Chapter 208: Get Ready for Our First Night!
The moment the Magistrate disappeared beyond the horizon with Peter Jaint hanging from his collar, the tension inside the arena finally broke.
The spectators erupted into loud discussions. The elders laughed. The merchants began calculating new opportunities. The betting houses cursed their terrible luck.
And the Clark Family members looked as though they had collectively swallowed a mountain of spirit stones.
Victory... A complete victory.
Not only had Tony defeated the Magistrate’s son, he had also forced the Magistrate himself to pay a painful price before the entire city.
Among all the people present, however, nobody looked happier than Lily. Ever since the battle began, she had been secretly nervous. The spectators only saw a duel. She saw something entirely different. She saw Tony risking elimination from the Dream Realm.
Even when Tony appeared to be winning, she couldn’t relax. Then the Magistrate intervened. For a brief moment, her heart almost stopped. She genuinely thought the old man might attack Tony directly. Only after the Magistrate accepted defeat and flew away did the pressure finally disappear from her chest.
Without thinking, Lily rushed toward the arena stage. The movement was so sudden that many spectators turned their heads. She reached Tony before anyone else and instinctively grabbed his hand tightly.
The gesture itself wasn’t shocking. The way she looked at him was.
For a brief moment, she even looked ready to throw herself into his arms. Tony immediately noticed. His eyes widened slightly. Then he shot her a warning look.
Lily instantly froze. Only then did she realize thousands of people were still watching.
The atmosphere became awkward. Several spectators stopped walking.
Everyone stared.
Then Lily slowly released his hand.
The crowd immediately became even more suspicious.
"So the rumors were true."
"I knew it."
"That village girl is definitely important."
"Poor Skylar."
The gossip spread faster than wildfire.
Meanwhile, Skylar stood nearby watching everything. Her beautiful face remained calm. When she saw Lily rush toward Tony before everyone else, something inside her snapped.
With a cold snort, she turned around and left the arena without waiting for Tony.
Several Sky Family members hurried after her.
Tony noticed. Unfortunately... He also noticed Lily still holding his sleeve.
His survival instincts told him not to comment.
The Clark Family Patriarch watched the entire scene unfold. His mouth twitched.
Several elders beside him looked equally uncomfortable. Normally, such behavior would’ve earned a lecture. Unfortunately, Tony had just defeated the Magistrate’s son. The fellow had become the greatest contributor of the younger generation. Scolding him now would look ridiculous.
The Patriarch sighed. "Let him do whatever he wants."
Several elders nodded. A genius always received special treatment. That was simply reality.
After paying respects to the Patriarch, Tony finally stepped down from the arena. Lily followed beside him.
The crowd slowly parted. Many people wanted to congratulate him.
Before anyone could approach, however, a strange figure suddenly appeared. The fellow looked like a walking meatball.
Round cheeks, Round stomach, Round face. Everything about him seemed round.
"Young Master Tony, congratulations."
Tony blinked.
The fat fellow continued happily. "You defeated that imperial fellow Mark again."
Tony immediately froze. ’Mark? Imperial fellow?’
His eyes narrowed. The fellow before him clearly wasn’t from this world. "Who are you really?"
The fat man looked hurt. "Young Master, you don’t recognize me?"
Tony frowned.
The fat man immediately bowed. "I’m Kevin Ten. You gifted your sword to me."
Tony almost coughed blood. Kevin? The elegant sword genius from the academy?
The contrast was so absurd that Tony couldn’t stop staring. Several seconds passed... Then Tony finally burst into laughter.
Kevin looked depressed. "Don’t laugh."
Tony laughed harder.
Kevin sighed dramatically. "Even I pity myself."
The spectators nearby looked confused. What kind of conversation was this?
Kevin continued complaining. "My fake father owns a restaurant in this world. Every morning he wakes me before sunrise and forces me to work."
Tony laughed again. "The Sword Saint became a waiter."
Kevin looked ready to cry. "The worst part is that I’m good at it now."
Tony almost fell over. For the first time since entering the Dream Realm, he genuinely felt fate had a sense of humor.
