Chapter 701: Chapter 701: Admitting Weakness

Xiao Yingzi had braced herself. Her heart was pounding and her nerves were stretched taut. Her entire body went rigid, her mind filled with a mixture of shyness and unease as she imagined what Lin Kuang might do next. The more she thought about it, the more uneasy she became.

However, after closing her eyes and waiting for a while, Xiao Yingzi realized Lin Kuang hadn’t touched her at all. Curious, she couldn’t help but open her eyes.

Lin Kuang was looking at Xiao Yingzi, feeling conflicted. Her actions had left him at a complete loss for what to do.

"Hey, are you going to do it or not?" Seeing Lin Kuang hesitate, Xiao Yingzi couldn’t resist asking.

The moment the words left her mouth, her pretty face flushed red. Her words made it sound as though she was looking forward to him doing something to her, and she mentally kicked herself.

"Of course I do! Why wouldn’t I? I was just deciding where to start!" Hearing Xiao Yingzi’s slightly provocative tone, Lin Kuang felt a surge of anger.

He really wanted to take this woman for himself. And yet, he couldn’t bring himself to go through with it. If he really took Xiao Yingzi, he would never be able to get rid of her in the future.

"Alright, you win. Let’s just forget it for today. I’m not in the mood," Lin Kuang said with great frustration, sitting on the bed. A beautiful woman had offered herself up, and he hadn’t done anything. It was maddening!

Hearing his words, Xiao Yingzi, who was lying on the bed, was taken aback. A wave of relief washed over her, but mixed with that relief was a tinge of disappointment. It seemed she was disappointed that Lin Kuang hadn’t taken things further.

Pfft, Xiao Yingzi, what are you thinking?! Are you that desperate for a man?! Xiao Yingzi berated herself harshly, her face blushing as she sat up.

"You’re the one who said it," she said coolly, looking at Lin Kuang. "Don’t go saying I didn’t let you touch me; you’re the one who gave up."

However, to Lin Kuang, it sounded like she was gloating after getting the better of him.

"That’s right, I’m not going to take you, but I’ll collect some interest!" Lin Kuang said angrily.

The next moment, Lin Kuang spun around, wrapped his arms around Xiao Yingzi’s delicate body, and pressed his lips firmly against hers.

Xiao Yingzi’s body stiffened. She hadn’t expected him to launch such a sudden assault. But a deeper thought surfaced in her mind. Did I just lose my first kiss like that? So suddenly? I wasn’t prepared at all!

Lin Kuang couldn’t have cared less about her first kiss. He desperately needed to vent his frustration, and he poured it all into the kiss.

After what felt like an eternity, Lin Kuang finally released her.

Xiao Yingzi still hadn’t come back to her senses. The sensation had been wonderful; it felt as if every cell in her body was singing with pleasure.

"Have you spaced out?" Looking at the dazed Xiao Yingzi, Lin Kuang couldn’t help but ask.

"Ah... what? What did you say?" Hearing him speak, Xiao Yingzi finally snapped out of it. She stared at him blankly; it was clear she hadn’t heard a word he’d said.

"I asked if you’ve spaced out," Lin Kuang couldn’t help but repeat, looking at her dazed expression.

"No, I’m fine. Really," Xiao Yingzi hurriedly explained.

She was feeling more than fine. In fact, she was still immersed in that wonderful sensation. If Lin Kuang hadn’t snapped her out of it, who knows how long she would have savored the memory.

"You’re sure you’re okay?" Lin Kuang asked, not quite believing her.

"I’m sure," Xiao Yingzi said earnestly, looking him in the eye.

"Alright, as long as you’re okay," Lin Kuang relented. "How are your injuries?"

"They’re mostly healed," she said with an endearing honesty. "But I still can’t do anything too strenuous, and I can’t circulate large amounts of True Qi, or the meridians in my abdomen will hurt."

"Oh, that’s good. In that case, just rest here for a few days," Lin Kuang said with a smile, and Xiao Yingzi nodded in agreement.

"Oh, right. Why did you help me back then?" Lin Kuang asked, his gaze full of curiosity. "You knew that even together, we were no match for Chen Fengyuan. So why did you still step in?"

Hearing this, Xiao Yingzi seemed stunned. "I... I don’t know," she said after a moment’s thought. "I just wanted to save you. I didn’t want you to die."

As she spoke, her fair cheeks flushed a shade pinker.

In truth, even she didn’t know why she had wanted to help Lin Kuang back then. She just hadn’t wanted to see him die. As for what kind of feeling that was, perhaps the Xiao Yingzi of the future would come to understand.

Hearing this, Lin Kuang glanced at her again. I’m not sure why she helped me. Could it be that she likes me? It’s possible. After all, I am quite handsome.

"Alright, you get some rest. I’m going to rest for a bit too. I have to go out tonight," Lin Kuang said.

"Oh? What are you going to do?" Xiao Yingzi couldn’t help but ask.

"I’m going to hunt for the Ice Silkworm," Lin Kuang said with a hint of resignation. "But whether I can find it or not will depend on fate."

"Oh, I’ll come with you," Xiao Yingzi said immediately.

"No need. Your injuries haven’t fully healed yet. Just rest here for a couple of days. We can talk about it after you’ve recovered.

"Besides, it’s not guaranteed we’ll find the Ice Silkworm tonight, though it would be great if we did."

"Fine," she relented. "I’ll wait for you here. But you have to remember to come back for me. Don’t you dare abandon me, you hear? Or I’ll hunt you down all the way to the East Sea!" she warned him with a fierce look.

"Er... don’t worry, I won’t," Lin Kuang said earnestly. "How could I bear to abandon such a beautiful woman? Just wait for me here. I promise I’ll come back as soon as I find the Ice Silkworm."

"Hmph, that’s more like it. I’m going to focus on healing now." With that, Xiao Yingzi sat cross-legged on the bed, closed her eyes, and began to circulate her energy to heal.

Seeing this, Lin Kuang smiled. He also sat cross-legged on the bed and began his cultivation, waiting for night to fall.
