The moment Samantha returned home, she let out a heavy sigh. Unable to contain herself any longer, she raised her hand and smashed the vase beside her.
The humiliation made her eyes burn with tears.
She was trembling with rage.
They still hadn’t figured out why Rose had been appointed as a specially appointed professor. Such a prestigious honor had been placed right in front of her, leaving her feeling suffocated.
To make matters worse, the Knight family’s attitude had also begun to change.
Margaret had only recently started treating her more warmly.
But now that Rose had suddenly risen to prominence, she had practically become a celebrity within their social circle.
Countless socialites had begun visiting the Knight family, asking about Rose and trying to build connections.
Margaret had even proposed holding a grand banquet to celebrate her.
This was practically a public declaration that the Knight family intended to strengthen their relationship with Rose.
And it would only make Rose even more confident.

“What happened?” Daisy asked as she walked out of her room.
Samantha’s eyes were red. “Rose... she’s blocking every path I have right now.”
Especially at such a critical moment.
Ethan’s release date still had been announced, and she hadn’t even secured her position within the Knight family.
She told Daisy everything that had happened over the past few days and how Rose had suddenly become the center of attention.
Daisy’s expression immediately darkened. “Who exactly is supporting Rose? She’s just an emergency physician, isn’t she? She’s never been particularly outstanding. Fine, she received credit for the new drug, but anyone with common sense knows that was simply G.S.’s compensation to her back then. Other than that, what does she have?”
Samantha shut her eyes in frustration. “I don’t know. Rose hasn’t revealed a single clue.”
Rose had done it deliberately.
She had intentionally kept everything hidden, only to make Samantha look like a fool during the interview and cause her to fail.
And now she had regained the Knight family’s favor.
If things continued like this, it would become increasingly disadvantageous for her.
Daisy’s expression hardened.
“We need to find a way to surpass her. We can’t remain this passive. Don’t worry. Mom will think of something.”

Rose had been incredibly busy over the past few days.
She received more than a dozen dinner invitations every day.
The fact that a twenty-seven-year-old had been appointed as a professor at NYU through a special appointment had caused a tremendous sensation throughout the academic world.
The Knight family had also been calling her constantly.
She had not answered a single call.
Eventually, Margaret sent her a text message:
[Rose, are you really that busy? Grandma heard the news. Such wonderful news deserves a celebration. How about this? Grandma will choose an auspicious date and hold a grand banquet for you.]
The hypocrisy made Rose feel sick.
It was nothing more than an attempt to tie her to the Knight family and benefit from her success.
Once again, she ignored the message.
At noon, while Rose finally had a brief moment to herself, Trevor called from overseas.
His voice was calm. “Congratulations.”
“You heard about it too?”
“It made the news here. I saw it.”
“Thank you. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you earlier.”
Trevor chuckled softly. “It doesn’t matter. We still have to follow the rules. I just wanted to tell you that I’ve finalized my return date. I’ll be back this weekend.”
Rose checked the calendar.
She immediately became excited. “I’ll be waiting for you.”
The thought of finally using the divorce certificate to transfer Ariel’s legal custody filled her with happiness, and her face lit up with joy.
Listening to her excitement, Trevor could almost picture her expression.
“The Robinson Family Resort project is having its grand opening. If you don’t mind, we could hold a celebration for you that day—to celebrate your becoming Ariel’s legal mother.”
Rose thought about it for a moment.
She remembered Margaret’s persistent attempts to host a celebration.
Rather than allowing the Knight family to tie her down once again, it would be better to let Trevor handle it.
That way, she could officially sever her ties with the Knight family.
“If it’s convenient for you, then I’m fine with it. Although I truly appreciate your help.”
Trevor replied calmly. “This is actually a blessing for the Robinson family. It’ll bring good fortune to the resort. I’m the one benefiting.”
He made his position very clear.
Rose laughed. “Mr. Robinson, you’re too straightforward.”
Trevor paused briefly. “I suppose I am. This is a celebration of your rebirth—of leaving the wrong person behind. That’s worth celebrating.”
The smile in Rose’s eyes softened.
In the end, she agreed.
She would bring Ariel with her.
She was ready to move forward.

Trevor had only three days left before returning to the United States.
However, everything was arranged very efficiently.
That very evening, Rose received detailed plans for the celebration banquet that would be held at the resort. Trevor even asked whether she had any preferences or dislikes.
Rose was surprised.
Still, she didn’t make any special requests.
She simply replied that everything was fine.
Not long afterward, Diana called.
Excitedly, she exclaimed, “The Robinson family is throwing you a celebration banquet? Oh my God, that’s incredible!”
Diana was still working overtime editing footage, but the moment she heard the news, she couldn’t wait to call.
If even Diana was this shocked, Rose could only imagine everyone else’s reaction.
“I don’t see any problem with it.”
After all, she was divorced.
She had the divorce certificate.
She was a free woman.
Besides, having Trevor arrange everything would completely destroy Margaret’s plans.
It was far better than being dragged back into the Knight family’s affairs later.
She had already experienced firsthand what the Knight family was capable of.
It was better to act first.
Diana became even more excited. “You’re keeping yourself away from that den of monsters, but if the Knight family finds out, won’t they be furious?”
Rose lay down on the bed. “I don’t care.”

She had known nothing about it.

The old matriarch slammed her prayer beads onto the table.
She looked toward Ryan, who had made a rare visit home that day.
Ryan sat calmly on the sofa with his legs crossed, watching the stock market on his phone.
His eyelashes lowered slightly as he kept his gaze on the screen.
“Is that so?”
Seeing his complete lack of urgency only made Margaret angrier.
“What right does the Robinson family have to interfere in Rose’s affairs? What does that make the Knight family? Won’t we become a laughingstock? Everyone in our social circle knows that you and Rose were husband and wife. The Robinson family is being completely inconsiderate!”
She had never expected the Robinson family to step in at such a critical moment.
“Call Rose! Tell her to refuse the Robinson family’s arrangements!”
Only then did Ryan slowly look up.
“And in what capacity would the Knight family host a celebration for her?”
Margaret frowned. “You were married for seven years. The Knight family has always treated her like one of our own.”
Almost as soon as she finished speaking, the old butler entered carrying a gold-embossed invitation.
“Madam, this is an invitation from the Robinson family.”
Margaret opened it.

Her face turned pale.
She nearly lost her breath.
The Robinson family had actually sent an invitation.
Even knowing perfectly well that Rose had once belonged to the Knight family.
Ryan looked at the invitation with cold eyes.
As expected, Trevor had personally sent it.
Whether it was intentional or not no longer mattered.
Ryan slowly rose to his feet and casually checked the time on his watch.
“You know very well that just as the Knight family publicly chose Samantha when she was at her peak, they could have done the same for Rose.”
He paused. “It’s simply that the Robinson family placed the right bet.”
