Lucian couldn’t believe it.
He only clenched his fists, feeling the strength coursing inside him, but then—
"What is it...?"
Evelyn, who was lying beneath him, questioned with a weak smile. The next instant, Lucian’s attention returned to her.
"Nothing."
He replied as he moved and lay down beside her.
Evelyn looked at him with a weak, exhausted smile on her face and—
"You... really are a sex demon..."
Lucian looked at her.
And she...
Evelyn looked breathtaking.
Her full breasts rose and fell quickly as she tried to catch her breath, a light sheen of sweat covered her flushed skin, making her glow softly, her dark hair was beautifully messy, spread across the pillow and sticking to her damp forehead and neck, a few strands clung to her slightly parted lips. Her eyes looked hazy and dreamy, there was a soft, satisfied smile on her face.
And as Lucian looked at her, he smiled gently.
"Were you doubting me?"
"I have trust issues."
Evelyn chuckled.
"Oh? What about now? Do you still doubt me?"
He asked as he placed his hand on her belly, Evelyn’s body shivered at his touch, Lucian smiled.
"I don’t..."
She answered.
"It was the best..."
She spoke with a dreamy look in her eyes, as if her body could still remember it clearly.
"Best? How do you know it was the best when you had no one to compare it to?"
Lucian asked jokingly, Evelyn however, only looked at him and—
"I just know."
For a moment, the two stayed silent, only looking into each other’s eyes. Then, as if wanting to change the topic, Lucian asked whatever question came to his mind.
"How is the Evelyn Starling a virgin anyways, I thought the life of a star is all about glamour, drugs and sex, were you an outcast?"
Clearly, he just wanted to joke and tease her a little but—
"My parents kept a strict eye on me since childhood because they wanted to sell my virginity when I turned twenty-two."
Lucian froze at those words.
"I wasn’t allowed to fall in love, have friends, I wasn’t even allowed to be in the same room with a man without one of my parents being present. They showed it as concern and the people believed them. By the time I grew enough to leave their influence, I couldn’t trust anyone."
Evelyn explained it all, but even as she talked about something like this, the beautiful smile on her face never faded.
"It all worked out well though, I got to have you as my first."
Lucian smiled at those words, he wanted to say how shitty her parents were but he could see how that was the last thing she wanted to talk about.
For now, she just wanted to have an easygoing conversation, so he did just that.
"That’s true, you got to start with the best."
He chuckled.
"Right."
Evelyn smiled as well, liking how he didn’t push further. She also liked how his fingers were gently rubbing her belly, it felt good.
Being loved and cherished...
It felt... strangely fulfilling.
It was a feeling she could get addicted to.
But...
She couldn’t enjoy this feeling for long. She noticed Lucian’s expression suddenly change and before she could even ask—
"Alaric’s here."
Lucian spoke up.
"Your commander?"
"Mhm."
"You need to go?"
"He is asking about me, he will come here if I don’t."
"How do you know all that?"
"I can hear it."
Lucian pointed at his ears.
"Superhuman senses huh...
Can you shoot lasers from your eyes as well?"
Evelyn asked curiously.
"I can’t."
Lucian pouted.
"Hmm, spider webs?"
"I am not Spider-Man."
"Can you fly?"
"You think?"
"Shapeshift?"
"Nope."
"What can you do then?"
Evelyn questioned with a curious look on her face and Lucian, he only got close to her, as if he was going to kiss her, Evelyn closed her eyes in anticipation and extended her lips. Lucian, however, moved past her lips and moved to her ears.
"You."
He whispered, then, after giving her earlobe a light nibble, he stood up.
"He’ll come here soon, we should wear our clothes."
He spoke as he started putting his clothes on.
"Do you intend to hide our relationship from your team?"
Evelyn questioned.
"Hmm? Why would I? What I do in my personal life has nothing to do with them."
Lucian answered.
"Besides, we can’t hide it from them anyways."
"Right...
Superhumans."
Evelyn nodded in understanding.
"Wait..."
Then suddenly, her expression changed.
"You think we are in a novel’s world?"
She questioned with a curious look on her face as she put her clothes on.
"If we are, the author’s one heck of a writer."
Lucian grinned.
"Why would you say that? He seems pretty shitt—"
"He might be watching, you know?"
Lucian looked at Evelyn meaningfully, Evelyn understood what he was trying to say and she nodded as well.
"Yeah, the author must be one heck of a writer, the world he created looks so real, he must be a genius in real life, he must be getting all the girls."
Lucian laughed at those words, he could see how false those words, especially the last sentence, were, but he didn’t dare say it out loud.
He just nodded.
Evelyn nodded back as the two put their clothes on.
"You think we are the main characters?"
"Well, we both have quite the backstories, I doubt we are the useless side characters."
"What if we are the villains?"
Evelyn asked curiously and at those words, Lucian suddenly paused, his violet eyes shone dangerously and he—
"If that’s true, then maybe this is a novel where the villains win."
He spoke confidently.
Evelyn smiled as well.
Then, before she could say anything—
Knock Knock Knock
A knock was heard on the door.
"Cross."
And Alaric called.
Evelyn turned to Lucian, she did know he had Incubus Blood and everything, but seeing what he said come true was still surprising.
Lucian knew what she was thinking, so he only grinned and bowed his head.
"Coming~"
He answered with his usual, amused tone as he waited for Evelyn to put her clothes on, once she was done, he walked towards the door and—
"Commander~
