Chapter 666: I Have a Request as Well

"Yes, indeed Michael would not serve you poison." Christian burst into laughter all of a sudden.

The next moment he poured the whole glass of water into his mouth. Wendy was stunned.

"Has Christian really lost his mind? Or has he decided to end his own life since there isn’t any way back at this point?" Wendy thought to herself.

Christian smashed the glass onto the ground and it shattered into pieces.

"Neither would I." Christian looked at Wendy and uttered it word by word as lots of thoughts raced through his mind.

"Neither would I?" Wendy was confused and didn’t quite catch it when he said it. freewebnovёl.ƈom

Had he meant that the glass of water wasn’t poisonous?

"You believe that Michael would not do something like this to you, but you do not believe me." Christian shook his head in disappointment.

Wendy was speechless.

Why should believe Christian?

Believe someone who kidnapped her.

Since the glass of water wasn’t poison and Wendy was finally at ease. Even if it had been poison, Christian had drunk it anyway.

Before Wendy could say a word, footsteps sounded from outside the door.

"Wendy!" Michael’s voice came from the door. Wendy turned and saw someone who was somehow familiar.

"Michael?" Wendy could not recall Michael but she guessed that it might have been him. Even though she couldn’t recognize his face it had a sense of familiarity.

The next second, Christian pressed the gun to Wendy’s forehead. He looked at Michael and threatened him, "Stop there, don’t come any closer!"

Michael stopped moving as he saw the gun in Christian’s hand. "Christian it’s over and there’s no turning back, surrendering is your best option."

Michael was afraid and worried as he saw that Wendy’s life was now threatened by Christian.

"Cut the bullsh*t, I don’t buy that," said Christian.

"What do you want? What are your terms?" asked Michael.

"Get down on your knees, bow to me three times, and admit that you, Michael, are worse than me, Christian," He replied coldly.

"Christian, since when did you become so childish?" Michael hadn’t expected Christian to come up with such a request.

"Childish?" Christian sneered, "Yeah, I’m indeed childish." Christian had lived his whole life in the shadow of his illegitimacy.

His lifelong goal had been to surpass Michael. He knew that he had lost. His only leverage now was Wendy.

Wendy was Michael’s soft spot.

Christian wouldn’t run away, he had nothing left. Even if he escaped from here by holding Wendy hostage, what difference would it make?

He was now wanted by the Drug Enforcement Administration in Nashville City and he would eventually be arrested even if he fled to another country. He could no longer return to the organization, he had completely quit, for Wendy.

Besides, the Drug Enforcement Unit was not only after him, the entire operation and drug-related organizations would also suffer. Their hiding spot would most likely be swept by them as well.

Of course, Christian didn’t care about that anymore. His gun, rested against Wendy’s forehead and he coldly said again, "Are you going to take a knee?"

"If I get on my knees, you’ll let Wendy go?" Michael looked at Wendy worriedly and asked.

"No, having you on your knees is the first request," said Christian.

"What else?" Michael asked, "Why don’t you state everything at once!"

"Are you going to get on your knees or not?" Christian pressed the gun harder against Wendy’s forehead, "I’ll only give you three seconds to think about it, or, you can bet on whether I have any bullets in this gun."

...

"Alright I will do as you wish, I will kneel down!" Michael did not dare to gamble, and could only go along with Christian’s request by agreeing to his demands.

"Michael..." Wendy tried to say something, but Michael dropped right to his knees.

Watching Michael drop to his knees before Christian because of her sent a distasteful feeling to her.

Christian was the devil incarnate.

There was no telling what else he might ask for.

"Michael, you can’t keep agreeing to his requests with no end," said Wendy.

When she spoke, Christian raised his hand wanting to slap her to keep her mouth shut. However, he did not do it and stopped his hand mid-air.

Christian said coldly, "Don’t think that I dare not kill you, Wendy. All it takes is a bullet for us to reunite in hell."

"Don’t do it!" Michael knelt on the ground and screamed, "I’m already on my knees!"

"Bow to me and say that you, Michael, are not as good as me, Christian, and will never be as good as me," said Christian.

Michael took a deep breath, bowed as requested, and said, "Michael is not as good as Christian and will never be as good as Christian..."

Seeing Michael bow and listening to what he said, Christian suddenly laughed out loud. He laughed wildly and insensibly.

Christian’s goal in his life should be considered accomplished.

"There are two more!" said Christian.

Michael complied and bowed to him twice more. He stood up from the floor. His sight was set on Wendy the whole time just in case anything happened to her, "I’ve done everything you’ve asked, what else do you want?"

Christian looked around and spotted a sniper aimed at him. The sniper will fire as soon as it found the right opportunity.

