Chapter 58: 58 | She Really Should Have Listened to Me About the Black Cat
"Nonsense." Natasha scooped the cat up without hesitation and started scratching behind its ears. The cat melted into her arms instantly. "See? Does this look like bad luck to you?"
’No. That looks like the luckiest cat on the planet.’ Dante thought, watching the cat nuzzle into her chest.
"It has a collar but no name tag. It probably belongs to someone nearby." He looked around and spotted a glass storefront a few steps away. Cats were visible through the window, lounging on shelves and playing with toys inside.
"Maybe it’s from there." He pointed at a glass storefront a few steps away. He could see cats through the window, lounging around on shelves and playing with toys.
A sign above the door read "Whiskers Cat Cafe."
"Let’s return it." Natasha was already walking toward the door with the cat in her arms.
They stepped inside and sure enough, there were cats everywhere. On the shelves, on the tables, on the customers. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com
But that wasn’t all.
Girls in maid outfits with cat ears and tails were walking around serving drinks.
"Welcome home, Master~!" Three of them greeted in unison with bright smiles.
The maid outfits caught her off guard for a second.
But... the sound of the man swallowing hard next to her caught her off guard even more.
She turned her head slowly.
Dante had already turned away, staring at the ceiling with an innocent smile.
’I really should have listened to him about the black cat.’
Natasha immediately got the urge to leave, but she shook it off. Leaving now would be admitting to herself that she was jealous again.
"Is this yours?" She lifted the cat toward the nearest staff member.
"Oh no, Iris ran out again!" One of the maid girls hurried over and took the cat from her arms. "I’m so sorry. This little one never listens. She sneaks out every chance she gets."
"She made it all the way to the stairs." Natasha said with a smile on her face.
But her eyes weren’t smiling at all.
The maid girl felt a chill run down her spine and held Iris a little tighter. She had no idea what she did wrong but her instincts were telling her to apologize.
"I-I’ll make sure it doesn’t happen again, ma’am! I’m really sorry for the trouble!" She bowed her head quickly and scurried away with the cat before Natasha could say another word. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
Dante watched the whole thing from behind and felt a bit guilty for the girl.
He knew Natasha heard him swallow, but he couldn’t be blamed entirely for that.
’Today must be a day of surprises or something...’ He was just joking about the bad luck thing.
His thoughts came to a stop as he felt something nudging against his leg.
Looking down, a group of cats had already surrounded him.
"What the..." Dante was genuinely surprised. He was sure he had nothing on him that would attract cats.
"Master?" He looked over for help but Natasha was already on a chair with three cats claiming different parts of her body. One in her lap, one on her shoulder, and one rubbing its face against her hand.
She was scratching them with both hands, her eyes softening.
They ended up staying for over an hour.
Dante had a fat orange cat sleeping on his lap that refused to move no matter how many times he tried to shift it. Two smaller ones kept batting at his shoelaces.
Natasha sat across from him, surrounded by her own little army of cats, looking more relaxed than she had been all day.
But she wasn’t.
Every now and then, she would glance up from her cats. Not to check on Dante but, to check where his eyes were going.
’That’s the tenth time he stared at them!’ She caught him glancing at a maid who bent over to pick up a cat toy near their table.
’Does he like cat maid costumes that much?’ She didn’t think he was attracted to the girls themselves since his eyes were wandering at all of them, not just one. It was the outfit he kept looking at.
That thought led to another one she really shouldn’t be having.
She found herself staring at the nearest maid.
And before she knew it, her brain had already put her in the costume.
She imagined walking into Dante’s bedroom in the morning. Cat ears on her head, a frilly apron that barely covered anything, thigh-highs squeezing tight around her legs, and a skirt so short she kept tugging it down with every step.
"Good morning, Dante~ Breakfast is ready~" She set the tray on the nightstand and leaned over the bed, the apron hanging loose enough to give him a clear view straight down her chest.
He looked up from his pillow, eyes half-open, and his gaze dropped right away. A lazy smile spread across his face.
"Master, forget the breakfast. Come here." His hand reached for her waist and pulled her onto the bed.
"W-wait, the food is going to get cold—"
"I don’t care. I’m eating something else first."
His hands slid up her thighs, pushing the skirt higher. She felt his warm breath on her neck as he pulled her closer, fingers brushing higher until they slipped under the thin fabric and touched her directly....
"Meow!"
"Meow!"
"Meow!"
The cat on her lap meowed because she had stopped petting it.
She instantly came back to her senses. Her face was burning red, her thighs pressed together hard and her heart pounded so loud she could hear it in her ears.
’WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?!’ She squeezed the cat against her chest and buried her face in its fur.
She wanted to dig a hole in the ground and never come out.
As the scenes replayed in her head, she quickly told herself. ’There’s no way I’m doing that! No way in hell!’
’I’m his master, so if anyone is wearing that costume, it should be him, not—’
The image of Dante in a maid outfit flashed through her head and she shook it like a rattle before it could fully form.
