Chapter 195: Chapter 195: Ghostly Mist Abyss
Without hesitation, Shen Daoxing’s figure flickered and vanished. The next moment, he reappeared over a hundred feet away, diving into the forest.
"Where do you think you can run?"
Yuwen Jianchi’s eyes narrowed. Gripping his Taotie Treasure Sword, he leaped into the air and, from high above, brought it down in a vicious slash.
Shen Daoxing saw an immense blade of light, hundreds of feet long, descending upon him.
BOOM!
A violent explosion erupted, sending soil, stone, and trees flying everywhere.
The large swath of forest before Shen Daoxing vanished, leaving only bare earth and him with nowhere to hide.
Shen Daoxing didn’t stop, pushing forward in his escape.
"Heaven-Peeping Mirror!"
A cold voice rang out as Yue Wuchen appeared in the sky, holding an ancient bronze mirror.
Yue Wuchen pointed a finger downward. The bronze mirror shot from his hand, hovering in the air and growing ever larger before shooting down a beam of arcane light.
Sensing the danger, Shen Daoxing frantically sped up to evade it.
But just as he moved, Yuwen Jianchi suddenly appeared in his path.
With no other choice, Shen Daoxing twisted his body and leaped to the side.
But that brief moment of hesitation was all it took for the arcane beam of light from the sky to strike.
Shen Daoxing felt a power of absolute cold bore into his body, wreaking havoc on his internal organs.
As he ran, Shen Daoxing desperately circulated what little Spiritual Power he had left, attempting to expel the foreign energy.
The Seven-Colored Profound Platform within his Dantian began to spin, releasing streams of warmth that washed over his organs.
"Pfft!"
Shen Daoxing spat out a mouthful of black blood as wisps of icy energy drifted from every pore on his body.
He then looked inward and was horrified by what he saw. Although he had expelled most of the icy power, the remnants clung to him like countless writhing worms, impossible to fully purge. Much of it still clogged the meridians in his limbs and blocked the apertures throughout his body.
Worse still, the presence of this energy sealed his apertures, making it impossible for him to absorb the surrounding Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi.
’In other words, once the little Spiritual Power I have left is depleted, I won’t be able to replenish it. I’ll have no choice but to wait for death!’
BOOM!
Another immense blade of light came crashing down. Shen Daoxing’s figure flickered, dodging it by a hair’s breadth as a large patch of surrounding vegetation was sheared away.
Yuwen Jianchi and Yue Wuchen slowly descended, landing before him.
"You’ve been struck by my Ice Silkworm Secret Skill," Yue Wuchen said calmly, showing no signs of urgency. "There’s no escape for you."
Shen Daoxing’s heart sank, his mind racing.
Just then, Yuwen Jianchi leaped into the air, raising his Taotie Treasure Sword high above his head and bringing it down with the force of a collapsing mountain.
Suddenly,
WHOOSH! WHOOSH! WHOOSH!
Three figures shot out.
Six Ears, Mo Ya, and Da Shi flew out from the Venerable Domain, intercepting Yuwen Jianchi and Yue Wuchen.
"Go, Master! We’ll hold them off!"
the Six-Eared Demon Ape said coolly. His arms suddenly swelled in size as he shot up from the ground and charged.
With a great roar, Da Shi raised his massive saber and unleashed a long arc of light that clashed with Yuwen Jianchi’s attack.
"Hehehehe!"
Mo Ya let out a sinister cackle. With a flick of his cape, it transformed into a countless swarm of blood-red crows that surged forward.
His heart stirring, Shen Daoxing cupped his fist and nodded to the three of them. Without another moment of hesitation, he turned and plunged into the forest on the other side.
The continuous sounds of explosions and clashing blades rang out from behind. Knowing that Six Ears, Mo Ya, and Da Shi wouldn’t be able to hold them off for long, Shen Daoxing quickened his pace.
Shen Daoxing leaped from branch to branch, his figure a fleeting shadow as he delved deeper into the woods.
However, he hadn’t gotten far.
WHOOSH! WHOOSH! WHOOSH!
Three round objects came flying through the air, landing in front of Shen Daoxing and rolling to a stop on the ground.
Shen Daoxing looked down, and his expression froze.
They were three round heads. The heads of Six Ears, Mo Ya, and Da Shi.
An indescribable sorrow suddenly welled up in Shen Daoxing’s heart.
’They might have seemed harsh and looked ferocious, but they were good people. They even intentionally helped me temper my cultivation. They were both my mentors and my friends.’
’And now they had died so tragically!’
Shen Daoxing couldn’t help but clench his fists.
Just then, Yue Wuchen and Yuwen Jianchi caught up, blocking his path.
Yue Wuchen glanced at the heads of Six Ears, Mo Ya, and Da Shi, a faint smile on his lips. "Do you have any other tricks up your sleeve? Feel free to use them."
Neither of them seemed to be in a rush, as if Shen Daoxing were already prey in their grasp. They now had a mind to toy with him.
Shen Daoxing shot the two a cold glare. Though his heart burned with hatred, he knew that in his current state, he was no match for them.
Shen Daoxing scanned his surroundings. He saw nothing but endless forest, as if there was no way out. Only in the distant depths did a hazy, red mist loom, faintly visible.
Suddenly, Shen Daoxing remembered Fu’s words. He had said the depths of the Luoyun Mountain Range were exceptionally dangerous and strange. Even masters at the Spirit Transformation realm who entered never came out. Over the past millennium, countless experts had met their end there.
Until now, he had heeded Fu’s warning and stayed on the outskirts.
At this thought,
Shen Daoxing’s eyes hardened. Without hesitation, he pushed off the ground, turned, and leaped toward the depths of the Luoyun Mountain Range.
Yue Wuchen didn’t give chase immediately, a confident look on his face. But when he saw the direction Shen Daoxing was heading, he suddenly realized something. "Damn it! He’s running for the depths of the Luoyun Mountain Range! We can’t let him get in there! After him!"
In an instant, Yue Wuchen and Yuwen Jianchi shot forward in pursuit.
Ahead, Shen Daoxing pushed his speed to the limit, his feet barely touching the treetops as he raced into the depths like a bolt of lightning.
Before he knew it, Shen Daoxing felt the temperature plummet. An indescribable, sinister chill enveloped his entire body.
Silence.
Absolute silence.
Despite being in a dense forest, he couldn’t hear a single sound from any insect, bird, or beast.
It was eerie.
An indescribable eeriness.
Suddenly, without any warning, a strange red mist began to rise from the surrounding woods, enveloping Shen Daoxing in the blink of an eye.
Not far behind him, Yue Wuchen and Yuwen Jianchi were likewise enveloped by the bizarre red mist.
Yuwen Jianchi stopped and said calmly, "Ahead lies the Ghostly Mist Abyss, one of the five great Forbidden Lands of the East Continent. No one who has ever entered has come out alive. Do we continue the pursuit?"
Yue Wuchen’s brow furrowed. He paused for a moment, then said decisively, "We pursue. The Celestial Slaughter Demon Star is the greatest threat to my Celestial Profound Sacred Land. We must ensure, without a shadow of a doubt, that he can never threaten our Sacred Land again. We must find him, dead or alive."
With that, the two of them leaped into the mist.
