Chapter 1888: Chapter 1887: Little Schemes

"Let’s go check it out."

Upon hearing Shadow’s report, Li Feng pondered slightly. From the traces left in the battle, a lot of intelligence could be gleaned. They barely knew anything about the Demon Clan’s information, and hadn’t managed to leave a single survivor to perhaps extract more information.

Immediately, the group headed into the fork where Shadow found the traces. Not far in, under the firelight, they saw the corpse of an Earth Cave Demon Beast.

"It’s an Earth Cave Demon Scorpion, a common Earth Cave Demon Beast. Judging by the size, it’s probably not an adult, and its power level is indeterminable, though based on the marks on its body, it was killed instantly," Sikong Yu assessed the Earth Cave Demon Scorpion in front of them, combining it with the scene’s evidence.

Li Feng closely examined his surroundings as well, along with the deceased Earth Cave Demon Scorpion. Despite its death, the Earth Cave Demon Scorpion was quite sizable, equivalent to a common car size. Its sharp claws were akin to spears, leaving a row of deep holes in the ground.

The scorpion’s body was fully covered in a thick shell, hard as armor. Li Feng drew the King Sword and slashed at the shell, leaving only a shallow mark.

Though Li Feng hadn’t used full force, it was enough to prove the hardness of the scorpion’s shell, yet this Earth Cave Demon Scorpion was killed instantly.

The method used involved a ground spike that perfectly stabbed through the junction of the Earth Cave Demon Scorpion’s body. The location was near the scorpion’s heart, essentially a lethal strike.

The scorpion’s body remained in a moving posture, while the spike below seemed like a pillar for displaying specimens, raising the scorpion with its blood flowing across the ground.

In Li Feng’s mind, the entire battle scene was instantly simulated. The Earth Cave Demon Scorpion discovered the intruder and launched an attack. However, before it pounced on the enemy, a sudden ground spike struck its vital spot.

Leading to the Earth Cave Demon Scorpion’s immediate death.

"The timing was perfect, and the opponent had a thorough knowledge of the scorpion’s vital points for a calm, instant kill."

Li Feng took a deep breath. The dispatched members of the Demon Clan were indeed not weak. The Cangshan they encountered at the entrance, the Shi Hao they just dealt with—if placed in Ancestor Dragon City, they might not crush the current Ancestor Dragon, but they would surely rank on the Fengyun List.

And not low on the list either.

After all, Sikong Yu was among the top ten on the Earth List, yet even she seemed at a loss against Shi Hao.

Li Feng remained unsure about the strength of the top three on the Earth List and the battle prowess on the Heavenly List on the Fengyun List, so it wasn’t easy to compare, but the combat skills were undeniably impressive.

Moreover, members of the Demon Clan at such remarkable power levels were left as onlookers, indicating the impulsive Demon Clan forces were a gathering of absolute elites.

Sikong Yu nodded in agreement to Li Feng’s analysis and continued, "In the Southern Demon Country, the Titan Bear Clan is likely the only one capable of wielding Earth Element Power with such mastery."

"The Titan Bear Clan is also one of the Eight Tribes of the Southern Demon Country. Centered on the Titan Bear Clan, there are additional branches. This clan is known as the masters of the earth, possessing a strong physique comparable to that of the Lions. They also have a natural affinity for the earth, controlling Earth Element Power."

"Because of the bloodline, the Titan Bear Clan can easily exert Earth Technique. But achieving this level suggests that the Titan Bear Clan presence here is far from ordinary—possibly even more troublesome than the previous Shi Hao," Sikong Yu narrated slowly.

Before her words had fallen, Ouyang Qiuhai chimed in as well: "Mm, that’s correct. At first glance, the Titan Bear Clan seems rough and bulky, but if you actually think so, you’d be gravely mistaken. My father once told me that the Great Minister of the Southern Demon Country came from the Titan Bear Clan."

"Even on the battlefield, the Titan Bear Clan acts as the Think Tank among the Demon Clan. They should never be underestimated."

Listening to the introductions from the two women, Li Feng’s curiosity grew. Mentioning bears typically evokes images of clumsy, foolish, muscular animals without much brain. But the women’s explanations greatly challenged this preconceived notion.

Though he’d never seen the Titan Bear Clan, it’s better to err on the side of caution and assume they are capable.

"We’ll follow this path."

Li Feng gazed at the dark passageway ahead and spoke.

Sikong Yu responded by looking at Li Feng, "Are you sure you want to take the road that the Demon Clan traveled? What if they set traps for us...?"

Li Feng shook his head and replied, "Don’t worry, they shouldn’t do that."

"Oh, how can you be so certain?" Ouyang Qiuhai inquired of Li Feng.

Li Feng nodded confidently, "I have my reasons."

"Firstly, the Demon Clan doesn’t know about our presence; otherwise, the two Demon Clan members we encountered earlier wouldn’t have spoken like they did. So I’m certain the Demon Clan entering the Great Maze doesn’t know about us. If that’s the case, why would they bother setting traps and wasting time?"

"Secondly, judging by the encountered Demon Clan, they clearly exhibit arrogance. But the Demon Clan indeed has the arrogance to back it up. They should be outstanding figures among the Demon Clan youth, naturally proud and rebellious."

"This is evident from the death method of the Earth Cave Demon Scorpion; these Demon Clan members are highly arrogant."

"Moreover, they are heading straight for the Vermilion Bird and might have even prepared to kill it. Such a group of Demon Clan prodigies wouldn’t set up traps; they would rather crush us directly and not employ such tactics."

"Well, these are all your assumptions. Who knows if there’s a sneaky character among the Demon Clan who enjoys setting traps?" Ouyang Qiuhai argued.

"Why don’t we place a bet? We’ll follow your idea, but if we encounter traps set by the Demon Clan along the way, what then?"

Li Feng looked at Ouyang Qiuhai.

"What do you propose?"

Ouyang Qiuhai replied, "Let’s bet on an item each of us possesses. Anything the other has will do. How about that?"

"Qiuhai."

Sikong Yu looked at Ouyang Qiuhai. The bet was too obvious. Sikong Yu already knew Ouyang Qiuhai was eyeing the treasures Li Feng had obtained—whether the mysterious Ice Lotus or the Golden Lion—they were invaluable.

Ouyang Qiuhai didn’t hold back; her eyes fixated on Li Feng. "What, are you afraid?"

Li Feng stared at Ouyang Qiuhai, knowing full well what Sikong Yu had perceived; how could Li Feng not see it? He smiled slightly and said.

"I can agree, but the stakes on both sides might not be evenly matched. Betting with you, win or lose, wouldn’t I be the one at a disadvantage?"

The opponent wanted the Ice Lotus and Golden Lion he possessed. Both items carried immense value and could be exchanged for a vast number of Golden Spirit Stones in Ancestor Dragon City, but what did Ouyang Qiuhai have to offer?

Her magic treasures had long been exhausted, so what else of value did she possess?
