Chapter 109: Chapter 109 The Daughter They Chose to Blame
Ryan was so preoccupied with Samantha that Rose no longer had any desire to interfere.
After all, the light at the end of the tunnel was finally within reach.
Her happy life with Ariel was just beginning.
Before leaving work, Rose discovered that her new phone number had accumulated dozens of missed calls.
There were also several text messages.
[Rose, you’ve truly disappointed your father. Sam is your sister—how could you be so ruthless? Making her issue a public apology is nothing more than humiliating her. How is she supposed to hold her head high in this industry from now on? What will the Knight family think of her? How is she ever supposed to marry into that family? Was it because you encouraged him that Mr. Byrne made such a demand?]
[If you had persuaded Mr. Byrne not to treat Sam this way, your father would still acknowledge and cherish you.]
[Why aren’t you answering the phone? Rose, how can you be so heartless?]
Rose hadn’t expected that even after changing her number, Logan would still manage to track it down through the contact information listed in G.S.’s email records.
Every word cut deeply.
Every message was filled with emotional manipulation and criticism directed at her.
It was as if she—and not Samantha—were responsible for the entire situation.
Sometimes, Rose felt that love truly made people blind.
Whether it was Ryan’s romantic love or Logan’s paternal affection, both were unconditionally biased toward Samantha.
Sometimes, she had to admit it.
Samantha was a lucky person.
Like a beloved sweetheart, no matter what she did, there was always someone willing to clean up the mess afterward.
It had reached the point where Logan no longer cared that his own son had been used by Samantha and nearly died from a severe allergic reaction.
Instead, he seemed more concerned about whether Samantha might be "bullied" by Rose.
Was Mike even his son?
Did his stepdaughter matter more than his own flesh and blood?
Was his son’s safety really less important than ensuring Samantha married into the Knight family?
Rose found it utterly incomprehensible.
With a blank expression, she turned off the screen.
She didn’t know what Ryan had told Samantha—perhaps he had claimed that demanding a public apology had been Caleb’s idea.
But it didn’t matter.
She simply wanted Samantha to understand one thing:
Actions have consequences.
At ten o’clock that night, Rose received a screenshot from Caleb.
Caleb: She apologized, but she danced around the real issue and never addressed the core problem.
Rose glanced at the post.
Samantha: My younger brother has been ill recently, and I’ve been under tremendous stress. Out of concern for him, I panicked and administered the wrong medication, which led Peace Hospital to mistakenly believe there had been negligence on the part of their medical staff. I sincerely apologize to Peace Hospital and G.S. I hope everyone will view this matter rationally. On a side note, Peace Hospital provides exceptional medical care. My brother is safe today solely because of their tireless efforts and professional expertise. It is a hospital the public can trust.
Even Rose had to admit it.
Samantha’s ability to play both sides was remarkable.
After previously forcing Peace Hospital into an awkward position, she immediately used her massive online following to praise the hospital, helping restore its public image and attract goodwill.
As a result, Peace had little choice but to let the matter rest.
At the same time, she successfully avoided drawing attention to the fact that she had used her own brother as a pawn.
Of course, people within the industry knew better.
Only the public could be fooled.

The following day, Rose went to the hospital.
She first visited her mother, who remained unconscious.
After spending two hours there, she went to see her grandfather.
Recently, the hospital had contacted her several times regarding his worsening condition.
Rose thought that since she would soon receive her divorce certificate, it might be best to prepare him gradually.
At least then he would have time to accept the news instead of hearing it suddenly and suffering another shock.
Even after all these years, she still couldn’t understand one thing.
Why had Grandpa always liked Ryan so much?
Even now, with his memory fading in and out, Ryan was still one of the people he remembered most clearly.
Rose had prepared a nourishing medicinal broth herself and brought it along.
The moment she stepped off the elevator, she saw a familiar face.
Logan was pushing Daisy in a wheelchair.
Daisy appeared to have injured one leg and seemed to be discussing room arrangements with hospital staff.
The sight immediately put Rose on alert.
This was the same floor where her grandfather’s room was located.
Logan spotted her as well, and his expression instantly became complicated.
"Rose, are you here to visit your grandfather?"
At once, Rose realized that Logan knew exactly where her grandfather was staying.
Her beautiful face grew colder by the second. "What are you doing here?"
Daisy let out a mocking laugh. "We’re checking me into the hospital, of course. I just found out your grandfather’s room is right next to mine."
She smiled faintly. "Honestly, it’s quite convenient. He’s an elder, after all. Since you don’t visit often, I can help take care of him and show him some concern on your behalf."
Rose immediately understood the threat hidden beneath those words.
Her fists clenched. "Are you going to choose another hospital yourself, or do you want me to help you choose one?"
Back then, Logan had abandoned his wife and daughter the moment her mother fell into a coma.
Taking advantage of her grandfather’s illness and inability to care for her, he had sent Rose away to the countryside.
Her grandfather despised Logan and Daisy.
And now they wanted to become neighbors and play the role of caring family members?
Logan looked at her in disappointment. "Rose, how can you speak to Aunt Daisy like that?"
Only then did Daisy speak in a magnanimous tone. "It’s alright. I understand. She’s upset because her plan failed."
Daisy sighed dramatically. "She wanted to destroy Sam completely, but Ryan wouldn’t allow it. He even spent an enormous amount of money to settle everything for her. It’s only natural that she’s taking out her frustration on us."
As she spoke, Daisy shook her head. "Rose, has Ryan ever been this generous to you all these years?"
Her smile deepened. "A man’s money speaks volumes about where his heart truly belongs. Ten billion dollars. Isn’t his devotion to Sam obvious enough? And when they get married, the wedding gifts certainly won’t be any less impressive."
A wedding gift?
Rose nearly laughed.
The divorce certificate was only days away, and Daisy was already planning the wedding gifts.
"You and your mistress—are you leaving or not?"
Rose asked quietly, emphasizing every word.
Logan’s face darkened. "Ungrateful child!"
His voice rose sharply. "Speaking to your elders like that is disgraceful!"
The commotion drew the attention of the head nurse, who emerged from the nursing station.
"This is a patient ward," she scolded. "People need peace and quiet here. What’s going on?"
Daisy immediately turned toward her. "I’m sorry."
Her expression was full of helplessness. "Our younger daughter is arguing with her older sister and taking out her anger on us. Her father became upset, and things escalated."
The head nurse frowned.
She glanced disapprovingly at Rose, who was struggling to contain her emotions.
"She’s old enough to know better. Making her parents this angry is extremely unfilial."
Just then, Samantha and Ryan stepped out of the elevator.
Rose immediately noticed the intimate way Samantha was holding onto Ryan’s arm.
A trace of sarcasm flickered across her eyes.
Her grandfather had lived here for years, yet Ryan had rarely visited.
Now that Daisy had injured her leg, however, her future son-in-law was personally accompanying her and taking care of every detail.
"What’s going on?"
Samantha had obviously noticed Rose, but she was still upset about being forced to apologize.
Ignoring Rose entirely, she casually linked her arm through Ryan’s and turned toward the head nurse.
The nurse immediately noticed the intimacy between them and naturally assumed they were a couple.
With a patient smile, she said, "You, as the older sister, and you, as the brother-in-law, should really talk to your younger sister-in-law and stop her from making a scene with her parents in the hospital."
