Chapter 594: Really Kind or Really Stupid?
"Her disclosing the passcode is not important anymore. They have already found the safe, and they have also found the evidence of my crimes. I was going to return to Rheinsville City eventually, and you guys were also going to be investigated sooner or later. We’re on the same boat here," Christian said. "The only difference is time."
"You’re actually finding excuses for her. Christian, you should know what consequences there are for loving someone, right?" Clement said sharply. "The more you love her, the more she has to die! Once the organization finds out about this, she will die."
People in this industry could not fall in love at all.
Once they did, they would have a weakness.
"Then don’t tell the organization!" Christian simply said. "Wendy has already fallen in my hands. She can’t escape from my control at all.
"You guys already knew about the failure in Lake City, and I will find a scapegoat for the safe incident.
"You don’t have to interfere with this. I will handle this on my own.
"As for the money, I will help you earn it.
"I will give you guys 750 million dollars in three months!"
"Is this an order?" Clement replied. "Seven hundred fifty million dollars in three months isn’t a small amount of money."
"You guys just have to provide me with the drugs, and I will contact the other markets myself," Christian raised his head slightly as he replied confidently, as though he didn’t care about anything. "And I will return your 450 million dollars with interest."
Christian’s conditions were pretty attractive to Clement.
People in this industry did it for the money.
If Christian really could do what he promised, then everything else wouldn’t be that important anymore.
Clement doesn’t really care much about Wendy’s life.
To be exact, he didn’t wish for such a beautiful woman to die either.
Wendy’s looks and her figure were indeed Clement’s type.
"Fine, I can turn a blind eye to this." Clement’s gaze landed on Wendy as he smiled and uttered, "But you know, I like Wendy quite a lot as well. Let me play with her for a few days, and I’ll pretend that I don’t know anything."
"Clement, I’m not joking with you." Christian’s tone was cold and serious. "Don’t have any thoughts of touching Wendy anymore. I am indeed despondent now, but you know clearly that once I regain my power, even you are no match to me. You better retract your words if you don’t want to be my enemy."
Clement actually felt a shiver down his spine when he saw Christian’s expression.
He knew that Christian had to compete with many others to get to where he was. He had always been cruel and heartless.
But they had always been brothers and partners in the past.
This was the first time that Clement had seen Christian so angry.
He would have let it pass if it were any other women.
But it just so happened that Wendy was Clement’s type.
Clement lowered his gaze slightly, seemingly unwilling to give up as he said, "She’s still yours. I just want to play with her for a bit. It’s not like you can’t afford it."
Clement was also trying to test Christian’s limits with his words.
He was trying to test what exactly were Wendy and himself to Christian.
But at the next second, Christian took out a gun and pointed it at Clement’s forehead. "Let me make myself clear one last time, you’re not allowed to have any indecent thoughts about her."
...
Clement knew that Christian liked Wendy, but he hadn’t expected Christian to have such deep feelings for her.
The gun was already pointed at his head, so Clement had no choice but to give up.
He raised his hand and smiled before muttering, "I was just joking. Don’t take it so seriously."
Deep inside, Clement hadn’t really given up.
Since Wendy was already in their hands, there was no rush anymore.
"I’ve already explained everything clearly, so if there’s nothing else, I won’t make you stay for a meal." Christian clearly wanted Clement out.
"Fine, then I’ll take my leave." Clement stopped just as he turned around and took a step forward as he said, "You just came back today, but I’m pretty sure the organization will want to see you tomorrow. You better prepare yourself. I hope you haven’t forgotten the rules."
"You don’t have to worry about me," Christian replied coldly.
"Heh..." Clement chuckled while shaking his head.
He didn’t say anything else and left.
He was just trying to remind Christian kindly, but Christian didn’t buy it.
After Clement left, the house became quiet.
Wendy heaved a sigh of relief.
Wendy didn’t say anything as she looked at Christian who walked to a chair to sit down.
The atmosphere remained tense. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
Everyone else in the house had left, so only Wendy and Christian were left.
Wendy knew that Christian had helped her just now.
She could even say that he saved her life.
Otherwise, she definitely would have died if Clement had taken her away just now.
But there was no way that Wendy was going to thank him.
He was the one who had brought her to Rheinsville City forcefully. If it weren’t for him, Wendy wouldn’t be in this state.
"I’ll go and take a look at Zen." Wendy turned around to go to the basement after saying that.
She did not want to remain here with Christian.
She had originally wanted to ask Christian what organization Clement was talking about and what the rules were.