Eventually he patted Kevin’s shoulder. "Forget about it. Now that you’ve found me, everything becomes easier. The Clark Family library has more sword techniques. Let’s go."
Kevin almost cried tears of joy. The two immediately left the arena together.
Far behind them, another pair of eyes watched silently. The bald monk stood near the edge of the arena.
His gaze followed Tony’s departing figure. More specifically... His gaze followed the golden imperial coin. Desire flickered inside his heart.
The monk slowly closed his eyes. "Desire is the source of suffering. May Lord Buddha forgive me." His voice sounded unusually helpless. The decision had already been made.
Meanwhile, Elsa remained seated high above the arena. Unlike the monk, her expression never changed. Cold... Calm.
A young woman sitting beside her slowly collapsed sideways.
Dead...! Completely dead.
Nobody noticed... Nobody paid attention.
During the excitement of the duel, the unfortunate woman had recognized Tony and shouted his name. One tiny mistake... And her life ended.
Elsa didn’t even glance at the corpse. To her, it carried no more significance than an insect.
A tribe warrior approached quietly. "Princess, what now? The Clark Family is stronger than expected. Killing Tony won’t be easy."
A faint smile appeared on Elsa’s face. "Who said Tony is our next target? The Magistrate’s son survived today. Let’s pay him a visit tonight."
The warriors immediately understood.
Another hunt was about to begin.
Far away, completely unaware of the danger approaching from multiple directions, Tony arrived at the Clark Family library.
After receiving permission from his father, he personally selected several cultivation-manuals. One stack went to Kevin. Another stack went to Lily.
Kevin accepted the books with shining eyes.
Lily accepted hers with complete seriousness.
"I don’t know how much time remains before the Dream-Realm ends. So memorize everything you can."
Kevin nodded firmly. "I won’t disappoint you."
Moments later, he disappeared into a small cultivation chamber.
Tony wasn’t worried. Kevin’s fate revolved around the sword. Any sword technique placed before him would become nourishment.
Then Tony turned toward Lily. She accepted a thick manual. ’Ice Spear Arrow Technique.’ A rare ancient inheritance.
Lily looked at him... Tony smiled with an evil grin.
Lily immediately pointed a finger at his face. "I already know what you’re thinking. Until I master this technique, don’t approach me."
Then she disappeared into another cultivation chamber and slammed the door shut.
Tony stood silently. "Heartless."
After several moments, Tony clasped his hands behind his back.
A dangerous smile slowly appeared. "Looks like I’m free." His feet naturally turned toward another destination... Skylar’s residence!!!
Inside her room, Skylar sat before a mirror. Several broken-pieces of jewelry littered the floor.
When Tony appeared at the doorway, the servants immediately fled. Neither wished to witness what came next.
Skylar didn’t turn around. Instead, she stared at his reflection in the mirror. "What are you staring at?" Her voice carried obvious irritation. "Go away."
Another bracelet shattered against the floor. "Don’t you have a village girl to accompany?"
Tony smiled. "You seem upset."
Skylar laughed coldly. "You’re imagining things."
Tony stepped forward. Their eyes met through the mirror. The playful-smile gradually disappeared from Tony’s face.
For once, he looked completely serious. "Did you forget your promise?"
Skylar froze.
Tony continued. "I came to see whether the famous daughter of the Sky Family keeps her word."
The room became quiet. Skylar’s heartbeat unexpectedly accelerated.
Not because of fear. Because the man standing behind her no longer resembled the fool she had expected to marry.
The rumors, The stories, The scandals... None of them matched the person she had seen these past few days.
Most importantly... None of them matched the man who defeated Peter Jaint.
Tony turned toward the door. Before leaving, he paused.
"Tonight we’ll continue this conversation... be ready for our first-night. I won’t disappoint you!"
Skylar’s heart raced when she understood the meaning behind his look. ’I won’t disappoint you!!!’
For a long time, she didn’t move, didn’t speak, didn’t even realize she was staring at the doorway.
The room had become quiet again. Yet her thoughts were louder than ever.
’Can she really refuse Tony when he stands before her! What excuse does she have to reject him again?’
Her imagination ran wild when she thought about the night!
