Chapter 170: The Shameless Alliance
The moment Tony sent the arrogant Internal Post Stage participant flying across half the arena, a brief silence spread through the surrounding battlefield.
Many spectators had expected a fight.
Some had even anticipated an upset.
Instead, the battle ended before it properly began.
The unfortunate challenger lay embedded in a broken stone wall several dozen meters away while medical staff hurried toward him.
The commentators overseeing the live broadcast exchanged awkward looks.
One of them finally coughed.
"As expected of Tony Clark..."
Unfortunately, nobody knew what exactly to expect from Tony Clark anymore.
The man simply ignored common logic.
Meanwhile, inside the arena, the competition continued growing more intense.
The easiest seats had already been occupied.
The strongest geniuses controlled the central region of the battlefield, creating an invisible boundary around themselves.
Mark Smith sat calmly near the center with his sword resting across his knees. During the last twenty minutes, four challengers had attempted to take his position.
All four had been defeated.
The fifth challenger walked halfway toward him before changing direction.
Emma Rock’s situation was similar.
The ground around her stool was covered with cracks.
Nobody wanted to become the next victim.
Leo Clark occupied another central position.
Several Clark Family members had gathered around him, forming a loose defensive circle.
The same thing happened throughout the arena.
Alliances had begun emerging naturally.
Family members supported family members.
Sect disciples supported sect disciples.
Friends protected friends. freewebnσvel.cøm
Those without support quickly discovered how difficult survival could be.
Three hours sounded simple.
In reality, it felt endless.
Especially for participants constantly facing challenges.
Julie watched the battlefield carefully while sitting on her newly acquired stool.
"I suddenly understand why everyone wanted a seat near you."
Tony looked offended.
"What do you mean?"
"It means people are afraid of you."
Tony nodded thoughtfully.
"That’s a sign of respect."
Julie immediately laughed.
"That’s definitely not respect."
Nearby participants couldn’t help agreeing.
Several people had originally planned to challenge Julie.
Unfortunately, after watching Tony launch somebody into the horizon, they decided to seek easier targets.
Nobody wanted to spend the rest of the tournament drinking soup through a straw.
The result was obvious.
Julie’s area became surprisingly peaceful.
Lily arrived shortly afterward.
Unlike Julie, she had earned her position properly through battle.
The journey hadn’t been easy.
Several challengers still occasionally appeared.
However, none possessed enough strength to threaten her seriously.
When she finally settled onto a stool not far from Tony, she immediately noticed the strange atmosphere surrounding him.
Participants were actively avoiding his section.
Even pathways through the battlefield curved around his position.
Lily stared at the scene before turning toward Julie.
"You’re enjoying this."
Julie didn’t even bother hiding her smile.
"A little."
"A little?"
Lily pointed toward the empty space surrounding them.
"People are treating this area like a restricted zone."
Julie looked around.
Then she looked at Tony.
Then she looked around again.
The comparison made her laugh harder.
Tony remained completely shameless.
"This is what influence looks like."
Lily rolled her eyes.
"This is what abuse of reputation looks like."
Meanwhile, high above the arena, the elders and spectators were also noticing the situation.
Several academy teachers struggled to keep straight faces.
One elder sighed.
"That boy is impossible."
Another elder nodded.
"Unfortunately, it seems effective."
Indeed, it was effective.
While dozens of participants continued fighting desperately for positions, Tony sat comfortably while chatting with Julie.
The contrast made people angry.
Far away, Kevin Clark happened to notice the scene.
His expression immediately darkened.
The competition had barely reached its halfway point, yet Tony already looked as though he was attending a picnic.
Meanwhile, he himself had fought six challenges.
The difference was infuriating.
"Shameless."
Leo Clark laughed.
"You only realized that now?"
Kevin didn’t answer.
Because Leo wasn’t wrong.
Everyone already knew Tony’s character.
The problem was that his shameless methods somehow worked.
As the first hour passed, the battlefield gradually entered a new phase.
The weaker participants had mostly been eliminated.
The remaining contestants possessed genuine ability.
As a result, challenges became increasingly dangerous.
Several hidden talents began attracting attention.
The bald monk defeated three challengers without standing from his stool.
A giant carrying an iron pillar smashed apart an entire alliance attempting to remove him.
The mysterious umbrella woman revealed frightening movement techniques, appearing and disappearing like a shadow.
The crowd watching through live broadcasts became increasingly excited.
Many previously unknown names began spreading across martial networks.
Predictions changed constantly.
Rankings shifted every few minutes.
Nobody knew who would ultimately survive.
Then something interesting happened.
A middle-aged participant with a scar across his face slowly approached Tony’s area.
Unlike previous challengers, he didn’t appear reckless.
His eyes continuously observed the battlefield.
Calculating.
Evaluating.
Planning.
Eventually, he stopped before Tony.
Several nearby spectators immediately became interested.
Another challenger?
Tony opened one eye.
"What?"
The man hesitated briefly.
Then he pointed toward an elderly cultivator fighting in the distance.
"I don’t want your seat."
Tony looked surprised.
"Then why are you here?"
The man lowered his voice.
"Because a group of old Peak Grandmasters formed an alliance."
Tony immediately became interested.
Julie and Lily also turned serious.
The participant continued.
"They’ve been targeting younger competitors. Individually they’re not strong enough to challenge the top geniuses, but together they’re removing weaker participants one after another."
Tony followed the man’s gaze.
Sure enough.
Several elderly cultivators were moving systematically through the battlefield.
Whenever one lost his seat, another provided support.
Whenever somebody challenged them, nearby allies immediately interfered.
The method wasn’t particularly honorable.
Unfortunately...
It was extremely effective.
Lily frowned.
"They’re using numbers."
The participant nodded.
"They know this might be their final chance to enter the World Tree Blessing."
Nobody argued.
For many old Peak Grandmasters, the World Tree represented hope.
Five hundred years of additional lifespan could completely change their fate.
Such people would naturally fight desperately.
Tony leaned back while watching the distant alliance.
A smile slowly appeared on his face.
Julie immediately recognized that smile.
Usually, whenever Tony smiled like that, somebody suffered.
"What are you thinking?"
Tony stood up from his stool.
"Nothing complicated."
Then he stretched lazily before looking toward the growing alliance.
"I just realized something."
"What?"
Tony grinned.
"They’re playing unfair."
Julie stared.
Lily stared.
Several nearby participants stared.
After everything Tony had done today...
The last person qualified to complain about fairness was Tony Clark.
Yet somehow...
He looked completely serious.
And that made the situation far more dangerous.
Because everyone who knew Tony understood one thing.
Whenever Tony became interested in something, peace rarely survived for long.
