Chapter 479: Chapter 479: Didn’t You Know He’s Married?

"This child might be too sensible." Yi Roujing thought that since Wowo could accurately respond to their meanings with gestures like waving and nodding, it meant there was no issue with her intelligence. However, her being so well-behaved with strangers might indicate she understood her situation, a sensibility that was heart-wrenching.

"It’s fine, after spending more time with Dumplings and Tangyuan, she’ll regain her child’s nature." Li Hongying comforted, thinking as well, "She can sleep with me these days; Roujing, you should go back to your room and rest."

Yi Roujing nodded; Wowo’s hair was also nearly dry.

"What time is the train back tomorrow? I was thinking of taking Wowo to the provincial hospital to check her throat; otherwise, why hasn’t she started speaking?" After returning to the room, Yi Roujing said to Xu Ancheng.

"Mom, is that little girl called Wowo?"

"It’s a new nickname I came up with, isn’t it nice?" Yi Roujing asked with a smile.

"Yes, it sounds nicer than our nicknames." Baozi stated his opinion very candidly.

This made Yi Roujing feel a bit embarrassed since she had also chosen her son’s nickname, and because he was the oldest, Mantou and the others had their nicknames follow this food-related pattern.

"But I still like my nickname best." Baozi said very seriously, "Even when I grow up, I can still go by it. Unlike others with names like Gouwa or Goudan, which don’t sound nice."

Yi Roujing tousled Baozi for a while and gave him several affectionate kisses, "Wowo will live with us from now on, do you think that’s okay?"

"I don’t mind." Baozi wasn’t bothered at all, "In the future, if Dad and Mom have more brothers or sisters for me, I don’t mind how many; I’ll look after them."

What a wonderful child, Yi Roujing showered Baozi with affection while Xu Ancheng, watching from the side, felt warmth rise up in his heart.

"When we get back home, you should stay in the same room with Grandpa and Grandma." Xu Ancheng immediately voiced his request.

Such an obvious intention, Yi Roujing glanced at Xu Ancheng, wondering what he was thinking.

Baozi looked back and forth between his dear dad and mom, thought for a moment, then nodded in agreement, "Okay, go for it."

What the...?

"Good boy." Xu Ancheng picked up his son and began showering him with kisses, while still not forgetting to answer Yi Roujing’s question, "Let’s have lunch first tomorrow and then return. We’ll take Wowo to the provincial hospital in the morning."

Early the next morning, Yi Roujing was woken up by the low voice of Xu Ancheng, a ticklish sensation as if a feather brushed across her face, occasionally mixed with some warm touches. When she opened her eyes, she saw Xu Ancheng holding her hair and lightly picking at her nose and cheek, while his rosy lips occasionally pressed against her face.

"Awake? I thought I could sneak a few more kisses." Xu Ancheng’s hoarse voice exploded by Yi Roujing’s ear, "I missed you so much since I’ve been away on business for so long."

Yi Roujing felt touched by these words. Ever since Xu Ancheng took an unpaid leave, he had been away frequently; they had only seen each other twice in over a month.

Yi Roujing reached up to encircle Xu Ancheng’s neck, pouting her soft pink lips to peck his like a dragonfly skimming water. Just when Xu Ancheng tried to deepen the kiss, she pushed him away, "I haven’t brushed my teeth yet."

"Don’t worry, it still smells great." Xu Ancheng’s voice was husky as he kissed her until she almost couldn’t breathe before pulling away, "I’ll go out and cool down, you get dressed."

Yi Roujing chuckled softly, then as she got up, she saw Baozi sleeping soundly on the other bed, his cheeks rosy and peaceful. She glanced at the time; it was a quarter past seven.

Xu Ancheng had already fetched hot water for her, thoughtfully mixed with some cold water. Yi Roujing freshened up quickly, and when she opened the door to leave, Li Hongying from the next room just happened to come out too.

"Mom, is Wowo awake?" Yi Roujing asked.

"Yes, I woke her up." Li Hongying, having been informed by Xu Ancheng last night of their need to visit the hospital early today, already had Wowo prepared, "You two go ahead, I’ll watch Baozi."

Li Hongying handed Wowo over to Xu Ancheng and entered the room Yi Roujing and Xu Ancheng were staying in.

Wowo nestled in Xu Ancheng’s arms a bit stiffly; she was the most unfamiliar with him. Still, despite her stiffness, she remained obediently still.

"We’re taking you to the hospital to have your throat checked, but first we’ll have breakfast, so there’s no need to be nervous." Although Xu Ancheng didn’t have a daughter, he had experience with Tangyuan, so he spoke in a somewhat gentle voice.

Upon hearing this, Wowo nodded, but her little head lowered.

"Don’t be afraid. It’s not uncommon for children to speak late. We’ll just have the doctor take a look." Yi Roujing walked over, ruffled Wowo’s hair, and smiled to comfort her.

The moment she heard Yi Roujing’s encouragement and felt her warmth, Wowo immediately lifted her head, beaming a radiant smile at Yi Roujing.

The three of them walked to a nearby state-run restaurant for breakfast, ordering soymilk, fried dough sticks, eggs, and Mantou. By the time they finished eating, it was a quarter to eight, just in time to reach the hospital by eight.

Yi Roujing held Wowo while Xu Ancheng went to register.

The queue was quite long. Yi Roujing waited with Wowo by the wall for quite some time before she turned her head to the right, having felt a gaze on her for a while.

Facing the source, Yi Roujing noticed it was a stranger, seemingly around her age, wearing a military-green long coat, with a red scarf wrapped around the neck, topped by a black beret, and on her feet were a pair of long leather boots, a fashionable outfit ahead of the trend.

The person wore it well, with a good appearance and figure, featuring delicate features and bright lipstick on her lips, standing around 1.68 meters tall, not bad at all.

However, after taking a look, Yi Roujing retracted her gaze. No matter how pretty, she had confidence, still considering herself more attractive, even in her unflattering cotton-padded jacket.

"Don’t you know that gentleman is married?" When the fashionable woman approached and addressed Yi Roujing in a very serious tone, Yi Roujing was a bit surprised.

"Are you asking me?" Yi Roujing responded with a question.

"Yes." The fashionable woman’s expression seemed somewhat displeased.

"We don’t know each other, do we?" Yi Roujing found the situation a bit amusing.

"My family does business with Mr. Xu, and we just finalized a deal." The fashionable woman directly stated her point, "My father originally thought of celebrating the occasion, but only then found out Mr. Xu is married and has a son."

"I thought Mr. Xu was someone steadfast in marriage, but it turns out he too is so shallow, even having a daughter with a woman outside." The fashionable woman had a deep look of disappointment on her face.

Having understood, Yi Roujing immediately explained, "You’re mistaken. I am Xu Ancheng’s lawful wife. We do have a son, but the one we’re taking to see the doctor today isn’t our son."

"I see." The fashionable woman was momentarily stunned by Yi Roujing’s explanation, then seemed a bit embarrassed, but her outspoken nature left a good impression on Yi Roujing.
