Chapter 179: Tell Me About Me And Michael
When Michael brought Leah back to the hospital, he had to suppress his emotion on purpose to maintain his composure on the outside.
Jake wasn’t worried if Michael would do anything to Leah. He was only worried that Michael finds out that Leah was his daughter.
To Jake, he had already approved of Michael as his father. So, Jake thought it would be good if Michael found out the truth.
However, he thought of how his mom had yet to recover her memory and his mom had always wanted to hide the fact that Leah was Michael’s daughter from Michael.
Hence, Jake had no choice but to consider the situation, putting himself in Wendy’s shoes.
Leah took out the toy that she picked up for Jake. Then, she handed it over to him happily, saying, "Jake, I picked this just for you."
Jake accepted the toy and said thank you.
He stopped playing with toys long ago. But seeing how delighted Leah was, Jake didn’t want to be a party pooper. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
Holding Leah’s hand, Jake looked at Michael, asking, "Daddy, why did you bring Leah out and buy so many things?"
Before Michael could answer him, Leah asked Jake with anticipation, blinking her big innocent eyes, "Jake, you called Uncle Michael ’daddy’. Can I call him ’daddy’ too?"
Michael just reminded her earlier to refer to him as ’Uncle Michael’ in front of the others and she could only call him ’daddy’ when they were only two of them. But Leah saw that Jake called him ’daddy’ and she wanted to follow suit.
From Leah’s point of view, she and Jake were a pair of twins. Jake called Michael ’daddy’ and she thought she could call him ’daddy’ too.
Jake heard what Leah asked and his face grew somber. He couldn’t help but eye Michael up and down suspiciously.
Micheal coughed softly, acting awkwardly.
Jake held Leah’s hand and pulled her out of the ward behind him.
"Jake, what’s wrong?" Leah asked.
"What did Uncle Michael tell you when he brought you out?" Jake asked.
Leah recalled what Michael told her. He said that Jake and mommy might be upset if they were to find out the game they played that day.
Leah didn’t want them to be upset.
So, Leah answered, "Uncle Michael said that he can buy me anything I like. He also said that he will bring me out again."
"Anything else?" Jake asked closely.
"What else? Uncle Michael said so many things to me. I can’t remember everything."
Jake frowned, looking like he was in deep thought.
Leah tugged Jake’s hand, asking him with anticipation, "Jake, I want to call Uncle Michael ’daddy’ as you do. Can I?"
Jake looked at the way his sister looked at himself and felt soft-hearted.
Jake hesitated and said, "Sure, go ahead and call Uncle Michael ’daddy’ as well then."
"That’s great! I have a daddy too!" Leah received a definite answer and she let go of Jake happily. She ran back into the ward and hugged Michael’s leg, calling sweetly, "Daddy."
Michael panicked when he heard her calling him ’daddy’.
She called him that in front of Jake and Wendy.
Leah blinked innocently and said, "Jake said that I can call you ’daddy’ as he does."
Michael heard what Leah said and he saw Jake walking into the ward. He somehow felt guilty about what happened earlier.
He stroked Leah’s head as he saw Jake nodded at him.
He let out a breath of relief. But Wendy had yet to agree.
Wendy lost her memory and he wasn’t sure how she thought of him.
If Wendy disagreed, Michael could only continue to wait.
He would respect Wendy’s decision then.
Michael looked at Wendy as he asked her cautiously, "Wendy, can I?"
Wendy had been listening to their conversation.
She hadn’t planned on saying anything but Michael had asked her directly.
Wendy bit her lip, not knowing how to answer him as well.
She didn’t remember what had happened between her and Michael, neither could she remember why she didn’t want Leah to acknowledge Michael back then.
If she agreed now, what if she regrets this in the future when she regains her memories? But Wendy could hear the anticipation laced in Michael’s and Leah’s tones and she couldn’t bear to disappoint them.
After giving it some thought, Wendy turned to Leah and said, "Leah, you can call him whatever you like."
All Michael wished was for Leah to call him ’Dad’ as Wendy thought, "He probably still doesn’t know the relationship between him and Leah."
After hearing Wendy say that, Michael immediately nodded his head in excitement as he said, "Then you can call me daddy, Leah."
Leah raised her head and looked at Michael sweetly while smiling happily before calling, "Daddy..."
"Good girl." Michael knelt down so that he was the same height as Leah before patting her head.
The smile on his face was wholehearted.
From now on, his daughter would be able to call him ’daddy’ without having to hide.
Leah winked at Michael before giggling and whispering, "Aren’t I clever?"
After hearing that, Michael understood that Leah had purposely called him ’daddy’ in front of Wendy. What a clever little imp.
"You’re extremely clever," Michael whispered back.
Seeing the two of them whispering to each other, Jake’s face fell.
He couldn’t help but size up Michael.
Does he know that Leah is his daughter when he brought her out today?
Wendy had been recuperating in the hospital for quite a number of days already so her injuries have already mostly recovered.
Mary’s school had already been urging her to return to class so Michael let her go back first.
Wendy’s situation had already improved tremendously as she was able to move around frequently and she was even able to head downstairs to the hospital’s garden for a walk.
Her grandmother, Zen, and the others would also visit Wendy at the hospital everyday and talk to her.
Meanwhile, Michael stayed at the hospital the whole day.
When it was the weekends, Zen was on holiday so she came to the hospital early in the morning.
Seeing that she has arrived, Michael took the fruits nearby and said, "You guys talk, I’ll wash these fruits for you guys."
Because of Christian Lucas, Michael actually had a pretty big prejudice against Zen.
However, Zen had been trying her best to help and take care of Wendy these few days. So Michael could only hold back his personal matters with Christian for now.
The most important thing right now is Wendy.
Zen sat beside Wendy and held her hand. Seeing that she was looking better everyday, Zen naturally felt more relieved.
Her guilt also lessened a little.
If Wendy had really died in that car accident, Zen would never be able to forgive herself.
Although the car accident had nothing to do with Zen, Christian is the person she loves after all.
Zen would definitely feel guilty if her best friend died at the hands of the man she loves.
"Why don’t you tell me about me and Michael?" Wendy was actually quite curious about what had happened between her and Michael.
And whether their relationship previously was a good one.
After Wendy had awoken, Todd had left because of his work so he didn’t tell her much about the things that happened in the past.
Additionally, Wendy only met Todd in Rheinsville City so he had no idea about Michael and her five years ago.
As for her grandmother, she had only told Wendy about the good things of Michael.
