Chapter 793: Chapter 794 – Top Hat – Part 9.
<<I had him in my grasp.>>
<<All I needed to do was to close my hand and crush hit throat.>>
<<All the nightmare.>>
<<All the suffering.>>
<<It would had ended right in that moment.>>
<<...>>
<<But I didn’t done that.>> freēwebnovel.com
<<I WANTED TO MURDER THAT BASTASRD RIGHT HERE AND THERE!>>
<<But.... BUT!>>
<<FUCK!>>
<<I HATED IT!>>
<<I HATED THAT I WAS SMART!>>
<<If I kill him, there is good chance that both orphanage and the Red-Light District will end up getting hunted down!>>
<<Not only that... I know history.>>
<<I know what the New London did.>>
<<If what he was saying was true... About the war as well.>>
<<Then this city will be doomed.>>
<<He maybe lying to me.... But... I couldn’t take any chances.>>
<<I.... Let him go.>>
<<I regretted it.... I wanted to fucking chase him down and murder him!>>
<<I WANTED TO MURDER EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN THIS GOD FORSAKEN PLACE!>>
<<I WANTED REVENGE!>>
<<BUT CAN I DO THAT?!>>
<<Can I murder every single person here, without letting even a single being here who were conducting these tests to run away?>>
<<No.>>
<<I’m not strong enough.>>
<<They have weapons and tools that can stop me in tracks...>>
<<...>>
<<I’ve given up.>>
<<And let them continue doing tests for me.>>
<<The tests got harder and harder as the time would go by.... But I would never mutate.>>
<<I would always stay "human".>>
<<This "adaptability" of mine.>>
<<The researches said that there were few possibilities, with these ones being the best explanations.>>
<<The extremely high affinity – Different people had different levels of compatibility, which ended up causing different mutations and episodes of madness to occur. There is good chance that this adaptability isn’t really adaptability, but just extremely powerful compatibility, a powerful enough to cause a never-before-seen reaction like these.>>
<<The first mutation – There is good chance that this adaptability to the blood was caused by my very first mutation, a one that happed the moment I got injected for the very first time with that blood. An extremely rare mutations.>>
<<Bloodline ability – They are still suspecting that there may had been some sort of special bloodline about my family, like we were somehow related to the divine beings.... But they still couldn’t find any connections.>>
<<And the last theory is the most simplest one.>>
<<It is my very own ability that I was never aware of.>>
<<Honestly... I don’t know anything... I really don’t.>>
<<It is not like I’m hiding a "BIG JUICY SECRET!" No. I really have no physical clue regarding what is going on.>>
<<I don’t know WHY I have this ability!>>
<<I REALLY HAVE NO IDEA WHY I HAVE IT!>>
<<...>>
<<But for them? It is a pure blessing.>>
<<Thanks to my blood, they were able to somewhat improve the diluted version of the divine blood, making it way less "rampaging" in nature.>>
<<The mutations apparently became way more "tame" in nature, resulting in way less victims.>>
<<....>>
<<I’ve asked about Anne.>>
<<What happened to her.>>
<<One day she was suddenly gone.>>
"..."
"She died."
"Her mutations killed her."
<<That is what they said.>>
<<Apparently Anne potential was far too powerful, but her compatibility alone wasn’t so great, resulting in the abomination that the researchers couldn’t understand.>>
<<The day that I came, Anne apparently was still normal.>>
<<She was still a person, even after the experiment.>>
<<...>>
<<I wanted to kill them.>>
<<I wanted to FUCKING kill them all!>>
<<ESPECIALLY THAT FUCKING BITCH!>>
<<Doctor Audrey.>>
<<She was the bitch who was experimenting on me directly.>>
<<She is also the head researcher regarding the "Red Blood" project.>>
<<....But.... FUCK!>>
<<I CAN’T EVEN LIFT A FINGER ON HER!>>
<<I FUCKING CAN’T!>>
<<I’M STILL NOTHING MORE THAN PATHETIC PRISONER!>>
<<...>>
<<Julian isn’t here.>>
<<He is the first victim from the city that has went missing.>>
<<From what I’ve had gathered, these people were kidnapping some people that were living outside of the city as well... But Julian was the first city victim.>>
<<I’ve asked around.>>
<<But I found nothing.>>
<<No matter how much I’ve asked, no matter how much I’ve begged, they couldn’t provide me with answer.>>
<<They are saying that it wasn’t their doing.>>
<<...>>
<<I don’t fucking trust them.>>
<<Of all the fucking victims that went missing, the very first victim, it wasn’t THEIR doing!?>>
<<BULLSHIT I SAY!>>
<<...>>
<<But why would they hide it?>>
<<They told me what happened to Anne! They fucking told me what exactly happened to her!>>>
<<BUT NOT HIM?!>>
<<WHY?!>>
<<...>>
<<That monster incident from back then.... Then one that attacked the food delivery to the city.>>
<<Was it by any chance their doing?>>
<<Julian went missing while investigating that missing food delivery case.>>
<<But later on, Eli told me that it wasn’t doing of a people, but of some kind of monster or several monsters.>>
