Chapter 535: Chapter 534: Overthinking What Was Never Meant to Be

Bella stared blankly at Damian Sinclair. Ever since he walked into the room, her eyes had been following him.

Fortunately, everyone else’s attention was also drawn to Damian at that moment, so no one noticed her unusual behavior.

Damian was wearing a beige overcoat today, paired with a turtleneck sweater and casual pants, making his entire figure look tall and striking, with legs that seemed at least a meter and a half long.

He mentioned having a meeting at the company earlier, so this slightly casual outfit must have been changed into after leaving the company.

Bella’s gaze lingered unabashedly over him. Despite it only being a short time since they last met, why did seeing him again feel like a lifetime had passed?

His appearance was as handsome and striking as ever, and she had once traced the contours of his face and features countless times with her fingers.

But now, since he entered the room, he didn’t even glance in her direction.

He was like a dazzling sun, surrounded by everyone, his brilliance hurting her eyes.

Bella felt a dull ache in her heart, silently lowered her eyes, and withdrew her gaze.

Now, she and he were completely people from two different worlds; those unrealistic desires should have been hidden away long ago.

Just like the moment she saw him appear, she thought to herself, did he invest in the movie "Brocade River and Mountain" for her, and was it possible he invested in "Life and Death" also for her?

But as soon as this thought surfaced, Bella pushed it deep back down inside her heart.

Sometimes, things that shouldn’t be overthought should just be left alone; otherwise, in the end, it’s herself who would feel embarrassed and disappointed.

Bella bowed her head, twisted her lips in self-mockery, picked up the water cup on the table, and drank a sip of tea to suppress the sour emotions surging inside her.

Archer Quinn watched all her changes in expression and suddenly clenched his fists under the table.

Knowing full well that her heart and eyes were only for that man, yet he still couldn’t control his own heart, always wanting to get just a little closer to her.

Seeing her heartbroken over that man, he wished he could hold her in his arms and comfort her well. But with what right, with what role could he do that? As a good friend?

Archer smiled bitterly, never expecting he’d ever find himself in such a pitiful and self-pitying situation.

Amidst a round of casual introductions and small talk, the waitstaff had already brought in the drinks and food.

Director Simons suddenly said, "Bella, this is President Sinclair, you should come and meet him."

Bella didn’t expect to be called on and was stunned for a moment before standing up from her seat.

Someone nearby poured her some red wine with a smile. Bella murmured a thank you, picked up the wine glass, and said, "Hello, President Sinclair." Then she lifted her head and downed the glass of red wine in one gulp.

Everyone was left dumbfounded by her action, including Director Simons, who suggested the introduction. He thought to himself that she was quite clever while filming with the crew, so why did she foolishly drink the wine before saying anything during her introduction?

After all, she was a liked actress from his crew and Archer Quinn’s person of interest, so it was reasonable and right for Director Simons to step in to ease the awkward atmosphere.

Director Simons laughed, saying, "Haha, President Sinclair, you see Bella is so nervous to meet you that she..."

Before he could finish his sentence, Damian Sinclair moved.
