Chapter 699: A Highly Compatible Couple

Wendy couldn’t remember much about Yonina anymore.

However, after seeing her face, some memories flooded back.

"I heard how you got kidnapped and lost your memories," Yonina stepped closer to Wendy, held her hands, and said. "Sorry. I should’ve gone to visit you sooner."

Yonina had been overwhelmed with work, and she had been on one business trip after another.

She had taken complete charge of Collins Group, and she was responsible for dealing with the mess that her father created.

She had only just come back to Lake City that day. After she put down her luggage, she wasted no time heading to visit Wendy and Michael.

"Don’t worry. See, all of us are safe now," Wendy said and smiled.

"That’s great. You’ll be safe. All of you will be safe," Yonina said gleefully.

"Jake, Leah..." Mrs. Lucas walked into the kitchen from the living room.

She beaned with loving smiles seeing her dear great-grandchildren.

Jake and Leah immediately ran to their great-grandmother.

"Wash your hands and come have lunch!" Mary walked out of the kitchen and put the dishes on the table. "Let’s keep talking at the table."

"Sure. Let’s go have lunch first," Wendy said, nodding. She headed to the dining room with Yonina.

Everyone was beaming at the table.

Michael stood up first and said, "Now that we’re all here, let’s celebrate Jake’s and Zess’s recovery with some drinks!"

Everyone stood up after what Michael said.

"Can I drink some alcohol, Mommy?" Jake gazed at Wendy with hopeful eyes.

Although Jake was still young, he was a drinker. Unfortunately, Wendy had never allowed him to drink.

Wendy shook her head and said, "You just got out of the hospital. I’ll let you drink a little in a couple of days. Does that sound good?"

Jake was a bit disappointed by what Wendy said, but he still nodded his head.

In the end, only Michael, Milo, and Mr. York drank. As for the others, they only drank juice.

Everyone was cheering in the dining room with clacking sounds echoing through the house.

"I’d like to propose a toast, to the one and only Milo." Michael poured himself another glass of drink after finishing his last. "I truly am so grateful to you."

He continued, "I used to make fun of you for giving up a business career and becoming a doctor. You are just as talented in entrepreneurship as I am and you could’ve made so much money from setting up your own businesses. However, I admire you from the bottom of my heart, Milo. You saved so many lives with your excellent surgical skills, and you saved my children as well. Thank you, Milo."

Michael finished the drink in his bottle after that heartfelt speech.

It was rare for Milo to hear Michael thank him so sincerely, so he was kind of at a loss.

He scratched his head and said, "Well... I don’t really know what to say... Bottoms up!"

"I’d like to raise a toast to you as well, Mrs. Stewart," Michael said. "Thank you for taking care of us in the hospital."

"I can’t accept that toast," Mary said while putting on a pretend straight face. "I was there to take care of my daughter and my grandchildren, not you."

"Sorry. I crossed the line," Michael said while slapping himself gently. "I should drink some more for that mistake."

Wendy smiled and said after seeing Michael finish his drink, "Are you trying to make up for your lost time with alcohol?"

"You saw right through me, didn’t you?" Michael smiled and said. "That’s embarrassing."

...

"You can drink all you want today. I won’t stop you," Wendy said. "You’re home anyway. You can just go back to your bedroom if you get too drunk."

"I can’t let him get drunk," Milo said. "We haven’t finished talking about the charity fund yet."

"Ah, you remember that charity fund?" Michael smiled and said. "I won’t back down from it."

"I just want to be assured," Milo said while holding his glass. "I propose a toast to you, Michael, for your generosity and kindness."

Yonina asked after their toast, "Charity fund? What charity fund?"

Milo then said, "Michael is going to establish a terminal disease charity fund, and we’re talking about the details of it."

"A terminal disease charity fund?" Yonina asked. "Can I contribute to the fund as well?"

Milo’s eyes shone as he heard what Yonina said. "Of course!"

If Yonina contributed donations, it would be a blessing to those who couldn’t afford their medical bills.

"Unfortunately, I’m very busy these days, and to be honest, I don’t know much about medical charity funds," Yonina said awkwardly. "However, if you need money or some other help, I’ll do my best to contribute."

"You don’t need to know any of the medical stuff, and neither does Michael," Milo said excitedly. "I’ll handle the management."

"Sounds great. Tell me about the details later," Yonina said as her interest was piqued.

Although Yonina was a businesswoman, she wanted to help those who were in financial need.

"Later? We can talk about it now," Milo said as he put down his chopsticks. He even stopped eating his food as he got too obsessed with the charity fund.

Michael felt a bit awkward.

Wendy then smiled at Mrs. Lucas and said, "Let’s keep enjoying our lunch while they talk business. Let’s go watch TV in the living room and have a nice chat after this."

"Sure!" Mrs. Lucas smiled and nodded.

Milo simply couldn’t shut up about the charity fund at the table.

