Chapter 22: Lazy Ray
Nobody in the area anticipated Ray to not only disregard Chloe’s request, but he also paid no heed to her presence.
His simple response, I’m tired, was not only courageous but also something nobody present dared to do.
Who in their right mind would treat Chloe in such a manner?
However, what really surprised them more was her next response.
"Okay, when will you be done resting?" She asked, clearly intending to wait for him to be available for a spar.
"I’m always tired." Ray massaged his shoulders and yawned. "Maybe if you give me a massage for like... let’s say a month straight, then maybe I won’t be that tired."
"..."
A moment of silence occurred before Chloe tilted her head.
"If I’m willing to massage, would you be daring enough to receive it?" She asked, her aura slightly increasing.
"You dare massage, I dare receive." Ray didn’t back down and even stepped forward, their faces now in close proximity.
"Then turn around and let me give you a good massage."
"No, I want a massage with you in a maid outfit. Massage is meant to be relaxing, and I can only relax when I see you in a sexy uniform."
At this moment, even a fool could tell Ray was purposely avoiding a spar with Chloe. But then again, nobody could really blame him for not wanting to battle Chloe.
"You can see me in that uniform if you beat me in a spar." Chloe seemed to have expected the response and doubled down.
"Tsk, not interested."
Ray no longer bothered entertaining Chloe and directed Skyler to continue to lead the way.
The rest could only see his silhouette vanishing.
Once their presence was no more, Chloe shifted her sight to Belva, who wanted to excuse herself as well.
"What was the real reason why you were late?" She questioned coolly, devoid of any emotion.
Belva wanted to avoid the question.
It concerned Ray’s privacy, and she didn’t want others to learn of his deed either.
"You don’t have to answer now, but I’ll ask Father later on." Chloe calmly said. The subtle threat behind those was obvious.
"..."
Belva exhaled softly. To prevent the matter that her contract had long been changed, she decided to give a brief answer. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
"The Young Master wanted to seek some thrill and excitement. He wanted to kill some robbers before coming here." She relayed some of the vivid details of Ray’s brutality against the robbers.
Of course, that included mixing in the lies of how he was the one who tortured the gentleman scholar robber and not her.
"Fuck, no wonder he went for Skyler’s balls!" Jake exclaimed in disbelief. "That damn outsider had no moral conduct. He goes after every man’s balls!"
"Do you even have one?" Chloe snorted coldly.
"I–" Jake wanted to retort, but quickly shut his mouth when he sensed her killing intent.
Despite being the eldest, he was actually quite afraid of Chloe, who used to thrash him for fun.
Nobody would even lend a hand to him because Chloe called it discipline and a necessity to improve his combat experience.
"Coward!" Chloe spat when she saw how he went mute. She soon lost interest in her siblings because they were really a disappointment altogether.
"You called Father’s adopted son an outsider, but at the very least, his courage aligned well with the Carrion Household. The latter dared to tease me without any sweat, whereas you cower immediately."
Once she said her piece, she exited the sparring area.
The others also returned to their own businesses, leaving Jake alone in the sparring area.
’Damn you all!’ Jake’s eyes narrowed into a glint of light. He was the eldest and soon-to-be heir as the next Lord of the Carrion Household. Yet not a single person actually gave him any respect.
He knew that some of the servants even secretly talked behind his back about how unworthy he was. They even speculated that he might actually be a son of another father, for not resembling Robert at all.
He stomped the ground in frustration and walked away, his thoughts unknown to all.
...
"How long are we going to keep walking?" Ray complained when he had been walking for more than 5 minutes already.
He knew a Marquis mansion was big, but not that big. This was like a goddamn workout already!
"We’re almost there," Skyler said. He couldn’t understand the need for a complaint when his room was one of the best.
Sometime later, they finally arrived, and Skyler opened the door for Ray.
"This room was handpicked by Father for you." He said pridefully, clearly a bit envious of Ray’s large room that had every resource available. The treatment he received was even higher than that of his other siblings.
But what Skyler didn’t expect was that Ray not only failed to appreciate the large room, but he even frowned deeply.
"Fuck, it’s a bedroom for heaven’s sake. Why is there so much shit here?" Ray cursed aloud.
He proceeded to enter the room and approach the bed. "Who the fuck designed this room? You actually need to take like 25-30 steps to reach the bed. Are they trying to exhaust me to death?"
Due to his prosthetic leg in his old world, Ray disdained walking too much because it was always uncomfortable and reminded him that he was a crippled.
Therefore, he always made sure to put his furniture close together to avoid walking a lot.
"Huh?" Skyler was dumbfounded by Ray’s complaint.
Was lazy his middle name or something?
Everyone would want to fight for this bedroom!
"Go tell Father to get me a smaller room, and preferably one that is close to the kitchen so I can get food faster." Ray plopped on the bed and ordered.
For someone who hadn’t exercised a lot, he had sure done a lot for the day.
To summarize, Ray was effectively signing off and officially slacking. The first hurdle had been passed flawlessly, so only a real clown wouldn’t procrastinate now.
’I am not just Raymond ’Ray’ Carrion, but Raymond ’Lazy Ray’ Carrion.’
