Chapter 183: Complicated Feelings

The next day, seeing that the weather was pretty pleasant, Michael said, "Wendy, why don’t I help you to the garden downstairs? The weather is pretty good today, you should go out for a breath of fresh air."

Hearing Michael say that the weather was pretty good, Wendy looked outside unconsciously.

Unfortunately, she couldn’t see anything at all.

Although she felt disappointed internally, she didn’t let it show at all.

She nodded and said, "Sure, it’ll be good to go out for a walk."

Michael brought Wendy and the two kids down.

The garden in the hospital wasn’t very big but it was still spacious enough to take a walk.

Since the weather was quite pleasant, quite a few people were strolling in the garden.

Michael wanted to help Wendy rest on a bench but after taking a look around, he realized that all the benches were already taken.

Thankfully, someone stood up and left soon after and Michael led Wendy over before saying, "Wendy, let’s take a seat over there. Be careful."

Jake and Leah had already run over quickly and Leah even waved towards them and said, "Mommy, daddy, quickly come over here."

Upon hearing her daughter’s voice, Wendy’s face lit up. She was thinking that if she didn’t lose both her sight and her memories, she would probably be very blissful as well. Not only did she have two very adorable and bright children, she also has a good husband who loves her very much. And she also knew that she was a designer who already had a certain position in the world.

Both her career and family were successful. freewёbnoνel.com

They seemed like such a perfect family so why did her relationship with Michael become so bad?

Even Zen wasn’t willing to tell her about what had happened between her and Michael and it made Wendy extremely curious. But since Zen didn’t want to say anything, she had practically no way of finding out what happened from others.

Looks like she could only wait till she remembered it on her own.

Wendy was so deep in thought that she didn’t pay attention to her feet and ended up tripping.

Her entire body fell on one side.

Michael who was holding onto her felt her lose her balance and immediately pulled her so she fell into his arms instead.

His reaction and actions were so fast that even he hadn’t expected that. So he also lost his balance and fell to the ground.

Michael was afraid that Wendy would fall on the ground so he hugged her tightly, causing her to fall on him.

After all that, Wendy felt herself fall on Michael so she immediately asked with concern, "Michael, how are you? Are you okay? Did you hurt yourself?"

Wendy regretted being so deep in thought while walking just now.

She already lost her sight but yet she was still so careless. Michael felt a sharp pain shooting through his back as there was something sharp poking at his flesh. It was probably a sharper rock.

He let out a low grunt unconsciously but hearing Wendy’s concerned tone and her blaming herself, Michael didn’t dare to let out any cries of pain but instead said that, "It’s alright, I’m tough so it doesn’t matter even if I fall. Are you hurt anywhere?"

"I’m fine." Wendy heaved a sigh of relief upon hearing Michael say that he was fine.

Seeing that the two of them had fallen down, Leah and Jake went to help them up.

Although they do not have enough strength to do anything.

After Wendy and Michael stood back up, Jake saw the blood on Michael’s back as he said, "Daddy, your ba..."

Michael immediately shook his head at Jake’s words.

Jake understood what Michael meant and immediately kept quiet.

"What’s wrong?" Wendy asked.

"It’s nothing, there was just someone behind just now but they’ve gone around us," Jake replied.

Wendy frowned suspiciously, she had not heard any footsteps after all. But now that she couldn’t see anything, she could only take their words for it.

Michael didn’t want Wendy to worry, so he did not tell her about the wound on his back.

However, Jake saw that his father’s back was bleeding and was worried. As a result, after strolling around the garden for a short while, Jake claimed that he was tired and wanted to leave.

When they returned to the room, Jake held his father’s hand and said to Wendy, "Mummy, Daddy and I are going somewhere and will be back in a while."

"Where are you two going?" Wendy asked.

"I want Daddy to buy me something to eat. I feel like having oranges." Jake asked, "Mummy, do you feel like having anything?"

"I’m not hungry. You guys go ahead. Be careful!" answered Wendy.

Didn’t Jake say he was tired when they were in the garden earlier? Why did he want to go out again to buy oranges so soon?

After informing Wendy, Jake quickly pulled Michael out of the room. "Daddy, hurry up and get your wound cleaned up. It’s bleeding badly," said Jake, his voice full of worry.

Michael felt warmth suffuse his chest at his son’s words. He was overjoyed that Jake was concerned about him.

As his mouth pulled upwards at the corners into an unconscious smile, Michael felt greatly comforted. Jake noticed the smile on his father’s face and asked curiously, "Dad, why are you smiling? Doesn’t it hurt?"

"It did, but it doesn’t hurt anymore," replied Michael, still smiling. His brow furrowed,

the little boy looked at Michael uncomprehendingly.

After Michael and Jake left the room, Wendy called out, "Leah..."

"Mummy." The moment the little girl heard Wendy calling for her, she ran to the bed and caught her mother’s hand.

"Where did Daddy and Jake go?" Wendy could sense something was up with those two. In fact, she had felt something was strange ever since she fell. However, she knew that it was no use trying to get the truth out of Michael and Jake. They would definitely not tell her.

Her only chance to find out the truth laid with Leah.

In response to Wendy’s question, Leah blinked adorably and replied, "Jake said he wanted an orange. Didn’t you hear him earlier, Mummy?" freēwēbnovel.com

"Did anything happen in the garden earlier?"

"Well..." Leah’s expression was conflicted.

Jake had specifically told her not to let Mummy know about Daddy’s injury, otherwise Mummy will be worried.

Wendy noticed Leah’s hesitation in answering her question. She knew Leah must be hiding something from her.

"Leah, let me ask you something. Who is your favorite? Daddy, Mummy, or Jake?"

"Mummy, of course," Leah replied without any hesitation.

"In that case, shouldn’t you answer me truthfully when I ask you a question?" Wendy prodded gently, slowly leading Leah to the answer she wanted.

"But Mummy, I promised Jake I wouldn’t tell!" she exclaimed uncomfortably.

"You should honor your promises. Leah is not wrong there," Wendy praised her daughter. However, Leah’s words made her feel even more sure that something had happened earlier.

"Mummy, are you angry?" Leah looked closely at Wendy’s expression. She was afraid her mother would be angry at her for not answering her question.

"No, Mummy is not angry," answered Wendy as she patted Leah’s head gently.

"Ah, I think I’d better tell you, otherwise I will feel bad," muttered Leah. "Actually, when we were at the garden, Daddy fell and hurt himself. He cut his back on a rock and there was a lot of blood."

"He fell?" Wendy had known that something wasn’t right at that time!

Had Michael ended up injuring himself because he was trying to protect her when she stumbled?

The thought of that made her feel complicated.
