Chapter 515: You’re a Lee now.

The next morning, the ’West Wing’ felt more like a clinic than a home. The doctor, a grey-haired man who looked like he had kept the Chairman’s secrets for decades, packed away his portable ultrasound machine with a professional, tight-lipped expression.

"It is exactly as you suspected, Jo-Pil," the doctor said, glancing at the four Alphas standing in a semi-circle behind my chair like a wall of expensive suits. "But it is still far too early for a visual confirmation or a heartbeat. The hormone levels are rising, but we won’t know for certain for another ten days."

"Ten days?" Seo-Jun barked, crossing his arms. "The Chairman wants a wedding in fourteen. We don’t have ten days to wait for a ’maybe’."

"Biology doesn’t follow a corporate schedule, Master Seo-Jun," the doctor replied calmly. He handed me a small bag of bottles. "For now, Jo-Pil, you must take these: prenatal supplements, folic acid, and a mild sedative if the stress becomes too much. Your body has been through a traumatic spike in hormones."

’Tell me about it.’ I rolled my eyes. ’With the way they had handled my heat, it would be a miracle if my hormones were normal.’

I stared at the bottles. They felt heavy in my palm. This was real. Even without a grainy black-and-white photo to prove it, these pills were the first anchor of my new reality.

"I’ll be back in ten days for the blood work," the doctor concluded, nodding to Ki-hoon before being escorted out by a silent guard.

The door hadn’t even fully closed before the room exploded into motion.

"Ten days is plenty of time," Jin-Yeok said, already back on his phone. "We will proceed with the preparations as if it’s a ’yes.’ If we wait for the ten-day mark, we will lose the venue and the tailor’s window."

"Tailors are in the sitting room," Min-Cheol chirped, though he looked a bit more serious today. He reached out as if to pat my shoulder, but stopped when I glared at him. "Come on, Jo-Pil. Don’t be mad. If you’re going to be a Lee, you need to look like one. They brought silk from Italy."

The rest of the day was so hectic, filled with measuring tapes and fabric swatches. And during all this, I felt like a mannequin.

People kept touching me—measuring my waist, adjusting my collar, muttering about ’shoulder-to-waist ratios’. But every time a tailor touched me, one of the four was watching.

Ki-hoon stayed in the corner of the room, his eyes never leaving me. He looked like he wanted to say something, but every time he stepped forward, Seo-Jun would interrupt with a comment about suit colors, or Jin-Yeok would pull him aside to discuss the guest list.

By the evening, I was exhausted. My skin felt sensitive, and the smell of the lunch they had served—a rich, buttery lobster—made my stomach do a slow, sickening roll.

"You look pale," Ki-hoon said, finally catching me alone in the hallway as I headed toward my room. He held out a glass of water and one of the supplement pills. "Here, have this."

"I can do it myself," I muttered, but I took the glass. In the process, my fingers brushed his, and I felt that same jolt of electricity from the night of the heat. I hated it. I hated that my body still reacted to him.

"The wedding is going to be big, Jo-Pil," he whispered, stepping closer so the others couldn’t hear. "The Chairman invited the heads of all the major conglomerates. It’s not just a ceremony. It’s an announcement." fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm

"An announcement that you bought the gardener’s son," I snapped, swallowing the pill.

"No," Ki-hoon said, his voice dropping into that low, intense tone. "An announcement that you are untouchable. Once that ring is on your finger, no one can look down on you or your father ever again. Not even us."

I looked at him, searching for a lie in his dark eyes, but all I saw was that same pained devotion. Before I could respond, a loud crash came from the living room—the sound of Seo-Jun and Min-Cheol arguing over the floral arrangements.

My new life was loud, crowded, and terrifying. And the clock was ticking down to the day I would officially become theirs.

What a mess.

The ten days were a blur of high-end misery.

Every time I turned a corner in the West Wing, there was a new wedding planner, a florist, or a jeweler waiting for me. I felt less like a bride and more like a centerpiece they were polishing for a gala.

The only thing that kept me grounded was the phone calls to my father. He sounded better—his voice was stronger, and he told me the hospital food was ’too fancy for an old gardener’. I simply laughed.

I didn’t tell him I was living in a nightmare; I just told him I was being taken care of.

Well, it wasn’t so bad that I would say I was suffering, but I didn’t have any freedom, and I didn’t feel like I was living anymore.

I was just... Breathing the air they wanted me to breathe.

On the ninth night, the West Wing felt unusually quiet. The planners had finally gone home, and the four Alphas were scattered throughout the house.

I was in the kitchen, looking for something that didn’t smell like expensive butter or truffle oil, when Min-Cheol walked in.

He wasn’t his usual chirpy self. He looked tired, his tie hanging loose around his neck.

"Ten days are up tomorrow, Jo-Pil," he said, hopping onto the counter with a smile on his lips. "Are you ready for the blood test?"

"As ready as I’ll ever be," I said, pouring a glass of plain water. "Does it even matter? The wedding is in four days. The invitations are already out."

"It matters to us," Min-Cheol whispered. He looked down at his hands. "Seo-Jun is acting like a maniac because he’s scared it’s not his. Jin-Yeok is already looking up elite preschools. And Ki-hoon... Ki-hoon looks like he’s waiting for a miracle."

"And you?" I asked, looking him in the eye. "What are you doing?"

Min-Cheol gave me a small, sad smile.

"I’m just wondering if you’ll ever look at me without wanting to run away. Even if the test is negative, the Chairman won’t stop the wedding. You’re a Lee now. There’s no going back." frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

Yeah, because I’ll definitely get pregnant along the way after the marriage. That’s what a high-breeding Omega is capable of, anyway.

"What about you, Jo-Pil? What are you feeling?"

I didn’t have an answer for him. I just finished my water and turned to leave.

The only thing I was feeling was discomfort and unease. It would take a long time before I got used to any of this.
