Chapter 8: Revenge
Anthony noticed the crowd gathering around them and leaned into it.
"Honestly? Feels more like you rented it for attention."
A few people murmured.
Phones were already recording.
Sean smiled slightly.
"You want proof?"
Anthony crossed his arms. "Yeah. I do."
Sean pulled out his phone and opened the registration documents.
The crowd leaned in immediately.
Anthony’s confident expression cracked the second he saw Sean’s name on the paperwork.
"No way..."
"Bought it this afternoon," Sean said calmly. "Two hundred fifty-eight thousand."
The room erupted.
Anthony looked cornered now, but his pride wouldn’t let him stop.
"Documents can be faked."
Sean almost pitied him.
Almost.
"Alright," Sean said. "Let’s make this fun."
Anthony narrowed his eyes. "What do you mean?"
"If the car’s mine, you admit you’re jealous in front of everyone here."
The crowd instantly got louder.
"And you owe me ten grand."
Anthony barked out a laugh. "Ten grand? Are you insane?"
"Then don’t take the bet."
Sean turned as if to leave.
"Wait."
Anthony swallowed hard.
Every person around them was watching now.
"Fine."
---
The entire party followed them outside.
Students crowded around the Rolls-Royce while James stood beside it like he’d been expecting this exact moment all night.
"James," Sean said casually, "mind helping us settle an argument?"
"Of course, sir."
James retrieved the documents from inside the vehicle and presented them with professional calm.
"Everything is registered under Mr. Sean Miller," he explained. "I personally accompanied him during the purchase today."
People immediately started cheering.
Phones flashed everywhere.
Anthony looked sick.
Sean folded his arms. "Well?"
Anthony stared at the pavement for a long moment before finally muttering, "I’m jealous."
"Louder."
Anthony clenched his jaw.
"I said I’m jealous."
The crowd exploded with laughter and applause.
Sean tilted his head slightly. "And my ten thousand?"
Anthony looked ready to explode.
"I don’t have it right now."
"Then consider it debt."
Anthony shoved through the crowd and disappeared back into the building while people laughed behind him.
Sean’s phone buzzed.

Rebecca found him again not long after.
This time she looked desperate.
"Sean, please. Can we talk privately?"
"No."
"Just listen to me for one minute."
"There’s nothing to talk about."
"You’re really going to act like this?" she snapped.
Sean looked at her for a moment. His expression didn’t change.
"Like what?"
"Cold," Rebecca said quietly. "Distant. Like you don’t even know me anymore."
"Maybe I finally see things clearly," Sean replied.
Rebecca frowned, confused. "What does that even mean? Sean, we were fine yesterday. Why are you acting like this?"
"Nothing happened," he said. "I just realized a few things."
"Realized what?" She stepped closer, lowering her voice. "Baby, if I did something wrong, tell me. We can work it out."
Sean almost laughed.
She really had no idea.
To her, they were still the perfect college couple. Still happy. Still together. She didn’t know that in another life, another timeline, she had completely destroyed him.
"There’s nothing to work out, Rebecca," Sean said calmly. "We’re done."
Her eyes widened instantly. "Done? Sean... are you breaking up with me?"
"Yeah."
"But why? What did I do?"
"Nothing yet," he muttered under his breath.
"What?"
"Forget it," Sean said. "Just accept it. It’s over."
Rebecca’s expression shifted from confusion to panic.
"Sean, please don’t do this. If this is about Anthony, I swear we’re just friends—"
"Just friends," Sean repeated with a cold smile. "Right."
"We are! Sean, you’re overthinking things. Anthony is your best friend. He would never—"
"Stop." Sean’s voice hardened. "I don’t want to hear it."
Tears started forming in Rebecca’s eyes. "Sean... I love you."
"No," he said flatly. "You love the version of me that always says yes to you. The guy who spends money on you, follows you around, and gives you attention whenever you want it. But that guy’s gone."
"That’s not true." She reached for his hand. "I love you for who you are."
Sean pulled away before she could touch him.
"Then why did you suddenly care the moment I showed up in a Rolls Royce?"
Rebecca froze.
Her lips parted slightly, but nothing came out.
"You barely acknowledged me when I walked in," Sean continued. "But the second you saw the car, the suit, everyone paying attention to me... suddenly you wanted to talk."
"That’s not what happened," Rebecca said quickly. "I was just surprised. You never told me you were rich."
"I wasn’t," Sean replied. "Not until today."
He looked her straight in the eye.
"And honestly? That made me realize everything."
Rebecca swallowed nervously.
"You never loved me," Sean said. "You loved what I could do for you. And the moment I stopped being enough, you started looking somewhere else."
"That’s unfair," she whispered. "You’re twisting things." frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
"Am I?" Sean asked. "Be honest with me, Rebecca. If I walked in here wearing my old clothes instead of this suit... if I didn’t have the car... would you even be standing here right now?"
Rebecca hesitated.
Just for a second.
But that second was enough.
Sean gave a small nod. "That’s what I thought."
Without another word, he turned and walked away.
"Sean, wait!" Rebecca called after him. "Please!"
He didn’t look back.

