Chapter 246: Am I Really Still Okay?
"I came right after I hung up the phone." Zen looked at the two children who were riding the merry-go-round and said, "I haven’t seen the two little cuties for a while, and I wanted to see them soon."
"Miss Zen, do you want to ride the merry-go-round?" Leah greeted Zen on the carousel with a sweet smile.
"No, you and your brother take your time." Zen waved at them.
Wendy pointed to the beverage stand and asked, "Want to sit for a while?"
"Sure," Zen nodded her head and followed Wendy over there.
But before she could sit down, Zen saw the cotton candy vendor and said to Wendy, "Wait a minute."
After saying that, she went over and bought two cotton candies.
Taking the large cotton candy, Zen walked over to the carousel and handed them to Leah and Jake as their carousel turned around.
"Thanks, Miss Zen," Leah smiled as she got her cotton candy.
Jake didn’t like it. He thought it was too sweet but was polite enough to say thank you.
Zen went back to Wendy’s side and sat down. With a face full of envy, she said,
"Wendy, to be honest, I envy you. Both of your kids are so smart and cute, and Mr. Lucas is treating you better and better. Yesterday’s news about you guys at Bayview was all over the entertainment section. After seeing the news, for some reason, I suddenly wanted to see you very much."
The smile on Zen’s face faded a bit as she sighed and continued, "At the beginning, we didn’t expect to come to this point, right?
"When you gave up design for Michael and willingly became a small assistant, I thought your life was probably ruined. freēwebnovel.com
"I’m not very talented in design and never thought I could get to where I am today.
"Sometimes fate was just so wondrous."
"You don’t have to envy me because you can do it too if you want." Wendy looked at Zen and although she felt that the woman in front of her was not the same as before, there was still a subtle trace of familiarity after all.
It was just that it was hard to go back to their previous relationship.
"Am I really still okay?" Zen bowed her head and smiled bitterly.
Wendy lowered her eyes, and for a moment, she didn’t know what to say.
There was really a barrier between her and Zen.
In the past, they would not be in such an awkward situation.
"Mummy, Miss Zen," Leah and Jake got off the carousel and ran over.
"What else do you want to ride? Go play with your brother by yourselves."
Wendy turned her head and looked at the two children with a gentle expression on her face.
"I also want to ride the bumper cars. Can Mummy and Miss Zen come and play together?" Leah pointed out, and said, "There are four of us, so we can sit in two cars."
"Yes, Miss Zen wants to play too." Zen immediately stood up and took Leah’s little hand to walk over there. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
There were four of them. Wendy and Jake in one car, and Zen and Leah in another car.
It was Leah and Jake who took the wheel.
The two cars bumped around from time to time, and there was a lot of laughter.
Zen and Wendy, accompanied by the two children, played all afternoon and everybody was tired after playing.
It was already five o’clock, and Wendy was going to take the kids back.
"Thanks for playing with us today." Leah waved her little hand and said thank you to Zen.
"It’s me who should thank you." Zen bent down and gave both Leah and Jake a kiss on the cheek.

Zen had never been happy in the past few years. She was always busy working all the time.
She knew she was not talented, so she worked almost all year round and was just short of sleeping at the office.
She was afraid of being eliminated, afraid of being disliked by Christian, afraid of being useless.
She was afraid of so many things, that she had forgotten that there was anything else in the world besides work.
After taking a deep breath, Zen looked at Wendy with a sincere gaze and said, "Thank you Wendy."
The thank you was for Wendy’s willingness to let her come out and play with them today, and for the joy that her two lovely children had brought her.
Before Wendy could say anything else, Zen said, "And I’m sorry."
This sorry was about the last time she bribed the doctor to lie to Wendy. In fact, today, Zen had come for this matter.
These days, she had been suffering from a state of guilt. She would go crazy if she didn’t say sorry to Wendy herself.
"Sorry for what?" Wendy smiled lightly and looked straight at Zen.
She hoped Zen would tell her the truth.
Zen lowered her eyes as she released and clenched her hand.
She had the courage to apologize, but not the courage to say the things she had done.
Zen knew very well that what she had done was already known to Wendy and Michael.
Otherwise, Wendy and Michael would not be in such a good relationship but would be in a state of quarrel or cold war.
However, she didn’t have the nerve to say it.
"Wendy, we can’t go back to the old days, can we?" Zen asked this with some tears in her eyes.
Suddenly, she missed the old days when she was in college. At that time, how wonderful it was for her to be so carefree.
Wendy wanted to wait for Zen to say it herself, but it seemed that she wouldn’t be able to wait.
With a bitter smile, Wendy patted Zen’s shoulder without saying anything else as she took the two children by the hand and turned to leave.
As she watched their backs, Zen’s eyes became tearful.
Zen knew she was in hell, and there was no turning back. Suddenly, she crouched down, and her tears fell like rain.
Wendy was disappointed.
All afternoon, she waited for Zen to say the things she had done herself.
If...
If she would say it herself, perhaps Wendy would still be soft-hearted. Unfortunately,
there was no such if.

The next day was a working day. Wendy woke up on time and went to work.
From today on, she planned to devote herself to her work.
After a week of work, Michael and Wendy were on their way home together on Friday when Michael received a phone call from the old house.
The call was from his grandmother, and Michael turned on the speaker.
"Michael, your mother is not in the right state lately so do you want to come back and see her?" Michael’s grandmother’s tone carried some helplessness.
"What is she up to again?" Michael had a bit of a headache.
"What else could she be up to? It’s something with your father." Grandmother said with a sigh, "Just now, your father came back, and your mother took a knife."
"Isn’t she always like this?"
"It’s different. In the past, she used to make a lot of trouble and then let it go. But this time, your father was really wounded and sent to the hospital. Your mother’s mental state seems a little off."
Grandmother would not intentionally exaggerate.
This time, Grandmother called Michael. That meant that the matter was really quite serious.
