Chapter 24: Chapter 24: You’re Only a Little Stronger Than a Good-for-nothing

「At noon.」

The docks were packed with a dense, dark mass of people.

A continuous murmur of discussion rose from the crowd.

A large contingent of Giant Whale Gang members had assembled, all tall and imposing with cold expressions.

In their midst sat a young woman in black martial arts attire. Her eyes were closed, her expression icy and indifferent, making her seem unapproachable.

"What’s happening?"

"What else could be happening? Lu Yao of the Giant Whale Gang challenged the Red Sand Gang’s branch master..."

"The Red Sand Gang’s branch master? You mean Chen Xuan?"

"Of course. Chen Xuan just defeated Zhang Lie, so Lu Yao of the Giant Whale Gang is here to get even..."

"That Lu Yao is really something else..."

"No kidding. When she was in the city, she pulled off an extreme one-versus-seven, single-handedly defeating a joint attack from seven masters at the Fifth and Sixth Layer of Dark Energy. She made her name in that one battle!"

"Chen Xuan is in deep trouble this time..."

"How many moves do you guys think Chen Xuan can last against her?"

"Last a few moves? I say he won’t even last three..."

"Hush, hush! We shouldn’t be talking about this..."

Many in the crowd whispered amongst themselves.

Their gazes converged on the young woman in black, a sense of awe rising in their hearts.

If Su Qingliu of the Red Sand Gang was a genius,

Then this Lu Yao was a genius among geniuses!

In all her previous duels, she held an overwhelming advantage.

She had never lost a single fight, no matter the opponent. frёeweɓηovel.coɱ

She had truly earned her reputation through combat. Her nickname was the Iron Maiden.

Although that Chen Xuan from the Red Sand Gang was also extraordinary,

They simply couldn’t imagine how he had the confidence to stand against Lu Yao.

The outcome of this fight seemed to be a foregone conclusion.

As the crowd murmured,

Suddenly, the crowd surged.

A large group of Red Sand Gang members ran over from the distance and began to clear the area.

"Move aside, move aside!"

"Our branch master is here! All of you, get lost!"

...

Lu Yao’s previously closed eyes snapped open. A cold glint appeared in her dark pupils as she looked toward the approaching crowd.

Chen Xuan, also robed in black, strode toward them from a distance.

’He actually dared to show up?’

A strange smirk touched Lu Yao’s lips as she rose to her full height. Her black martial attire fluttered gently as she strode forward, her expression cold. She radiated a calm confidence, sharp as a drawn sword, making it difficult for anyone to meet her gaze.

"You’re Chen Xuan?"

Her voice was clear and sharp.

"You know who I am. Why are you putting on an act?"

Chen Xuan retorted coldly, not holding back in the slightest.

’He had noticed a pattern.’

’Are all these girls fucking born with ice in their veins?’

’What’s with them all being so damn cold?’

’Su Qingliu was like that.’

’And now this Lu Yao shows up acting the same way!’

’It’s so damn weird!’

"What a sharp tongue!"

Lu Yao’s eyes narrowed, her features turning exceptionally sharp. "I hope your bones prove to be as tough as that mouth of yours!"

"Tough my ass!"

Chen Xuan said bluntly, "Let’s get one thing straight first. What happens when I win? Your Giant Whale Gang can’t take a single loss? Do you have to be sore losers every single time?"

"You can’t possibly win!"

Lu Yao’s eyes were cold.

"What if I do?"

"There is no ’what if’! Give up such an unrealistic idea!"

Lu Yao’s tone was cutting, her eyes staring down at Chen Xuan as if from a great height.

"I’ll make you understand that your so-called talent is nothing before me!"

"Your one and only purpose is to fall and become my stepping stone!"

...

"’Lu Zhentian is truly blessed to have a daughter like this. If she lives, her future accomplishments will be immeasurable...’"

The Eagle Claw Elder narrowed his eyes, watching the scene unfold.

Even he was stunned by Lu Yao’s talent and confidence.

"Fine!"

Chen Xuan said no more, his eyes fixed on Lu Yao. "Then let’s see you try!"

He laughed angrily to himself. ’So this is one of those girls with baseless confidence.’

’Words are wasted on people like her.’

’Only a heavy fist will do the trick!’

