Chapter 234: I Will Help You

While Jill was gone, Wendy’s mind echoed with what she had said. Indeed, no one had ever not told a lie.

Michael changed her medication for fear that she would regain her memory and that meant that those eight years of memories were probably too much for Wendy to bear.

Originally, she had decided not to take the medicine and did not have to remember the previous events. But after discovering Michael’s action of changing the medicine, Wendy couldn’t restrain the desire to recover her memory.

What kind of memories would make Michael do something like changing her medication?

At the end of the day, Michael came to Wendy’s office and saw her sitting in her office chair with a sullen look on her face and asked with a smile, "Why do you look so serious? Not satisfied with the design?"

Raising her head, Wendy looked at Michael’s gentle face and felt more and more troubled and torn.

She pulled out a smile. "Nothing inspires me," Wendy responded casually.

"I came to see you this afternoon. Didn’t Jill say that you were inspired and had to shut yourself in to design, so no one could disturb you?" Michael asked.

"Designing is something where inspiration is sometimes unreliable. Sometimes, if you have a flash of an idea that you can’t perfect, it’s ruined."

"So, this is the case. I don’t know anything much about design." Michael reached out and touched Wendy’s head. His tone was gentle as he said, "But it’s okay, I’m sure you can design good work. Now, let’s get off work, relax, and talk about work tomorrow."

Wendy nodded and stood up.

Looking at Michael’s hand, Wendy hesitated and took it.

On the way back, Wendy said very little. From time to time, Michael looked for a topic of conversation, and she had only one or two words in response.

Michael realized that something was wrong.

"Wendy, did something happen?" Michael frowned and his tone was tinged with concern.

"Just... " Wendy swallowed and looked down at her fingers with some unease.

There didn’t seem to be much point in telling Michael the truth, was there?

Michael had changed her medication privately and now, even if she questioned him as to why he had changed it, it was meaningless.

The most frightening thing was that when trust crumbled, no matter what Michael answered, Wendy would hold doubts in her heart.

"It’s just that the design didn’t go well this afternoon." Wendy blinked and said, "I was thinking, what kind of designer was I before? Have I really designed so many products that have sold worldwide? I don’t feel like I can remember any of them, so I feel a little uncomfortable."

When Michael listened to Wendy’s sullen words, he said with a firm tone, "I know you want to recover your memory so don’t worry, if I said I would help you, I will."

Wendy turned her head to look at the side of Michael’s face as he drove.

Wendy had to admit that Michael was very handsome and even the side of his face had the right curvature.

Michael was in his thirties, but his skin didn’t look any worse than that of a teenager.

Sometimes Wendy envied Michael for having such a good-looking face as a man.

However, she found out something today that she shouldn’t have known.

The red light was ahead. Michael stopped the car, turned his head to look at Wendy, and then reached out to hold her hand tightly.

"Design is not a step-by-step job, and you’ve done a great job. You see, even with your memory loss, you have snatched back the client from DR’s hands. When you regain your memory, you will definitely be even better."

Michael praised her, "It seems that MC will have to rely on the design department to take off in the future. Don’t mind the other departments dragging your feet when the time comes."

Michael’s joking words lightened Wendy’s mood a bit. But the stone that was weighing in her heart was still so heavy.

When she got home, Leah and Jake jumped into her arms together.

Holding the little hands of the two children, Wendy felt that her life was meaningful.

After dinner, Wendy played with the two children for a while, while Michael was busy working in his study. Except, Michael wasn’t busy working.

He called Jill.

Wendy’s state today was a bit strange.

Although it was true that he did not understand designing, Wendy’s mood was too low for it to be a problem of not being able to design.

This time, she stayed at home to recuperate for too long. On her first day back to work, even if the work did not go well, it was also normal. And it was obvious that on the way back, Wendy didn’t even want to chat with him.

Jill wasn’t surprised to see Michael’s call.

If he couldn’t find anything unusual about Wendy’s state today, he would really be stupid.

When she answered the phone, Jill said, "Mr. Lucas, I’ve been waiting for your call for a long time."

"You seem to know what I’m going to ask you." Michael got right to the point and asked, "What happened to Wendy today?"

"Well... " Jill said bluntly, "I’m closer to my sister than I am to you. You’re always asking her questions, which makes things difficult for me. However, I also wish my sister well. I don’t know what happened to her today. But she asked me a question... "

"What?" Michael pursued.

"She asked me ’what if the person I love deceived me?’" Jill said, "So, Mr. Lucas, what did you do to deceive my sister again?"

Michael’s grip on the phone tightened a little.

"I’ve told you what she told me, so it’s not fair that you don’t tell me what you lied to her about," Jill’s gossipy voice came through the phone.

"I don’t know," Michael’s voice was low, with a hint of doubt.

"Okay, I’ll see you then."

After saying that, Jill nimbly hung up the phone.

Then, Jill grabbed the tablet and went to catch up on TV shows. freeweɓnovel.cѳm

"Daddy, come play with us." Leah ran to the study and knocked on the door.

Michael couldn’t help but smile as he listened to Leah’s cute, babyish voice.

He went over and opened the door, then picked up Leah, gave her a kiss on the cheek and said, "Okay, daddy will play with you."

"You don’t spoil her too much." Wendy pursed her lips and said, "If you have work to do, you should work first. I’ll play with her for a while, and it’s almost time for bed."

"I only have one daughter, so if I don’t spoil her, who will?" Michael said in a domineering manner, "Even if my daughter is spoiled, who can say anything? Who dares to say anything?"

Michael, of course, was just teasing. He still had principles and boundaries when it came to education.

Michael still taught his children to distinguish between right and wrong.

"Daddy, all you care about is your daughter. You’ve forgotten you have a son," Jake deliberately acted like he was jealous.

"Sons need to be raised poor, while daughters need to be raised rich." Michael justified his partiality and said, "Jake, you’re on your own."

When Wendy saw how partial Michael was, she immediately extended her hand towards Jake and said, "Jake, come play with Mummy."

Jake was much more intelligent than his peers, so he wasn’t really angry, but just saying it on purpose.

Laughing, joking, and playing with each other would create a family vibe.
