Chapter 201: I Can’t Lose This Collaboration

"My apologies regarding that. As I fell sick and haven’t been able to work, I only have two drawings on hand as of now. But, don’t worry. I wouldn’t delay the progress of the launch," Wendy said with utter confidence.

Zen stood by the side and she saw Wendy’s drawings too.

Wendy’s design was much better than hers regardless of the selling points, highlights and trendy elements.

Zen knew that she lost.

She conceded defeat from the bottom of her heart when her opponent was Wendy. When they were back in university, Wendy was the rare design genius in their school. Wendy was the one who helped her to complete her studies when she graduated in design major back then.

Hence, Zen had always admired and was grateful for Wendy.

Zen looked somber. Her hand holding the contract stiffened in the air.

It was an awkward situation. Zen bit her lips and shook her head. No, she couldn’t lose.

Even if she lost, Christian couldn’t lose again.

She couldn’t just sit and watch Christian’s company fall into a financial crisis.

"Mr. Thompson, why not think about it? Ms. Swift lost her memory due to the car accident after all. Plus, she went blind for a period of time and just recovered not too long ago," Zen tried to convince Mr. Thompson.

"It might just be a coincidence that she designed the two garments. Or maybe they are drawings that have been done before she lost her memory. If Mr. Thompson were to confirm your collaboration with Ms. Swift, what if the later design quality were to be far off from these two designs? Or what if she couldn’t hand out any other designs?"

Wendy’s heart grew cold when she heard what Zen said.

She thought Zen wouldn’t fight against her even if they were to work for competing companies.

She never thought that Zen would attack her using her health condition.

Wendy could accept it if they were to make it strictly business and compete in terms of their capability.

Wendy looked at Zen and smiled in disappointment, shaking her head.

"Lost her memory? Went blind?" He then looked at Wendy, seemingly convinced by what Zen said.

The two designs were really great.

However, there was a total of twelve designs in the four-season series. If only two designs were perfect, it was far from enough. Mr. Thompson didn’t have the courage to agree with the collaboration if there was no guarantee of the latter quality.

Mr. Thompson looked into Wendy’s eyes and noticed her eyes were red. They were not how a normal person’s eyes were like.

Wendy took a deep breath and admitted openly, " Yes, I went blind before and I have yet to recover my lost memory as of now. However, my eyes are well recovered and I did the two designs in the past half a month’s time. As for memory loss, it isn’t a point of concern. I remember things about design. Inspiration, talent, and knowledge about designing are ingrained in my head. So, I will complete the following ten designs accordingly."

"Ms. Swift, please don’t blame me for being in doubt. If you really did lose your memory, it is difficult to ensure the drawings you hand over will be of the same quality," Mr. Thompson said, looking in a difficult position. He added, "Judging from the looks of your eyes currently, they aren’t great. If, I mean if, you have problems with your eyes again, wouldn’t I be in big trouble?"

"I understand your concern. DR can definitely hand you the drawings according to the agreed timeline. But, Mr. Thompson, you have to take the design quality into consideration too.

There’s always risk in business. You should know it very well. According to the two designs I have on hand, your company can definitely make a net profit of one billion dollars within a year after launching the four-season series.

On the other hand, you can also base on DR’s quality and estimate if you could get your cost back within a year.

The biggest risk on my side will be my eyes but you should understand that I care for my eyes more than you do.

So, I believe that you should know better which party carries a lower risk."

"This..." Mr. Thompson found himself in a dilemma.

It was the first time Zen is fighting against Wendy in the business scene. She had to admit that Wendy was also better than her in negotiation.

Zen had no choice but to give in on the profits. She offered, "Mr. Thompson, if you were to sign the contract with our company today, on behalf of DR, I am going to give you another three percent of the profit."

Wendy couldn’t help but swept a glance at Zen, hearing her offer.

It seemed that Zen was willing to sacrifice their hard-earned capital just to get Mr. Thompson.

Mr. Thompson obviously beamed when he heard the three percent offer.

He was a businessman after all. He would of course weigh the profit.

With the extra three percent, he could make a net profit of a few hundreds of million dollars instead of only getting back the capital within a year.

In other words, DR shouldered the risk of loss completely.

Wendy let out a sigh in utter disappointment. She turned to Zen and asked, "Do you really want to take hold of our client with such measure?"

Zen lowered her chin, avoiding eye contact with Wendy. She replied apologetically, "I’m sorry, Wendy. I can’t lose this collaboration."

"Is it you who can’t lose it? Or is it Christian who can’t lose it?" Although Wendy lost her memory and didn’t know what kind of a person Christian was, she knew clearly why he entered the lock-up.

Looking at Zen, Wendy added, "Don’t you know what kind of a person Christian is? Why are you still helping him? You have many options to choose from. I welcome you to MC too if you are willing to..."

Before Wendy could finish her sentence, Zen shook her head, smiling.

Wendy smiled too. She nodded, saying, "I understand then."

If so, she had to take vigorous measures too.

"Mr. Thompson, I can represent MC and sign a gambling contract with you!" Wendy said, lifting her chin slightly.

Zen was astonished when she heard the term ’gambling contract’.

She thought offering another three percent of profit was the greatest offer one could give.

Zen panicked. She seemed to be reminding Wendy, "Wendy, gambling contract is not a game. Did you lose your memory and have zero concept of what a gambling contract is?"

Wendy waved. She didn’t bother listening to Zen. She looked at Mr. Thompson and continued, "Mr. Thompson, your concern is that the condition of my eyes might affect the timeline and quality of me handing in the upcoming drawings. I can represent MC and sign a gambling contract with your company. During the year when the series is officially launched, as long as you guarantee to promote the series with full force and make it your flagship series, we will shoulder all the risk. If you are making a net profit lower than one billion dollars, we will compensate your company with double the amount."

"Are you serious?" Mr. Thompson became excited when he heard Wendy’s offer. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com

Once the contract came into effect, it was far more attractive than the three percent profit.

On top of that, Wendy’s design no doubt had better quality assurance as compared to Zen’s. freewёbnoνel.com

Wendy took out the one and only risk so Mr. Thompson had no threat against him.

"Yes," Wendy nodded.

"Can you make such an important decision?" Mr. Thompson was worried that Wendy was merely giving the offer then as a measure to delay his collaboration with DR.

"Don’t you watch the news?"

"Huh?" Mr. Thompson was puzzled when he heard Wendy’s question.

"I am MC Group president’s wife and the person in charge for both HG and MC. I am also the main designer for the four-season series. I, of course, can make the call. I hope that you understand one thing. I am signing the gambling contract, not with the intention of losing money but because I am confident that I can bring in a billion dollar profit for your company," Wendy said with great confidence.
