Chapter 220: Suddenly rich.

Mark clenched his hands, digging his nails into his palms. Why was this bitch so clever, he asked himself. How had she seen right through him?

He cleared his throat, "Marriage is a complicated affair, especially when two noble families are involved. You are not from a privileged background like ours, so you don’t understand. An ordinary, unattractive human woman. What does Elias see in you? That assassin should have done a better job."

Elias’s claws came out.

Sienna quickly grabbed his hand. "Not worth it."

He growled.

Sienna shook her head, "Elias, claws and fangs away."

He looked at her for a few seconds, and did as she said.

Mark’s eyes widened. Elias was not known for backing down once he unleashed his claws and got into battle mode. How could he do so after a command from this human woman?

A fork sailed through the air, hitting Mark’s chest. "Bad man, you want my mama to die." Ali screamed. "Papa, Eli, beat him."

Mark’s face turned crimson. "You ill-mannered brat..."

Elias leaped across the desk with a growl. This time, Sienna did not call him back. She made the children turn around and watch the view of the city while punches, grunts and please came from behind them.

By the times it was finished, Timothy had to bring in guards to carry Mark out as he could not walk by himself.

"Well, that was that." Sienna commented. frёeweɓηovel.coɱ

Elias pinched the bridge of his nose muttering, "He is a Twindell, not a Veythar so he doesn’t count as family."

Sienna patted his arm. "Take comfort in the knowledge that my family is the good one. You have no idea what a relief it is to know that we falcons are not the troublemakers here."

He huffed. "R word, Sienna, R word! Have you forgotten all about it?"

She curled her lips, "You are no fun."

Ali crossed her arms over her chest. "Hmph! no fan papa, you are no fan."

Elias picked her up like a kitten and grabbed Eli too. "Let’s go home. To a place where nobody can rush in and ruin our peace."

During the journey home, the cubs actually fell asleep. Elias had to carry them into the compound, leaving Sienna to moan over the loss of the sea side to winter, all for five minutes. She was about to reach the gates when a lion beast man steppes into her path His expression was polite, which put her at ease.

"Lady Sienna," he said, bowing stiffly. "Her Royal Highness the Queen sent me to deliver something." He had some papers in his hands that he handed to her.

Sienna perused over them, with Linera peeping over her shoulders. "A deed to a cottage. Why? I already have more than enough cottages."

The lion beast man straightened. "It is not just any cottage, it is one of the largest estates in the area. It’s the crab cottage which used to host crab races. The queen has acquired it. It is very spaces, has many ponds and sugar flowers, as you call them. The queen has decreed it shall be your office."

Linera groaned. "Oh no! I loved the crab races. It is one of the only sources of entertainment around here. Why did they have to take it away from us? Sienna already has an office."

"What happened to all the crabs?" Sienna asked. "Are they for sale? We could buy them and throw a crab buffet?"

The lion frowned. How was her mind focused on eating the crabs! "The crabs were flown away to a new location." He kept his voice solemn, "The queen is aware that you dislike flying into the city regularly. She has arranged this estate so you may continue with your official duties without excuse."

Linera whispered, "The royals want you in that office at all costs."

Sienna crossed her arms. "What about renovations? That place was used for crab races, I am sure the infrastructure catered to this. I am not paying for the necessary changes."

The lion hesitated. "The queen is paying for it."

Sienna laughed. "Wow! Serenya is all going all out. This feels like a bribe."

Linera added, "Logically speaking, refusing would be unwise. The queen is going all out to accommodate your preferences. She is paying out of her own pocket. This shows goodwill. To throw it back in her face is an insult. Anyway, you wanted to work from home so this is kind of like that."

She sighed. "Alright, let’s see my new office."

Reluctantly, she followed the lion beast man. It was a short walk, not more than twenty minutes at a moderate walking pace. She had seen the estate many times during her walks. Finally, she had a chance to venture inside.

It was covered by a large roof, which kept snow out completely. The grounds were sprawling, with large ponds. The air circulating around was warm, one only needed a light jacket inside the walls of this place.

Renovations were ongoing, but the walls had not been covered over. They still had painted images of crabs mid battle, or heroic in victory. ƒreewebɳovel.com

She stopped, staring at the crab that was holding a flag. "I bet you ten beast coins that this didn’t happen."

The lion laughed. "Actually it did..well sort of. The flag was wrapped around the crab’s claw and a picture was taken, while it was in standing position. From that picture, the artist painted this. They didn’t spare an expense, the artist was Dizzy Walker, his paintings sell of millions of beast coins. This entire section of the wall is worth at least fifteen million beast coins."

Sienna gasped. She turned to her aunt with wide eyes, "Aunt Linera, did you hear that? I am fifteen million richer."

Her aunt tilted her head downwards, "Eeeh, more like the queen is fifteen million richer."

Sienna shook her head. "The deed to the property is in my name aunt, remember?" She walked forward and hugged the wall, with a sentimental smile that had not been on her face before.

She did not notice the frown on her aunt’s face. Linera was wondering what the catch was. Some things were too good to be true, and this was one of those things.
