Chapter 6: Muscle Mommy Emma

"I thought you were just a spoiled heir who harassed the saintess candidate," Norelia commented as she examined the blueprints Eren had presented. "I didn’t expect you to create a detailed idea. Are you sure you’re the one who came up with this?" She added as she looked suspiciously at Eren, who sat opposite her in the quiet library.

"Come on, I did my fair research for my sister’s cure. Can’t you trust me a little?" Eren forced a polite smile, already tired of her suspicious glare every two minutes.

It’s been a day since Eren caught her fingeri... reading suspicious literature here. She was more cooperative than expected. Lucky him. The laziest character in the game actually agreed to help.

"So you want to create a device that continuously absorbs excess mana from your sister’s body and stores it safely?" She asked, her eyes narrowing to red as she looked at the blueprint. "There have been early theories about something like this, but none of them ever worked. Not even on paper. But your design... It’s strangely clear. Almost too practical."

"Oh, really?" Eren felt relieved. The idea might not be his, as he stole it from the game that appears in a later arc, but he developed the units and mana circuits on his own, as he was an expert in electronics.

"How many days will it take to finish this project?" He asked, leaning forward like an eager kid.

Norelia stared at the blueprints for a long moment and let out a dramatic sigh. She slumped back on the chair like the mere thought of working was exhausting.

"Three weeks," she said lazily, crossing her arms. "Maybe a month if I have to do everything myself. I’m not exactly known for working overtime, you know."

"Can’t do overtime? You literally— I mean, read for hours in hidden corners. You clearly have time."

Norelia’s face instantly turned red again. She grabbed a book from the table and threw it on his face.

"I said never to mention that again!" She yelled.

Eren caught that book mid-air playfully and chuckled. "Hey, no shouting in the library."

He set the book aside and rested his head on his arm, looking at her eyes. "How about this? I’ll provide all the funds and help you with work. I’ll handle the mechanical framework. You focus on the mana circulation and compression storage. I need to finish it in two weeks."

"Why two weeks?" She asked, settling back into her seat.

’Of course, I need to return to the academy for my villainess.’ He wanted to shout that loud.

"Nothing. I just thought it would be better if we finished this quickly. The sooner we finish this, the better for you."

Norelia narrowed her red eyes at him, not buying at all. She thought he could take advantage of her after finding out what she was doing, as rumours suggested. Instead, he just asked her for help. Well, there’s no loss for her except that she has to work.

She shrugged. "Well, whatever. Let’s finish this quickly, and don’t ever show me your face again."

"Isn’t that a bit harsh?" He frowned sarcastically, but she walked away.

After his discussion with Norelia, Eren found himself walking in the elegant hallways of Volsver Manor, looking at the richness of noble houses that he could enjoy for sure.

He sighed and rubbed his back as memories of the game flooded in.

In the game, Eren Volsver died pathetically in the hands of Reinhardt during the duel. A few months later, his little sister, Liora, passed away in her coma. With all of his family gone, Duke Alfric became depressed and was assassinated; later, the whole territory got absorbed into the Royal family.

’Pretty damn harsh, honestly. The Duke might be cold, but he’s been working his ass off for this family and the territory. Watching your kids suffer and then losing everything... that’s brutal.’

He shook his head, a complicated expression on his face.

’Well, I’m here now. Might as well change a few things. I never asked to be the hero, but I’m not letting my new sister die, and my new father get stabbed in the back either. Also, I won’t lose all these assets, and I’m gonna enjoy a rich life.’

Then he witnessed a wonder which stopped his steps.

A tanned woman with dark pink hair was walking across the hallway with a stack of papers in her hands. She was tall with a strong athletic build, and her beautiful stormy grey eyes made her more attractive. She wore a fitted formal white shirt that exposed the size of her body and tight black trousers that emphasized her thick thighs that could crush skulls in between.

Yaa, muscle mommy. Totally his type.

"Young master Eren. I was not informed you woke up from the coma."

She stopped in front of him and looked down at him.

He could sense the killing intent behind her eyes. Well, he can’t blame her. If there’s a club called "let’s kill the scum Eren Volsver," she would be the president of it.

When Duke brought a war orphan girl, original Eren immediately started resenting her. That resentment grew for each day when she started showing her skills and eventually became captain, recently, just at the age of twenty.

Years of bullying, mocking her for not being "feminine enough," calling her a gorilla to her face in front of other knights. Honestly, the fact that she hadn’t tried to kill him in his sleep was a testament to her self-control.

’Damn, she’s way hotter than I expected,’ he thought.

"Young master," Emma said again, bringing him out of shock to see a muscled angel. "I asked if you were feeling well. You’ve been staring."

"Ah..." Eren blinked, forcing a most polite smile. "Well, hello, Emma. Thanks for your concern, I’m well. Just a few scratches."

She froze for a moment in surprise like reality cracked. Eren Volsver greeted her politely? This never happened.

"I see," she said slowly, regaining her masked composure. Her eyes narrowed at his bandaged face. "It’s good that you’re safe, young master."

Eren chuckled inwardly, clearly reading the subtext in her eyes. ’What a shame. I was hoping that duel would put you in the ground where you belong.’

"Young master?" She called him, clearly waiting for him to throw insults at her like always.

Instead, he smiled again, like the most honest smile she had ever seen on his shitty face.

"Thank you for your concern about my well-being," Eren said smoothly, maintaining that polite smile. "Also, I realized I never congratulated you on your recent appointment as captain. Well deserved, I’m sure."

Emma’s eyes widened, her lips opened and closed like a good fish, words stuck in her throat.

"Thank you, young master," she said with a reluctant tone, like she was forcing them out one by one with a pair of pliers. "That is... generous of you to say."

"If you excuse me, I have work to do," she added, walking past him quickly. "See you later, young master."

"Actually, I have a favour to ask," Eren called her out.

She paused, turning her head to him with a suspicious look, like he was gonna ask for her life.

"Can I train with your squad starting tomorrow?"

Then she made a face. The face that could say that a person witnessing a wonder for the first time, like he saw a hot bikini model in a magazine for the first time in his previous life.

But there’s a reason he had to ask her this favour.