---
At this point, the entire party revolved around him.
People made space when he walked past. Conversations paused whenever he spoke. Girls flirted openly. Guys suddenly acted like they’d always been close friends with him.
The system counter kept rising.
[87/100 admirers]
That was when he met Olivia.
She had dark red hair that curled softly at the ends and sharp green eyes that stood out immediately. She was beautiful, but not in the polished, attention-seeking way Rebecca was.
Olivia felt... genuine.
"You handled that better than I expected," she said.
"The Anthony situation?"
"The Rebecca situation."
Sean smiled faintly. "That too."
"I’m Olivia."
"Sean."
She laughed softly. "Trust me, everyone here knows that already."
Unlike everyone else that night, she never once asked about his money.
They ended up talking for almost twenty minutes about random things—music, classes, terrible cafeteria food, favorite movies.
For the first time all night, Sean actually relaxed.
Then Rebecca appeared again.
Her eyes were red from crying.
"Sean... please."
Olivia glanced between them before quietly stepping away to give them space.
Rebecca looked at Sean like she was trying to hold onto something already falling apart.
"I know I hurt you," she whispered. "Maybe I haven’t been the best girlfriend, but I can change. We can fix this."
Sean stayed silent.
In his previous life, he would’ve forgiven her immediately.
Would’ve apologized even when he wasn’t wrong.
Would’ve begged her not to leave.
But that version of him was dead.
"No."
Rebecca’s lips trembled. "Please... just give me one more chance."
"Why?" Sean asked quietly. "So you can do exactly what you were already planning to do?"
Rebecca looked genuinely confused. "Sean, I don’t understand what you’re talking about."
"I know," he replied. "That’s the problem."
"Sean, I love you," she said desperately.
"No," Sean said softly. "You loved what you thought I could become for you. But I’m not that person anymore."
Tears streamed down her face.
"You don’t mean that."
"I do."
The silence that followed felt final.
"Goodbye, Rebecca."
A few seconds later, she turned and ran out of the building in tears.
His phone buzzed immediately.

A strange rush hit him instantly.
His thoughts became sharper. Faster.
Patterns connected effortlessly in his mind—market trends, investments, business opportunities, risk calculations.
It felt like someone had removed a blindfold from his eyes.
"You okay?" Olivia asked.
Sean blinked once before smiling.
"Yeah," he said. "Actually... yeah."
"Good." She nodded toward the exit. "Want to get out of here?"
Sean glanced around the party one last time.
Anthony was gone.
Rebecca was gone.
The quest was complete.
"Yeah," he said. "Let’s go."
Outside, James opened the Rolls Royce door for them.
Olivia paused halfway inside and looked back at him with an amused smile.
"Wait... is this supposed to be a date?"
Sean grinned.
"If you want it to be."
Her smile widened immediately.
"Then yeah. It is."
They climbed into the Rolls Royce, and moments later the car disappeared into the night.
Sean’s phone buzzed one final time.