"Michael, let’s settle the feud between us once and for all today." Christian took a deep breath and continued, "Get everyone out of here and the two of us will have a duel. The winner walks out of here alive, and the loser will die here."

"Is this your last request for letting Wendy go?" asked Michael.

"Yes, this is my last request," said Christian.

This would not only be the last request he made in order to release Wendy, but also the last request that he made in his life. He knew for sure that he wouldn’t leave here alive.

Even if he won and killed Michael today, there was no way Evan and his men would let him walk out of here alive.

All he wanted was to win against Michael once.

He knew that Michael was willing to kneel down to ensure Wendy’s safety. Christian wanted to have a face-off with Michael. The final showdown.

"Don’t do it..." Park stepped forward and whispered in Michael’s ear, "With so many of us here, we are more than capable of taking Christian down, there is no need for you to take such a big risk. What’s more, you haven’t fully recovered from your leg injury, and you haven’t rested well from chasing Christian these past few days."

Wendy had forgotten that Michael had a leg injury, but she knew that Christian being a drug cartel thug, must be good at fighting.

The fact that Christian would make this request showed that he was confident that he will win against Michael.

Wendy said, "Michael, you can’t promise him!" Wendy didn’t want anything to happen to Michael.

"Michael, if you’re a man, fight me. We have been battling for years, it’s time to settle it once and for all." Christian deliberately provoked Michael, "What, are you afraid? It’s okay if you won’t dare to do it, but then I’ll have to kill Wendy and kill myself. This way, I can still die with her, and we’ll be reincarnated together. Maybe in the next life, it will be me that Wendy loves."

...

"No, you can’t promise him," said Evan.

"No, Michael!" Wendy reminded him again.

Yet Michael clenched his fist and nodded his head in agreement, "Yes, I promise you."

He needed to end all this between him and Christian once and for all.

Christian had always tried to prove that he was better than Michael, and so had Michael.

There had always been constant competition between them. MC Enterprise and the DR Group were rivals from the very first day.

"Michael..." Wendy called out to him worriedly, "You..."

Before Wendy could finish, Michael interrupted her, "Wendy, don’t worry, I will definitely defeat Christian." Michael took a deep breath, and turned his focus towards Christian, and said, "I’ve agreed to your terms, let Wendy go."

"Yes, but I want us to have a gentleman’s agreement," said Christian.

"Please go on," said Michael.

"Have Evan Boyle bring everyone out, including the snipers." Christian shifted his attention to the sniper’s position. He had long since spotted it hiding in the shadows.

Christian continued, "This hall will be the venue, whoever does not exit this compound will be considered defeated. Don’t leave any weapons in the hall except a gun. Of course, everything else in the hall can be used as a weapon. Whoever reaches this gun first will have the chance to kill the other person and walk out of here alive. I know that even if I walked out of here alive, Evan Boyle would have me arrested. If you win you get to live; if not we will die together."

"I too have a request," said Michael.

Christian didn’t say anything, gesturing for Michael to continue. "I don’t need your life if I win, because you have a greater purpose," said Michael.

"If I win you have to cooperate with Evan Boyle to investigate the drug cartel and take it down. If I lose, I am at your disposal."

There was no way that Christian could escape, so there was no point in Michael killing him. Keeping him alive to cooperate with Evan Boyle would make the investigation to uncover the entire drug cartel force behind him, move faster.

As for Christian, there was only one final outcome awaiting him, and that would be execution, by the firing squad.

Michael wasn’t in a hurry to kill him today.

Of course, Michael didn’t have a sure win either. In all likelihood, he would die here at the hands of Christian’s gun.

But, he had no choice. With Wendy in Christian’s hands, Michael was afraid to act rashly or listen to Evan Boyle’s advice to let the sniper find an opportunity to kill Christian.

What if the sniper made a mistake and the timing was off and accidentally injured Wendy?

After all, Christian was not a simple person either, he was extremely good at fighting.

"Over my dead body, I will not sell the organization out," said Christian. Although he had left the organization, it was Alberto who gave him a new purpose in life which provided him with the opportunity to come this far.

He would not do such a perfidious thing.

Christian continued, "If I lose, I will be at your disposal. Regarding the investigation of the organization, that you will have to do on your own, don’t expect me to cooperate with the investigation."

Without Christian’s assistance, the drug cartel had actually declined. Even if Christian refused to cooperate, Evan Boyle could trace it through Christian and find their hideout.

The only difference was that they would have made faster progress in investigating with Christian’s cooperation.

Christian was afraid that if he did not agree to Michael’s request, Michael would go back on his word. He pressed the gun against Wendy’s forehead and said, "Michael, you are not in any position to negotiate with me. I will not survive anyway, so if you don’t agree with me, I will make sure Wendy dies with me."