As for Wendy and the others, they went to the living room after they were full.

Milo, Michael, and Yonina talked about the charity fund until five, and it wasn’t until Milo received an urgent phone call from his hospital did he say to Michael and Yonina, "There’s something I need to deal with in the hospital. I have to leave now.

As for the charity fund, I’ll make a detailed proposal tonight, and if both of you think the proposal is okay, we’ll start the process."

"Sure!" Michael said while waving goodbye to Milo.

After Milo left, Michael smiled and looked at Yonina. He asked, "What do you think of Milo?"

"He’s great," Yonina nodded and said, "After such a long conversation with him, I can tell that he’s a loving and generous person and that he wants to help as many people as possible. Besides, I heard that he’s a great surgeon as well."

"What about him as a person?" Michael asked. "I was talking about him, like personally."

Yonina immediately understood what Michael was implying. She smiled and asked, "Is he the person you were trying to set me up with?"

Michael and Wendy did try to set Yonina up with Milo, however, Yonina rejected.

She did know who Milo was, but she had never had any meaningful contact with him before this.

She only met Milo when she went to the hospital.

Michael nodded and whispered, "What do you think about him? Are you ready to give him a second chance?" frёeweɓηovel.coɱ

"Well..." Yonina said and lowered her head as her smile froze. "I don’t think it only depends on me."

...

Michael smiled broadly seeing Yonina’s reaction.

It was obvious that Milo had impressed Yonina.

Smiling, Michael asked, "How old are you?"

"It’s very rude of you to ask a lady her age!" Yonina replied.

"I seem to remember that you are maybe two or three years younger than I," Michael said. "Milo and I are classmates. We’re the same age. So, that means that you guys are quite compatible."

"Well, you know my situation. I’m just too busy with work," Yonina tried to dodge the subject. Sighing softly, she continued, "Right now, I’m the only one holding up the Collins Group. I have no time for anything else."

"Hey, you’re not getting any younger you know," Michael tried to convince her, "Sure, you do need to keep the business afloat. But still, you should not neglect your personal life and future happiness either.

"Just look at how happy Wendy and I are. I know that you’re very fond of Jake and Leah. You should get into the dating game, get married...maybe have a kid of your own too."

By then, Wendy had walked over to join them. Smiling, she asked, "What are you guys talking about? Has Dr. Lawrence left?"

"Yep, he just left," Michael replied. He asked, looking at Wendy, "What do you think?

Milo and Yonina..."

Wendy caught on to what Michael wanted to say before he finished.

She responded, smiling broadly, "Oh, very compatible indeed! A good-looking and talented physician, Dr. Lawrence is definitely great husband material. Yonina, you should strike while the iron’s hot. A catch like Dr. Lawrence will surely be snapped up quickly."

Yonina blushed, feeling ambushed by the couple.

She delicately cleared her throat and said a tad awkwardly, "I’ve got stuff to attend to so I’ll head off now."

That said, she picked up her bag and left hastily.

"Hey, why don’t you stay for dinner?" Wendy called out to Yonina’s retreating figure.

"I’ll pass. I’ve got work that needs to be done back in the office," Yonina replied.

It was indeed true that she had a pile of work that needed her attention. She had come straight here after her plane landed and had not gone back to her office yet.

Her original plan had been to check in on Wendy and Michael, and perhaps eat lunch with them before returning to her office. However, her interest had been piqued when Milo began talking about the charitable foundation, and she had stayed longer than intended, engrossed in their discussion.

Truth be told, Yonina had always wanted to participate in charitable activities. But, in light of the rising number of scams in recent years, she did not want her money ending up in the hands of people who were not really needy.

Since Michael was now planning to set up a foundation, she was definitely interested in throwing her hat into the ring.

"I think that Milo and Yonina are very compatible and would make a great couple," Michael commented as he looked at Wendy.

"They’re not spring chickens anymore. And they both have high expectations for a potential partner."

"Well, if they’re truly compatible, we should help bring them together. Who knows, it might be the beginning of a match made in heaven," Wendy grinned.

"Let me set up a group chat right now," Michael said, pulling out his phone.

He opened the app and created a small group comprising Milo, Yonina, and Wendy.

[Michael: Welcome to the chat group!]

Wendy responded with an emoticon.

However, neither Milo nor Yonina responded, even after many minutes passed.

Michael said, looking at Wendy, "It looks like these two extremely busy people have not even had time to check their messages."

"Let’s give them some more time then," Wendy shook her head and smiled.

"What would you like for dinner? Just name your dish and yours truly will cook it for you," Michael announced, wrapping his arm around Wendy’s shoulders.

"What? You claim that you love me and yet, you don’t even know what I like to eat?"

Wendy demanded, hands on her hips, pretending to be upset.

Michael played along and threw his hands up in surrender, "My bad, Honey. What a stupid question! I will get cracking on dinner right away."