After thinking about it, she concluded that Christian probably wouldn’t tell her anyway, so she didn’t bother to ask.
Seeing Wendy’s retreating figure, Christian coldly asked, "Wendy Stewart, are you really kind or really stupid?"
Christian’s words caused Wendy to stop in her tracks.
"Do you know what the torture of 10,000 snakes is?" Christian continued.
Wendy remained silent as Christian explained, "The torture of 10,000 snakes is to throw you into a cave full of venomous snakes. There may not be exactly 10,000 snakes, but I assume it would be around that number. I’ve seen people whose bodies disappear immediately after being thrown inside. They were eaten up by the snakes within seconds and not a single bone was left."
Hearing Christian’s words, Wendy felt a chill down her spine.
She didn’t know that such kind of torture existed in the world.
That was way too heartless.
"If I hadn’t stopped Clement just now, that was what would await you." Christian raised his head and looked at Wendy before asking, "If you had known this from the start that helping Zen would mean that you had to face the torture of 10,000 snakes, would you still have admitted it?"
Wendy didn’t know how to answer Christian’s question.
If she had known from the beginning that it would be so severe, she didn’t know if she would still have done it.
Wendy dared to admit it just now because she knew that Christian would help her.
Christian had spent so much effort just to get her to Rheinsville City, so he wouldn’t just watch her die like that.
And she had also made the right decision to believe that.
Both she and Zen were safe for now.
However, Wendy wouldn’t know what to choose either if there ever came a time when one of them had to die.
...
"Let me ask you, will you still admit it?" Christian stepped closer to Wendy as he looked straight at her.
Wendy looked away as she answered honestly, "I don’t know."
"You don’t know?" Christian sneered as he continued, "I had to pay such a huge price, and you say that you don’t know. Wendy \, did you do that because you were sure that I would help you?"
"You can choose not to help me," Wendy stated coldly.
Christian had brought this upon himself.
If he hadn’t forced her to come to Rheinsville City, she would still have been living peacefully in Lake City.
Christian sighed. "Guess I cared too much."
"If I hadn’t admitted it just now, would Zen definitely be dead?" Wendy looked into Christian’s eyes and asked.
Christian nodded and said, "Yes, I wouldn’t pay such a huge price just to save her."
If Wendy hadn’t interrupted him, he would have already uttered Zen’s name.
He would not help Zen at all.
"Christian, Zen had been with you for so many years. Do you really not have any feelings for her?" Wendy asked slowly. "And if you really don’t, why don’t you just let her go? I can understand if you took me because you need a hostage and I have followed you here to Rheinsville City as well. So can you let Zen go after she has recovered?"
"No way," Christian answered without a second thought. "She had betrayed me, so the more she wants to leave me, the more I won’t let her do so."
Hearing Christian’s answer, Wendy felt bad for Zen.
Wendy hadn’t planned on saying anything more to Christian, but since she was already on the topic, she probed further, "Christian, since we’re already talking about it, let me ask you, what’s with the ’Wendy Stewart’ on the plane?"
That had been bugging Wendy for quite a while now, but she hadn’t asked him anything because of the nature of their relationship.
"You’re so clever, so why don’t you take a guess?" Christian’s smile widened a little.
"There is a possibility of two people looking alike in this world. However, the fact that we’re not related, she looks so similar to me, and you found her make the probability extremely minute."
Wendy continued, "Not only that, she was obviously imitating how I act and speak, even copying the pitch and tone of my voice.
"I can tell you specially trained her to do so.
"But from the way she talks to you, she doesn’t seem like one of your underlings.
She doesn’t completely listen to your orders, and it seems more like a partnership between the two of you.
"It’s hard for me to guess who it is based on those alone."
"It’s normal that you can’t guess who it is. After all..." Christian paused.
He had wanted to say that after all, she was a ’dead’ person.
He knew that Wendy was clever. By saying that, she could guess the identity of the woman easily.
Wendy was waiting for Christian to finish his sentence, but seeing that he didn’t continue, she chose not to press him either.
Since he decided not to say, there was no point for Wendy to ask.
"Forget it. She will never be me no matter how similar she may be. Michael will realize that she’s fake eventually," Wendy said nonchalantly as though it didn’t matter to her.
"Is that so? There may be a huge difference depending on when he found out... What if he found out too late and she’s already pregnant with Michael’s child? When that happens, even if you go back, will things still be the same between you and Michael?" Christian purposely said that to agitate Wendy.