’That’s the only way to give her a rude awakening!’

"Then prepare to kneel!"

A smirk played on Lu Yao’s lips. Her body arched slightly, then she shot forward. WHOOSH! She charged out in an instant at an incredible speed.

She was moving at the absolute limit of speed.

A flickering afterimage was all that was seen before she appeared in front of Chen Xuan.

She sent a palm strike flying toward Chen Xuan’s torso.

Her palm was cupped, Dark Energy surging within it. She opened with her strongest palm strike.

Yet, Chen Xuan’s reaction was just as fast.

The moment Lu Yao lunged, Chen Xuan moved with equal speed. The muscles all over his body swelled and veins popped, making him seem a size larger in an instant. Without hesitation, he swung a palm viciously toward her.

BOOM!

A deafening roar vibrated through the entire dock.

It was like Mount Tai crashing down, unleashing vast, surging waves of Qi Energy that whistled sharply through the air.

The entire ground was trembling violently.

Gravel was swept up by sheets of Dark Energy, scattering wildly in all directions.

Meanwhile, Lu Yao herself was sent flying, as if struck by a terrifying beast. Blood trickled from the corner of her mouth as she landed some distance away. Her arms trembled, the sleeve of her right forearm completely shredded, revealing fair skin underneath marked by a red, swollen palm print.

An uproar swept through the onlookers, all of them staring wide-eyed.

Unbelievable.

"Lu Yao was sent flying!"

"She wasn’t sent flying, she actively flew back!"

"She was sent flying! Look at her arm!"

...

A chill entered the Eagle Claw Elder’s eyes as he stared at Chen Xuan.

’That brat...’

Chen Xuan’s entire frame seemed to have expanded. Power surged through him, and his skin gleamed like brass. His expression was grim, his presence as imposing as a mountain as he began to walk forward, step by step.

"A genius? I was wondering what kind of genius you were."

"You kept saying there were ’no what ifs,’ but it looks to me like you’re nothing special after all!"

"If I had to rate you, you’re only a little better than trash!"

His cold, deep voice carried waves of a powerful aura.

Lu Yao’s pupils contracted. She stared fixedly at Chen Xuan as an indescribable rage welled up inside her.

’That Chen Xuan!’

’He actually dares to lecture me!’

’Does he really think he has the upper hand?’

’That was just a probe!’

"Victory is mine!"

Lu Yao let out a sharp cry. Her body moved like a cheetah, once again charging Chen Xuan at top speed. A crimson glow emanated from her palm as she pressed her attack.

At the same time, she executed her Body Technique, weaving in an S-pattern. She flickered, moving with incredible speed, and landed a surprise palm strike squarely on Chen Xuan’s chest with a muffled THUD.

But Lu Yao’s expression quickly turned to shock.

Her strike felt like it had landed on a great brass bell. Her powerful Dark Energy didn’t pierce his skin and flesh as it always had before.

Instead, it felt like it had hit a barrier, a huge portion of its force simply blocked.

While she was still in shock, Chen Xuan, with a grim expression, clamped a large hand over her face. He grabbed her like a scarecrow, swung her around, and viciously slammed the back of her head into the ground.

"Stay down!"

BOOM!!

The terrifying sound shook the entire dock.

Lu Yao spat out a mouthful of blood, her head spinning from the impact. She started seeing stars... one, then two, then three...

But she was a genius, after all.

She recovered from the dizziness with shocking speed, and a deep, burning rage flooded her mind.

’From the day she was born, no one had ever humiliated her like this!’

’She had never failed so miserably before!’

"I’ll kill you!"

Lu Yao roared, her body erupting with power. She channeled a massive surge of Dark Energy to her face, trying to blast Chen Xuan’s hand away.

But Chen Xuan maintained his grip on her face, swinging her body and continuing to smash her into the ground again and again.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

He slammed her down another seven or eight times.

His movements were wild, his power overwhelming.

The onlookers were stunned into a renewed uproar.

Finally, Lu Yao managed to break free. She immediately backflipped away, disengaging from the fight. Her mouth was bloody, her hair was a mess—she was a picture of utter humiliation.

Her eyes were filled with a potent mixture of rage and madness.

’She was going to lose her mind!’

’To be humiliated again and again like this!’
