Chapter 229: Take Your Medicine

Michael came home very early that night. He left his office straight after work. freewebnσvel.cøm

The family enjoyed dinner together.

Their life together was simple and peaceful and was even filled with warmth and happiness.

After dinner, Michael brought all of them to the garden for a stroll.

Leah was tired and kept asking Michael to carry her.

Leah had Michael tied around her pinky. She could do anything she wanted and if she could not do it, Michael would help her make it happen.

Michael would do almost anything for Leah as long as she asked for it.

Jake used to be the one who doted on Leah, but with Michael doting on her now too, Wendy could tell that Leah had never been so happy before as she was now.

After returning home from their stroll, Wendy helped Leah clean up and asked her with a smile, "Leah, are you happy?"

"I am," Leah answered cutely. Her laughter sang right into Wendy’s heart. frёewebηovel.cѳm

"If Mummy were to take you away from here one day, would you be sad?" Wendy asked tentatively.

"Why do we have to leave this place?" Leah’s tiny face was filled with confusion when she heard that. "Will Daddy go with us if we leave?"

"I am just saying if. Do you know what if means?"

"I do," Leah nodded. A smile appeared on her lips as she said, "I want to be with Mommy, Daddy, and Jake. It doesn’t matter even if we leave this place as long as I am with you all."

"What if Daddy doesn’t leave with us?"

Wendy knew that Leah liked Michael a lot.

She also knew that their lives right now would most likely be affected once she recovers her memories.

She did not know if she could accept those memories, but she knew clearly that she did not want Leah to be hurt.

"Then I don’t want to leave." Leah turned around and grabbed Wendy with her tiny hands. She tilted her head up at Wendy and said, "Mommy, I like being with all of you. Together. I like how we live together right now."

"Alright, I get it." Wendy patted Leah’s tiny head. Her lips curled up in a faint smile.

After helping Leah with her shower, Wendy carried her back to her room.

Michael saw Wendy entering Leah’s room and took out a bag from his pocket.

Then, he closed the room door and went to the drawer with Wendy’s medicine. He took out the medication he had switched out the last time and replaced them with the new ones that he was holding.

He had said earlier today that he was going to help Wendy regain her memories.

Then he had to switch out those medications that would suppress her recovery.

He had thought it through. He could not be that selfish. No matter whether Wendy could regain her memories or not, and no matter her choices after she regains her memories, he would respect her decision.

After switching out the medicine, Michael breathed in deeply. He felt the heavy burden in his heart lightening a little.

Leah’s words reverberated in Wendy’s mind. After returning to her room, her expression was still a little solemn.

When Michael saw that, he asked with concern, "Are you feeling unwell? You don’t look so good."

Wendy shook her head and forced a smile.

"Rest early. You still have to go to work tomorrow."

Wendy laid on the bed and could not fall asleep.

She thought about the medicine that could help her regain her memories. Should she continue to take them?

At least Leah liked their way of life right now very much. While Jake did not say anything, Wendy could tell that he hoped that their family would be together and be happy.

Their fight two days ago had caused a large impact on the children.

Perhaps keeping to their life right now was a good thing?

Wendy went to sleep too late last night. By the time she woke up, Jake and Leah were already in school.

When Zess saw that Wendy was awake, she went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast for her.

"Wendy, would you like toast or oatmeal for breakfast? I have some oatmeal heating up. If you want oatmeal I can add some sides for you?" Zess asked with a smile.

Wendy was brushing her teeth in the bathroom, so she just replied casually, "Just make anything."

After breakfast, Wendy thought about what she should do next.

She was mostly recovered and there wasn’t an issue with her eyes anymore.

Previously, Winnie had asked her to go shopping with her every day. Now that Winnie wasn’t looking for her, Wendy had nothing to do every day.

She was not someone who could loaf around. She planned to tell Michael that she would be going back to work.

After making her decision, Wendy stood up and walked to the closet. She wanted to put on some formal clothes so she could go to the office.

"Wendy..."

Wendy heard Michael’s voice and turned around subconsciously. She saw him entering the room.

Wendy smiled and asked, "Why are you back at this time?"

It was only around ten in the morning. He should still be in the office.

"I sent Jake and Leah to kindergarten and came back to take a look at you."

Michael’s voice was gentle and there was a smile in his eyes.

"What’s there to look at?" Wendy smiled and shook her head. "Right, I was going to tell you that since I have recovered and there’s nothing for me to do at home, I would like to go back to work in the office."

"Why don’t you stay at home and rest at home for a couple more days?" Michael was still worried about Wendy’s health. "You almost scared me to death last time."

"It won’t happen again." Wendy walked up to Michael and stretched out her hand to take his. She cajoled, "It was because the deadline was short for the design last time and I worked overtime every day. Besides, my eyes had only just healed back then. I only relapsed because I was too tired. But I have already recuperated and recovered. Besides, my eyes aren’t dry and don’t hurt anymore. The designs later on don’t have to be dealt with urgently and I can just complete them on time. Nothing will happen."

"But..."

Michael had just tried to say something when Wendy tugged on his hand and interrupted him, "I am so bored at home. Why don’t you let me go to the office and meet some people?"

"Alright then." Michael could not reject Wendy and could only nod with a helpless smile.

"Then let’s go to the office together." Having received Michael’s agreement, Wendy let go of his hand happily. Then, she continued, "Wait for me, let me get changed."

Michael felt rather helpless as he watched Wendy walk away happily.

She really had him wrapped around her pinky.

Wendy changed into formal clothing and put on a light layer of makeup.

One could tell that she really wanted to go back to the office to work.

She tucked her hand in the crook of Michael’s arm and said with a faint smile, "Let’s go."

"Hang on..." Michael frowned slightly. He asked, "Have you taken your medicine today?"

Wendy shook her head.

Michael went to the bedroom and took out the pills in the drawer.

He poured out a few pills according to the dosage and poured a glass of warm water.

Then, he walked up to Wendy and handed them to her saying, "Take them before we leave."

Wendy did not reach out to accept the medication he handed her. He looked at her and saw that she appeared slightly ill at ease. He asked, confused, "What’s the matter?"