<<However, the monster in question was hunted down.... By the city officials......>>
<<...>>
<<They could had faked it all.>>
<<Fuck me.>>
<<And it is not like I can just "investigate" it.>>
<<I maybe have more freedom after being here somewhat "willingly".>>
<<But I’m still their prisoner, their test subject locked in the cage.>>
<<And, so... I had no choice.>>
<<I’ve been stuck here for more than half a year by now.... According to them it has almost been 8 months.... 8 fucking months... Since I’ve was trapped here.... What about everybody at the orphanage? What about the red-light district? Is everybody fine there?>>
<<They told me that they will keep their hands off the people there.... But can I trust them?>>
<<How can I trust them?>>
<<...>
<<Do I even have ability to resist them?>>
<<...>>
<<I don’t know.... I really don’t know.... Maybe I should had given up......>>
<<Should I just become their "weapon"?>>
<<...>>
<<However, at the time, I wasn’t aware.>>
<<That there was another layer of this laboratory, that was kept a secret from me at the time.>>
<<And there was another special being like me out there.>>
[Location: Underground facility – Level 6]
"What is the state of the subject?" – asked researcher A.
"Stable.... To the point it is weird." – said researcher B.
"This never happened before."
"He always raged and what not."
"It is like what? 5 months of a nonstop ever since he became this?" – said the researcher A as he stared at the massive cell.
"For the first 2 months he was somewhat stable, but then his mutations developed to the point where his humanity was completely gone and was reduced to nothing more than mindless monster."
"However, even since he started receiving this new dosage of this modified blood that uses that subject blood... He changed."
"Did he regained his humanity?" – asked researcher C.
"We don’t know about this... We did few tests, but the results were... Mixed to say the least." – said the researcher D as he handed over a tablet like device to researcher C.
"Maybe his nature is calming down, allowing him to somewhat recover his mind."
"However, for the 5 months straight he was nothing more than pure animal."
"His psyche may end up taking a massive hit... So... The chances at the full recovery are unknown."
"He may had truly been reduced to the animal."
"..."
"But he is still working, right?" – asked researcher C.
"Well... Yes." – replied researcher B.
"After receiving the new batch of the modified blood for a whole month, not only his mutations became way more manageable for him, but the random outburst of rage also became less occurring."
"He does cause some problems here and there, but it is far easier compare to the previous attempts at calming him down."
"..."
"And his strength? Did it decreased because of it?" – asked the researcher C.
"No.... Or more exactly, we couldn’t check it yet." – replied researcher A.
"The current situation stands-"
"So you still haven’t obtained the new data? Why?" – asked visible angry researcher C.
"..."
"Our orders were to see how he would react to the new cocktail." - replied researcher A.
"We haven’t received any permission yet to conduct the new research."
"Tch! I will authorize it." – said the researcher C.
"We have more than enough data now to start off another research."
"Hey! Pull him out!" – shouted the researcher C as the preparations were being made, causing the massive cage to start sinking into the ground, going to the even lower levels of the underground facility.
It was an elevator, the entire massive cage was made as an elevator, as the creature inside of that cage was brough to the lower level, making the cage arrive what appears to be a ginormous area, which was filled with countless traces of the damage.
Alongside the massive cage that descended down, few more cages emerged from the walls, which were then opened up, revealing several massive monstrosities of countless different forms of shapes.... Which all shared one thing in common.
The color "red" which was the most noticeable color appearing across their entire body.
The massive monstrosities walked out of their own cages and entered the area.
"!?"
"Wait, 3?!" – asked the researcher D.
"We are sending 3 of them against it?! Shouldn’t we-"
"Don’t question me, you fool." – said the researcher C as the group of researcher were watching from the above as the abominations entered the area.
"We need to obtain the best possible data now."
"During the last test before it started taking that blood, it was able to defeat all 3 same kind of monstrosities before."
"If his strength has truly not decreased, he should be able to beat them."
"Anyway. What are you waiting for?"
"Open up the cage!"
"Yes sir!" – replied the hooded guard as he and 3 other guards pulled all at once their respective levers, which caused the cell bars and the magic enchantment that were covering the massive cage to retract and disappear.
"Begin the test." – said the researcher C.
