Chapter 10: Why Is My Starter Pack So Suspicious

What Maeve didn’t expect was for the fever to get so bad that she spent the entire night shivering under the blankets or the animal pelts? Oh, whatever.

She couldn’t even tell if she had truly fallen asleep or not because every time she closed her eyes, her head spun wildly, like she was trapped on a pirate ship ride that refused to stop.

At some point during the night, she remembered throwing up several times. After that, she vaguely felt the triplets taking turns placing crushed medicinal plants on her forehead and stomach.

She had no idea what kind of herbs they were using, but they definitely made her feel a little better.

"She was already sick from the start, so why did you bring her to our parents’ graveyard?"

Axan’s voice suddenly reached her ears from outside the hut. He sounded far away, but the irritation in his tone was impossible to miss. He was probably talking to Cerus right in front of the entrance.

He sounded upset and annoyed, a clear sign that he truly wasn’t happy with what Cerus had done.

"She said she was fine before we left," Cerus said lowly. "That’s why I brought her there. Besides... isn’t it normal to introduce our mate to our parents?"

"It’s not normal if you end up making her sick!" Axan snapped back. "The healers can’t cure people with Aether Energy anymore. We can only rely on medicinal plants now, and you know those are limited. What if we run out while our mate is dying?"

While they were arguing, Maeve blinked her eyes several times and finally realized that the sun had already risen into the sky again.

She let out a weak groan when she realized her skin felt sticky and uncomfortable, probably because of the herbal paste spread across her body or maybe because of the fever itself.

When she looked toward the floor—where she had thrown up earlier—it was already completely clean, and not only that, there wasn’t even the slightest bad smell left behind.

[The triplets cleaned it up, Host!] Pinky popped up in front of her, startling her a little.

[And congratulations! You have completed a side mission: Hug Your Future Mates to Build Affection!]

[Reward: Black Market Program Unlocked!]

[Additional rewards:

- Newbie Starter Pack

- 100 Coins

- 500 Bonus Coins (Newbie Edition)]

[Would you like to open the starter pack now, Host?]

Maeve blinked several times in confusion because she was absolutely sure she had never hugged Cerus before.

[You did, Host!] Pinky replied immediately.

[Actually, you hugged him several times last night! First when he carried you home, then again in the middle of the night, and once more when you wanted to throw up!]

Maeve instantly sat up straight. "I threw up on him?"

[You threw up all over his body, Host!]

Her face immediately burned with embarrassment.

She did what?! That was horrifying! ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

Who threw up on someone during a first date?!

Wait, she wasn’t even dating him in the first place!

[Why are you so embarrassed, Host?] Pinky asked innocently. [When you get pregnant later, you’ll probably throw up a lot too!]

’T-That’s not a good way to comfort me!’ she protested in her mind.

Instead of caring about her protest, Pinky floated around excitedly in front of her again. [So, Host, do you want to open your starter pack?]

Maeve clicked her tongue softly before mumbling, "Yeah, yeah, whatever."

[Ding! Ding! Ding!]

[Starter pack reward opened!]

A glowing panel immediately appeared in front of her, showing the items she had received.

[1x Energy Potion — Gives unlimited stamina for one day. (Recommended before mating)]

[1x Love Potion — Makes your body twice as sensitive. (Recommended before mating)]

[1x Golden Potion — Helps your body handle your mates’ proud pillars. (Recommended before mating)]

[150 Coins]

Maeve stared at the screen in complete disbelief.

What kind of starter pack was this?! This looked less like a beginner reward and more like preparation for a wedding night!

And what the hell was that Golden Potion supposed to be?!

Okay, technically Pinky had already explained it, but still! Maeve hadn’t even agreed to mate with those aliens yet!

[But Host... are you sure you don’t want to try mating with them?] Pinky asked. [I’m sure it would feel really good!]

"Then why don’t you try them yourself?!" Maeve accidentally shouted out loud.

Maeve’s sudden scream made Axan and Cerus immediately rush inside the hut. The door was pushed open so quickly that it almost slammed against the wall.

"What’s wrong?!" Cerus asked in panic. "Did someone sneak in here without permission?"

His golden eyes quickly scanned the entire hut, searching for the bastard who dared to disturb his wife while she was sick.

"Are you alright?" Axan asked, his voice much calmer but still filled with worry. frёeweɓηovel.coɱ

Meanwhile, Maeve instantly grabbed the blanket and pulled it all the way up to her chest. Her face burned red from embarrassment and panic at the same time.

"N-Nothing!" she blurted out. "There’s no one here! I was just talking to myself!"

The words came out so fast that she almost bit her own tongue. "Yes! Yes, I was only talking to myself!" she added awkwardly.

Cerus and Axan let out relieved sighs almost at the same time. They didn’t suspect that she was lying at all because in their minds, a Goddess would never lie to them.

And honestly... they already knew Maeve was a little weird sometimes.

"How’s your fever?" Axan asked softly as he walked closer to her.

Maeve’s entire body instantly tensed up, but she didn’t move away. She nervously closed her eyes when Axan slowly lifted his hand toward her.

A moment later, his palm rested gently against her forehead.

The moment he touched her, Maeve’s heart started beating wildly. It pounded so fast that she honestly thought it might burst out of her chest.

Why was she reacting like this just because he touched her forehead?! She must have been so touch-starved that her body gave in that easily!

But Axan’s hand felt incredibly warm, and his touch was surprisingly gentle. Even though he looked strong enough to crush someone with one hand—and could probably wrap his entire hand around her head without effort—he never made her feel threatened.

"It’s finally going down," Axan said with a sigh of relief. "But you still need to drink medicine. I think your body is still trying to adapt to this world."
