Chapter 208: Chapter 208: Useless, All Useless
Shen Daoxing thought for a moment. ’I feel like I’ve seen him somewhere before,’ he mused, but he just couldn’t place him. After a while, it finally came to him. The man looked remarkably similar to the young master of the Xu Family he had killed earlier—the one who was supposedly the son of Xu Xiong, the Duke of Wu’an.
Even though he recognized the man, Shen Daoxing gave no sign of it. He brushed past them nonchalantly, like an ordinary scholar. After all, Wei and the Xu Family’s young master were both dead. No one knew he was the one who did it.
But just as Shen Daoxing passed them, one of the three men behind him, dressed as a servant, suddenly spoke up. "Eldest Young Master, the talisman is reacting. The man who just passed us carries the Young Master’s aura."
A sense of dread washed over Shen Daoxing, and he immediately quickened his pace.
However, he had barely taken a step before the man in the lead, the Eldest Young Master, suddenly appeared in front of him.
A flash of silvery sword light.
Xu Chun attacked with shocking speed, thrusting his longsword forward.
Shen Daoxing’s figure blurred. He executed the Demon Ape Meteor Step, his body leaning back at an impossible angle as he hastily retreated.
Xu Chun’s thrust met only air. He gave Shen Daoxing a meaningful look. "So you’re a Practitioner from the outside, just like us. You hide it well."
His gaze instantly turned cold as he snapped, "Speak! Did you kill my brother, Xu Cai?"
"What are you talking about? I don’t understand!" Shen Daoxing feigned ignorance.
Behind Shen Daoxing, Xu Hu spoke slowly, his eyes filled with malice. "Big Brother, why are you wasting words on him? He has Fourth Brother’s aura on him. He must be connected to his death. Let’s just cripple his arms and legs first, then we can take our time interrogating him."
As he spoke, his figure leaped, appearing instantly behind Shen Daoxing. He raised his longsword high and swung down without hesitation.
Shen Daoxing shook his head with a helpless sigh. He raised two fingers and flicked them backward. A streak of blue light shot out from between his fingertips in a flash, leaving a trailing arc of crackling electricity.
PSHH!
The light instantly pierced Xu Hu’s forehead.
Xu Hu’s sword hadn’t even finished its descent. His eyes went vacant, and he fell backward, stiff as a board.
"Third Brother!"
Xu Chun, at the front, cried out in alarm.
An instant later, he leaped high into the air, raising his sword above his head. Like a brilliant streak of light across the sky, he shot forward with a mighty SWOOSH, his attack aimed to kill.
Shen Daoxing sighed silently. ’I really didn’t want to fight here,’ he thought. ’There are too many Xu Family Descendants around, and their big shots have already arrived. That imposing old man from before is definitely a Spirit Transformation realm master.’
But the Xu Family’s detection methods were simply too effective.
As the thought crossed his mind, Shen Daoxing raised his fingers and flicked them forward. The Thunder Sword Intent shot out from between them once more, striking Xu Chun’s longsword with a loud BANG.
The longsword shattered instantly. The Thunder Sword Intent continued unimpeded, entering through the top of Xu Chun’s head and exiting through the soles of his feet.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Following a series of explosions, Xu Chun was blown to pieces.
"Eldest Young Master! Third Young Master!"
The remaining servant witnessed his masters’ gruesome deaths and was scared out of his wits, collapsing to the ground.
Shen Daoxing didn’t even spare him a glance, simply flicking a finger backward.
Instantly, a speck of blue light shot out and pierced his chest.
"There’s a commotion over there! Quick! Go see what’s happening!"
Not far away, some Xu Family Descendants had already noticed the disturbance.
Immediately, the CLATTER of many footsteps rang out as a large group of people seemed to be rushing in their direction.
Shen Daoxing’s figure flickered and vanished on the spot.
Shen Daoxing had just used Thunder Sword Intent, so he naturally planned to pin the blame on the girl in red.
She already had a deep-seated grudge with the Xu Family anyway; a few more bodies added to her name wouldn’t matter.
...
Inside a quaint and lavishly decorated estate in Taoyuan Town.
At that moment, in the main hall of the estate, a sturdy, white-haired, yet vigorous old man was weeping bitterly while holding a corpse. "My nephew! How could you just die so suddenly! You were perfectly fine! How am I supposed to face your father now?!"
The youth in the old man’s arms was not much older than Yi. It was none other than the Xu Family’s young master, Xu Cai.
"Who? Who killed Cai’Er?"
The sturdy old man stood up, his imposing aura sweeping over the surrounding Xu Family Descendants.
Dead silence. The hall was utterly silent; no one answered. After a long moment, a Xu Family Descendant finally whispered, "We don’t know!"
"Useless! All of you are useless! It’s been so many days, and you still haven’t found the killer."
The sturdy old man couldn’t help but curse loudly.
Just then, a Xu Family Descendant timidly said, "It might be that woman in red. She has already killed many of our disciples. Yes, it must be her!"
"Then where is she?"
the sturdy old man demanded majestically.
The Xu Family Descendant who had spoken just shook his head. "I don’t know!"
"Useless! A whole bunch of useless fools!"
The sturdy old man cursed loudly again.
A Xu Family Descendant beside him quickly tried to salvage the situation. "Clan Leader, don’t worry. Young Master Xu Fei has already led a group in pursuit."
"Then where is Xu Fei?"
the sturdy old man asked again.
The descendant who had spoken before shook his head again. "I don’t know. Young Master Xu Fei hasn’t returned for several days either."
"What?"
The sturdy old man realized something was wrong. "What are you waiting for? Go find him!"
"With so many of you, can’t you even catch one person in this small town?"
The sturdy old man couldn’t help but curse.
"Yes!"
"Yes!"
"Yes!"
The Xu Family Descendants at his side quickly accepted the order and scrambled out of the hall as if granted amnesty.
But just then, another Xu Family Descendant rushed in. "Clan Leader! It’s terrible! Terrible! Young Master Xu Chun and Young Master Xu Hu have also been killed!"
Following him, several more Xu Family Descendants entered the hall, carrying two bodies covered with white cloths.
"What!"
The sturdy old man’s face paled in shock as he turned to look. "My second brother has four sons in total, and now three of them are dead in one go... This... How am I supposed to explain this to him when I go back?"
"Who dared to do this?"
As he spoke, the sturdy old man hurried closer, reaching out to lift the white cloths.
A nearby Xu Family Descendant quickly tried to stop him. "Clan Leader, don’t!"
The sturdy old man shot them a vicious glare. "What do you think you’re doing? Can’t I even see them one last time?"
The descendants were frozen in fear. "N-No, that’s not it!"
The sturdy old man then reached out and pulled back the white cloth covering Xu Chun. He recoiled in shock. On the stretcher were only mangled, fragmented pieces of flesh; Xu Chun’s appearance was completely unrecognizable.
"Which god-damned bastard did this?"
Aghast, the old man reached out again and uncovered Xu Hu’s body. He immediately saw the dark, gaping hole in Xu Hu’s forehead.
The sturdy old man leaned in for a closer look. "There’s Thunder Power! It’s that woman. Damn it! It’s that woman again!"
BANG!
With a tremendous crash, a nearby table shattered to pieces under his palm.
