Chapter 668: Chapter 668: Local Ranking Assassin
Seeing this, Lin Kuang was slightly stunned. He really hadn’t expected Chen Feng to be so thoughtful. With that thought, he put away the car keys. "Thank Chen Feng for me."
With that, Lin Kuang strode out of the airport. At the entrance, a man was waiting by an SUV. When the man saw Lin Kuang, he hurried over. Standing respectfully before him, he said, "Hello, Mr. Lin. This is the car Mr. Chen prepared for you."
"Okay, thanks," Lin Kuang said.
"You’re welcome. It’s my pleasure," the man replied. "If there’s nothing else, Mr. Lin, I’ll be taking my leave."
"Alright, go ahead. See you around," Lin Kuang said.
The man nodded respectfully and turned to leave.
Watching the man go, Lin Kuang opened the car door, tossed his backpack onto the back seat, and got in, driving straight for Heavenly Mountain. His destination was Heavenly Mountain, though any peak would do. After all, he had no idea where to find the Snow Lotus or the Ice Silkworm, and the search for the latter would be a matter of pure luck.
Shortly after Lin Kuang drove off, several other groups also arrived at the airport. They, too, left and drove straight for Heavenly Mountain.
As he drove, Lin Kuang’s heart pounded with urgency. He knew being anxious was useless, but he couldn’t help himself. "Ice Silkworm, oh, Ice Silkworm, you have to let me find you!" he muttered.
If the Ice Silkworm could hear him, it would probably curse him to death. *You shameless bastard! Why the hell should I let you find me?*
A little over an hour later, Lin Kuang reached the foot of Heavenly Mountain. He found a small road leading up the mountain and followed it, planning to drive as far as he could before abandoning the vehicle. He drove for some time until the road ended. Left with no other choice, Lin Kuang got out and shouldered his backpack.
Gazing at the dense forest and the faintly visible snow-capped peaks, the excitement in his recently calmed heart reignited.
Time to head up!
He checked the time; it was already four in the afternoon. He started his ascent immediately, planning to reach the snow line before nightfall so he could begin searching for the King Snow Lotus and the Ice Silkworm the next day. He knew this wasn’t a one-day task, so he had to endure his impatience. With that thought, he prepared to enter the forest.
Just then, he heard the roar of an engine from down the mountain. Clearly, someone was coming. Lin Kuang frowned. In a flash, he disappeared into the forest and found a place to hide.
Two or three minutes later, an SUV came into view and parked right behind his own. Four men got out. They were all in their thirties or forties, dressed in athletic wear, with cold, detached expressions that marked them as anything but ordinary. Although they concealed their Killing Intent well, Lin Kuang’s sharp Perception still picked it up.
These four are Assassins! Assassins? Are they here to kill me?
Lin Kuang’s brow furrowed. He then recalled Klaus and Daniel mentioning the Killer List’s Terrestrial List. His expression turned grim, and he became even more cautious.
They’re likely Assassins from the Terrestrial List. Their strength is clearly much greater than that of Klaus and Daniel. So, they really did come to kill me! Interesting... Assassins from the Terrestrial List, are they? Since you’ve come, none of you will be leaving today.
Lin Kuang’s own Killing Intent flared within him, but he concealed it perfectly.
Wait, no, there’s another person in the car!
Just as he thought there were only four of them, his sharp Perception, amplified by the Force of Nature, sensed someone else inside the vehicle. The person seemed to be deliberately hiding. If not for his keen senses, Lin Kuang would have never detected them.
It seems the person in the car is the important one, he thought, his expression turning ugly. He suppressed his aura completely, making sure not to make a single sound or give off any presence.
"Come on out. We’re here," the apparent leader of the four said.
A lazy voice drifted from inside the car. "So soon? I was planning to rest a bit longer."
The voice didn’t sound old, but like that of someone in their twenties, which shocked Lin Kuang. He knew the person in the car was powerful; he just hadn’t expected them to be so young. As the man spoke, the car door opened, and a young man stepped out. He looked to be in his twenties, his eyes narrowed into a smile. He looked less like an assassin and more like an ordinary, cheerful youth.
But this is what a real assassin is like, Lin Kuang knew. You can’t distinguish them from an ordinary person.
The young man wore a black Zhongshan suit with black cloth shoes.
"Just look at you all, brimming with Killing Intent," the young man said with a sigh, glancing at the four men beside him. "Are you afraid people won’t realize you’re assassins?" His tone was exasperated, like an adult chiding disobedient children.
"Xiao Chenfeng, shut your mouth!" the leader of the four snapped, his eyes filled with anger. "Don’t think you can boss us around just because you’re ranked a few spots higher!"
Xiao Chenfeng just smiled, his tone outrageously arrogant. "What’s the matter, Han Da? A few ranks higher? Unhappy about it? If you’re not happy, then bring it on. You think I, Lord Xiao, am afraid of you? And are you really sure it’s only *a few* ranks?"
At his words, the expressions of the four brothers—Han Da, Han Er, Han San, and Han Si—turned ugly.
"Xiao Chenfeng, we’re here to kill the King of the Underworld, not to fight you!" Han Da said, his gaze filled with both Killing Intent and wariness. "If you want a fight, we can have one after we deal with the King of the Underworld. Then we four brothers will kill you!"
After all, Xiao Chenfeng was one of the top twenty assassins on the Killer List’s Terrestrial List, and rumor had it his true strength was even greater than his rank suggested. The man didn’t take his work seriously, only accepting missions when he felt like it and refusing to be controlled by the organization. As a result, his rank remained stagnant. This was why the four Han brothers were wary of him. If not for his fearsome reputation, they would have attacked him long ago instead of putting up with his insolence.
"Heh heh," Xiao Chenfeng said with utter disdain. "You four pieces of trash actually think you can kill the King of the Underworld? The King of the Underworld is right here. Can you even sense him?"
