Chapter 417: Chapter 417: Open-handed
"Uncle Ma can be the factory director!" Tang Xiaonan exclaimed, clapping her hands.
"Yeah, I think you’d be a great fit for factory director, Aston. Why not have the higher-ups appoint you?" Goldie Thorne said with a smile.
Aston Marsh waved his hands repeatedly. "No way, I can’t do it. What do I know about management? I’m fine with procurement, but I don’t have the skills to run a factory. No, no, absolutely not."
Adrian Hawthorne smiled but didn’t join the conversation. He had already given them the idea; the actual execution had nothing to do with him. His friendship with Aston Marsh wasn’t that deep yet. He had only offered the suggestion to repay Aston for the favor of introducing him to Feng Ye.
Goldie Thorne and Aston Marsh joked around for a bit. Outside, the sky grew darker. Aston smiled and said, "Let’s go get something to eat. We’ve got nothing else on tonight, so let’s have a few drinks, just the two of us."
"Sounds good!"
Goldie Thorne’s spirits lifted. He and Aston Marsh had really hit it off, as if they were old friends who had known each other for years. However, when Goldie’s eyes drifted to the goods on the floor, he hesitated. "I think I’ll stay behind. I need to watch the merchandise."
It was two thousand yuan’s worth, which was no small sum. He was, after all, the only adult in their group. The weight on his shoulders was heavy, and Goldie Thorne didn’t dare let his guard down.
Aston Marsh glanced at the floor and asked with interest, "What kind of stuff did you guys get? Can I take a look?"
Goldie Thorne turned to look at Adrian Hawthorne. The merchandise wasn’t his, so it wasn’t his place to say.
"Of course you can. If it weren’t for Uncle Ma’s help with the introduction, we never would have had the chance to meet Feng Ye."
Adrian Hawthorne agreed without a moment’s hesitation and even untied one of the bags, revealing bright, brand-new fabric. Aston Marsh’s eyes lit up. He bent down, ran a hand over the cloth, and couldn’t help but nod. "This material is really nice. Did you get all this from Feng Ye? Is this all you got?"
Aston Marsh was a little puzzled. Feng Ye never bothered with small deals; he only sold in large quantities. The amount of goods Adrian Hawthorne had was far too small. ’Feng Ye actually agreed to this?’
"This is everything. There are also some radios." Adrian Hawthorne took out a radio, switched it on, and tuned the dial. Moments later, music filled the room.
Aston Marsh took it to fiddle with. He tuned to a few different channels, and the signal was excellent on all of them, no worse than the big-name brands sold in department stores.
"How much are you selling this for?"
Aston Marsh wanted to buy one for his father-in-law. A few days ago, he had just bought one for his own father. Besides using an industrial coupon, it had cost him seventy-eight yuan. His dad had been over the moon, carrying the radio with him wherever he went and telling everyone he met that it was a gift from his filial son.
But his father-in-law wasn’t too pleased. Although he didn’t say anything outright, he had grumbled to Aston’s wife about it a few times behind his back. His wife had her own opinions too, saying he was being unfair. Aston had grown tired of all the nagging and was planning to buy another one here anyway. As luck would have it, Adrian Hawthorne had them on hand.
"It’s not for sale. I was planning to give it to you anyway. If you don’t mind, please take it."
Adrian Hawthorne generously shoved the radio into Aston Marsh’s hands without so much as blinking. Aston was stunned, deeply shocked. He never imagined Adrian Hawthorne could be so generous, giving away a radio just like that. Even if it was cheaper from Feng Ye, it must have still cost several dozen yuan. ’This kid is incredible. He’s destined for great things.’
"I can’t accept this. Even brothers settle their accounts clearly. Just tell me how much it is." Aston Marsh had no intention of taking advantage of a kid. He could certainly afford a few dozen yuan.
"Really, there’s no need. If it wasn’t for your help this time, Uncle Ma, my procurement wouldn’t have gone so smoothly. You must accept it."
Goldie Thorne also chimed in to persuade him. Left with no choice, Aston Marsh accepted it, looking a little embarrassed. However, he didn’t ask any more questions. He knew the rules.
