Chapter 257: Chapter 257

Zaeryn merely shrugged, an amused glint in his eyes, and left.

The heavy office door clicked shut behind him, leaving Jade alone on the floor. For a long moment, the quiet room was filled only with the sound of her ragged breathing. Slowly, the daze of arousal began to recede, and Jade forced her posture to straighten. Shivering slightly, she raised a hand to her temple, pressing her fingers against it as she let out a long, heavy sigh.

She looked down at her chest. The white, viscous fluid was cooling against her skin, pooled in the valley of her breasts and soaking ruinously into her shirt. It was proof of her absolute submission to a male. It should have disgusted her.

After leaving Jade’s office, Zaeryn navigated the quieter, more refined corridors of the senior academic wing, shaking off the lingering heat of Professor Jade’s office.

He spotted Ingrid through the glass walls of a tiered lecture hall. She was seated near the middle, glaring at her data-slate with intense focus.

He walked in and slid into the empty seat beside her.

"Hey," he murmured.

Ingrid didn’t look up. Her finger swiped across the screen, completely ignoring him.

He leaned a little closer, lowering his voice. "Still mad?"

Silence. She remained indifferent and still refused to acknowledge his presence.

Before Zaeryn could try another angle, hurried footsteps echoed down the walk way.

Genevieve’s face lit up the moment she spotted him. She bypassed two empty rows, slid into the seat on his other side, and immediately leaned in. She grabbed his uniform collar, pulling him into a deep, wet kiss right there in the middle of the lecture hall.

She pulled back, her lips slightly parted, breath warm, a faint flush rising along her cheeks. She stayed close anyway, refusing to give the space back.

"Found you," she whispered, her thigh already pressing against his.

Zaeryn smirked, returning to his sitting posture. He glanced between the two women sandwiching him. "Should you even be here? This is a senior class."

"Nope," Genevieve said happily, leaning her head on his shoulder. "This is a seniors’ class, and I’m an early senior. But Morticia said you were tracking down Ingrid. I wanted to see you before my period." She took his hand and put it around her shoulder, so she was leaning on him. She tilted her head and bit his ear playfully. freewёbnoνel.com

"You missed me that much?" he asked.

"Of course I did. We should hang out more." She offered, although it sounded more like a ready made decision.

"Yes we should."

"What are you doing after the lyceum?"

"I think I’ll do some training, but after that nothing, I guess,"

"Then can we meet up later on, or you can come over to my place?"

"Sure, we can meet up." Zaeryn turned to Ingrid, his arm resting on her thigh. "Ingrid can join us."

Ingrid scoffed quietly, finally breaking her silence, though she still didn’t look at him.

Zaeryn lifted his arm and wrapped it firmly around Ingrid’s waist, pulling her flush against his side. She stayed entirely rigid for three long seconds. Then, with a heavy, dramatic sigh, the tension bled out of her shoulders.

She leaned her weight against him, resting her head near his collarbone.

"Don’t you ever ditch me for anyone again. It was rude that you just left without saying anything," Ingrid muttered, her tone sharp but lacking real heat.

"Understood. And sorry for that," Zaeryn said, his hand rubbing a slow, comforting circle on her hip. "It won’t ever happen again." He pulled her closer and kissed her.

Down at the front of the hall, the doors hissed open. Leia walked in, accompanied by a tall girl with chrome-braided hair. Leia’s cold, steel-gray eyes swept the tiered seating and locked onto Zaeryn sandwiched between Ingrid and Genevieve. Her expression didn’t change. There was no glare, no visible reaction.

She just turned away and took a seat two rows down.

Zaeryn was confused, leaning his head toward Ingrid. "Wait. I’m confused. What’s she doing here? If this is a senior class, and Genevieve isn’t even in it... what is Leia doing here?" freewebnσvel.cøm

"Leia is a senior so this is her class." Ingrid responded.

"If she’s a senior then why is she in my combat class?"

"She’s more of instructor Zelda’s assistant or demonstrator," Ingrid explained quietly, her eyes on the front. "She’s pretty much mastered all her skills, and that earned her a permanent spot helping out with the underclass blocks."

Before Zaeryn could process that, a short, dark-haired student marched up their aisle and stopped directly in front of Genevieve.

"Excuse me," the girl said, crossing her arms. "That’s my seat."

Genevieve didn’t even lift her head from Zaeryn’s shoulder. "Sit somewhere else."

"What do you mean sit somewhere else? You’re not even from this class," the girl said irritably, gesturing to Zaeryn too. "You too," although she smiled at him, unlike Genevieve, clearly not minding if he stayed.

"I don’t care," Genevieve replied smoothly. "Move."

"Claire, sit somewhere else," Ingrid said with an irritated look.

The girl huffed, shooting Genevieve a dirty look before trudging down the stairs and finding a seat somewhere else.

The main doors hummed open, and the ambient chatter died instantly.

A tall, elegant woman strode to the podium. She carried herself with effortless elegance, her silver-rimmed glasses catching the harsh light of the holo-projectors.

She placed her slate down, her eyes scanning the room.

They locked onto Zaeryn immediately.

Her lips curved into a bright, knowing smile. "Well. It seems we have a popular trespasser in the room today."

Zaeryn groaned internally, realizing he had overstayed here. He nudged Genevieve, and they both started to stand. "My apologies, Professor," Zaeryn said. "I didn’t hear the warning bell. We’ll leave."

"Sit back down," she instructed, waving a hand dismissively. "I am Professor Audrey. You’re the anomaly everyone is whispering about. Let’s see if your intellect is as disruptive as your biology. You may study here today. You too, Genevieve."

Zaeryn sank back into his chair. "Thank you."

"Don’t thank me yet," Professor Audrey said, pulling up a massive, complex schematic of a Vitae energy matrix. "This is an Advanced class. So pay attention."
