body curved in a long arc, and at the very last second, he managed to grab onto one of the long front sails of the pirate ship.

"I’m gonna kill that fucker..." Lumine muttered, her heart practically jumping out of her chest.

She knew he wouldn’t truly die, but that didn’t mean she wanted to watch him drown. If anything, that would be even worse—he’d just keep dying and coming back again and again. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com

"I’m seriously going to kill him..." she repeated, furious as she saw him climbing up the sail with a huge grin on his face.

"I’m not a pussy, you middle-aged faggot bastard!" Cassian yelled toward the captain, who was currently fighting the pirate captain along with a few others.

Both men looked at him in surprise. One quickly turned furious.

The other burst out laughing.

"Then don’t die," the laughing captain said.

At the same moment, Cassian saw three spells rushing toward him. He dodged them and unsheathed his sword in one smooth motion.

With a single step, he burst forward like the strong wind of a storm, slashing through one mage in his path before stopping in a smooth arc, as if the wind itself had suddenly changed direction. Then he leaped forward again in a motion so fluid and unpredictable that no one could guess his next move.

But the spells kept coming.

Ice shards. Fireballs. More magic shot toward him from every direction.

Then, in the middle of it all, a Circle Warrior suddenly appeared and drove a kick straight into Cassian’s side.

Unfortunately for him, the hit landed perfectly against his ribs. freёwebnoѵel.com

Cassian vomited blood as the impact sent him crashing into the ship’s railing. He couldn’t even tell if it was made from reinforced wood or metal—whatever it was, it only dented slightly despite how hard he slammed into it.

And what came next was even worse.

The barrage of spells he had been avoiding earlier came rushing toward him while he was still stunned, his body too damaged to move for a second.
