Chapter 147: Chapter 147: This Old Servant Was Unaware of Master’s Presence, Please Punish Me

’It’s true that a person often has no choice, but that doesn’t mean they have to just meekly submit!’

’Submit to death?’

’Shen Daoxing had never been one to just take things lying down!’

"I refuse!"

Shen Daoxing said coldly, enunciating each word.

"Shen Daoxing, it seems you’d rather do this the hard way!"

The withered old man’s expression soured completely, and he slammed his hand down hard.

"CRACK!"

The chair beneath him instantly shattered.

The withered old man shot to his feet, furious.

"Sit down!"

Suddenly, Shen Daoxing pointed at the withered old man and yelled.

The withered old man froze, and before he could react, his body sat down uncontrollably, hitting the floor with a THUD.

It was an obedience that stemmed from his very bloodline, an innate suppression.

It was the suppressive power of the Dragon Vein Origin over the descendants of the Gu Family.

"???"

The withered old man looked completely bewildered.

In that moment of hesitation, Shen Daoxing spun around and raced to the main doors of the hall.

"Break!"

He raised the Great Ming Demon Sparrow high and brought it down on the doors with all his might.

"BOOM!"

A dazzling golden light exploded, sending sparks flying in every direction.

Ripples like water spread across the surface of the doors, but they remained completely unscathed.

"It’s no use. You can’t escape."

The withered old man was already on his feet. His figure blurred, and in an instant, he appeared before Shen Daoxing. His aura flared as he raised his arm and threw a vicious punch. "Today, you will hand over the Dragon Vein, whether you want to or not."

"Punch yourself!"

Shen Daoxing suddenly roared again.

"Huh?"

The withered old man froze. Without any warning, the fist he had thrown veered off course and slammed, with a CRACK, right into his own face.

A blast of golden light erupted!

The withered old man’s face contorted grotesquely.

"You damn brat! I’ll kill you!"

The withered old man roared in fury.

Seizing the opportunity, Shen Daoxing leaped back to create some distance. He reached another section of the wall, raised the Great Ming Demon Sparrow, and brought it crashing down.

Dazzling golden light erupted, and ripples spread across the wall’s surface, but it showed no signs of cracking.

The withered old man’s figure blurred as he charged at Shen Daoxing again.

"Stop!"

Shen Daoxing pointed at the old man and bellowed.

The old man’s feet abruptly stopped, but his forward momentum didn’t. With a THUD, the withered old man’s body slammed stiffly into the ground, a truly pathetic sight.

"How infuriating!"

The withered old man scrambled to his feet, sputtering with rage.

Shen Daoxing weaved and dodged around the hall, searching for a weak point and striking repeatedly with the Great Ming Demon Sparrow.

Logically, with the withered old man’s power, capturing Shen Daoxing should have been child’s play. He never expected to be toyed with so relentlessly.

"Infuriating!"

The withered old man roared, and a torrential wave of Spiritual Power erupted from him.

Shen Daoxing felt as if a mountain of immeasurable weight had crashed down upon him, rendering him completely immobile.

"Nowhere left to run!"

The withered old man sneered and reappeared before Shen Daoxing in an instant.

It seemed Shen Daoxing was about to be captured without a fight.

The little red snake inside Shen Daoxing’s body raised its head, looking toward the highest peak of the Venerable Domain. ’Aren’t you going to help?’

The next moment, from the third and highest layer of the Venerable Domain, a speck of golden consciousness flew out.

A vast, desolate, and ancient aura instantly filled the entire hall.

Behind Shen Daoxing and above his head, a colossal eye suddenly snapped open. It revealed a menacing, vertical pupil and a soul-stealing, golden-white sclera, looking like a demon from some primordial abyss.

As the majestic, terrifying aura spread, the pressure weighing on Shen Daoxing instantly vanished.

The withered old man stared at the eye, stunned. Then, he began to tremble with excitement. "Primogenitor? Is that you, Lord Primogenitor?"

"..!.¥..%."

An archaic, profound voice issued from the terrifying eye. Shen Daoxing couldn’t understand a single word.

The withered old man, however, seemed to understand and nodded repeatedly. He glanced at Shen Daoxing, his expression shifting from confusion to utter shock.

Finally, after the voice faded, the withered old man dropped to his knees before Shen Daoxing with a THUD.

"This old servant was unaware of Master’s presence! I beg for Master’s punishment!"

As he spoke, the withered old man began kowtowing, striking his head against the floor with a series of THUDS.

Shen Daoxing could only watch, completely dumbfounded.

’The ’Primogenitor’ the old ancestor of the Martial Kingdom mentioned must be the Ancestral Dragon.’

’And that eye just came from the third and highest layer of my Venerable Domain.’

’Did the Venerable Supreme of the past imprison even the Ancestral Dragon within the Venerable Domain?’

’Just how powerful was he!’

’And yet, a being like the Ancestral Dragon was only on the third layer... what kind of horrifying entities were imprisoned on the first and second layers?’

’Shen Daoxing didn’t dare to imagine.’

"THUD! THUD! THUD!"

The withered old man was still kowtowing, striking his head against the ground so hard that his forehead began to bleed. "This old servant was unaware of Master’s presence! I beg for Master’s punishment!"

Shen Daoxing couldn’t bear to watch any longer. He waved his hand. "Alright, alright! Get up!"

"Thank you, Master!"

The withered old man scrambled to his feet, a wide smile on his face.

Shen Daoxing had no idea what the terrifying eye had said to the old ancestor of the Martial Kingdom. After a moment’s thought, he asked casually, "Why do you call me Master?"

"Master is the Venerable Supreme, the master of my Primogenitor. Naturally, that makes you my master as well."

The withered old man spoke in a fawning tone. His sycophantic behavior was a complete reversal of his earlier arrogance, making him seem like a different person. Shen Daoxing found it difficult to adjust.

"I’m not a Venerable Supreme yet," Shen Daoxing stated calmly.

"Of course! Of course! But with your talent, Master, it’s only a matter of time before you become the Venerable Supreme."

The withered old man spared no expense with his words, showering him with praise.

Shen Daoxing thought for a moment, then said, "My power is still too weak. You must keep this a secret. And don’t call me Master in front of others."

"Yes, Master! This old servant understands!"

The withered old man nodded eagerly.

"One more thing," Shen Daoxing added after a moment of thought. "When I’m not here, you are to protect Yawei. Don’t let her suffer the slightest grievance. If anything at all happens to her, I’ll hold you responsible."

"But of course!"

The withered old man chuckled. "Yawei is my own grand-niece. I couldn’t possibly dote on her enough, how could I ever let her be wronged."

The withered old man spoke with such earnest sincerity, one would think he’d completely forgotten that he had just threatened Shen Daoxing with that very same grand-niece’s life.

Shen Daoxing shot him a contemptuous glance.

The withered old man paid it no mind, pretending not to see. He just grinned and said, "Rest assured, Master. As long as this old servant is around, I will never let Yawei come to the slightest harm."

...

「Meanwhile, at the Treasure Pavilion.」

The Ninth Princess slowly awoke. Remembering the events of the previous night, a shy blush crept onto her face. Suddenly, she reached out to the space beside her and found it empty. She shot up, only then realizing that Shen Daoxing had already left.

’Honestly, that Shen Daoxing,’ she thought, ’leaving without even saying goodbye.’ She then scrambled downstairs and rushed out of the imperial palace.
