Chapter 60: Chapter 60: Blood Moon Wolf Den

The Blood Moon Wolves came through the trees like red shadows.

They were larger than ordinary wolves, with dark fur streaked by crimson lines. Their eyes glowed under the blood moon, and their claws left red marks on the soil. Unlike the Fog Bone creatures or Silent Lake beasts, they did not hide their killing intent.

They charged openly.

Violently.

Hungrily.

[Blood Moon Wolf]

[Level: 14]

[Type: Blood-moon beast]

[Traits: High aggression, pain resistance, pack coordination]

[Weakness: throat, heart, moon-core behind ribs]

"Formation," Qin Yuheng said.

Qin Yuchen moved to his right. freēwēbnovel.com

Qin Lian vanished left.

Qin Mo placed two quick formation markers behind them, creating a fallback line.

The first wolf leaped.

Qin Yuheng met it head-on.

His sword cut across its throat, but the wolf did not die immediately. Blood Moon energy kept it moving even as blood poured from the wound. It tried to bite his arm.

Qin Yuheng’s eyes sharpened.

Pain resistance was real.

He drove thunder through the blade and severed the moon-core behind its ribs.

The wolf collapsed.

"Destroy the core," he said. "Throat wounds are not enough."

Qin Yuchen adjusted immediately. His sword thrusts shifted from neck and joints to rib gaps. Qin Lian’s daggers targeted the glowing red points beneath the wolves’ bodies. Qin Mo used small flash formations to break charge rhythm.

The first pack had nine wolves.

They fought fiercely.

One wolf took Qin Yuchen’s blade through the shoulder and still slammed into him. A Defensive Talisman flashed, absorbing the impact. Qin Lian killed it from behind.

Another wolf rushed Qin Mo. He threw wolf-repellent powder, causing it to hesitate, then activated a formation needle that pinned one paw to the ground long enough for Qin Yuheng to finish it.

After the battle, the mission updated.

[Blood Moon Wolves defeated: 9 / 30]

[Blood Moon Cores collected: 4 / 10]

[Blood Moon Corruption: 3%]

Qin Mo frowned.

"Corruption increased even though we won."

Qin Yuheng looked at the crimson moon.

"The environment itself affects us. Longer exposure means higher corruption."

Qin Yuchen said, "Then speed matters."

"Yes. But rushing into nests is dangerous."

Qin Lian inspected tracks.

"First nest should be east. Many wolves came from that direction."

They moved quickly.

The Blood Moon forest was oppressive. Red light filtered through black leaves. The air smelled of iron and wild grass. Every howl seemed to tug at emotions, encouraging anger and impatience.

Qin Yuheng felt it too.

The blood moon whispered in the body, not the mind.

Fight.

Kill.

Chase.

Dominate.

The Primordial Thunder Emperor Body resisted, but his blood still heated.

He used Clear Blood Stabilizing Pills and distributed them to the team.

The pill reduced the corruption gain.

[Blood Moon Corruption stabilized.]

After an hour, they found the first nest.

It was built beneath a twisted tree, surrounded by bones and red grass. Six wolves guarded it, and inside the nest pulsed a fleshy crimson crystal.

[Blood Moon Wolf Nest]

[Destroy core to complete mission progress.]

Qin Yuheng did not charge.

They lured three wolves away first, killed them quietly, then attacked the remaining guards. Qin Mo used anti-berserk talismans to weaken the nest aura. Qin Yuchen and Qin Lian held the wolves while Qin Yuheng destroyed the nest core with thunder.

The core exploded in red mist.

[Blood Moon Wolf Nest destroyed: 1 / 3]

[Blood Moon Corruption reduced by 2%.]

Qin Mo looked relieved.

"Destroying nests lowers corruption. Good."

They collected several drops.

[Blood Moon Core x3]

[Blood Grass x5]

[Crimson Wolf Fang x2]

The Blood Grass interested Qin Yuheng.

[D Grade Blood Grass]

[Effect: Low-grade blood vitality material. Risk of mild aggression if consumed raw.]

[Eligible for Evolution.]

Potential family resource, but dangerous if not purified.

He stored it.

The second nest was harder.

It lay near a rocky slope where multiple packs crossed paths. By the time they arrived, another team had already engaged the wolves.

Not Zhao Tianyu’s team.

Wei Chen’s team.

Wei Chen stood at the front, shield raised, holding back a larger Blood Moon Wolf with a scarred face. His teammates were under pressure from two directions.

Qin Yuheng assessed quickly.

If they waited, Wei Chen’s team might destroy the nest but suffer injuries.

If they helped, they would split reward contribution but gain alliance value.

Wei Chen had cooperated fairly multiple times.

Qin Yuheng chose.

"We assist."

Qin Mo looked surprised but did not object.

Qin Yuheng entered the battlefield with Thunder Shadow Flash, cutting down a wolf attacking Wei Chen’s healer. Qin Yuchen supported the left flank. Qin Lian eliminated an injured wolf near the nest. Qin Mo placed a stabilizing formation that reduced Blood Moon aura in a small area.

Wei Chen saw them and shouted, "Qin Yuheng!"

"Destroy the nest together!"

"Agreed!"

The scarred wolf was a Level 16 elite.

[Blood Moon Scar Wolf]

[Level: 16]

[Elite]

It fought with terrifying endurance. Wei Chen blocked its frontal attacks while Qin Yuheng struck its core points from the side. After several exchanges, Qin Yuheng used thunder to crack its rib guard, and Wei Chen smashed it backward with his shield.

Qin Lian finished it by piercing the exposed moon-core.

The second nest fell soon after.

[Blood Moon Wolf Nest destroyed: 2 / 3]

Contribution was shared, but both teams gained.

Wei Chen clasped Qin Yuheng’s forearm briefly.

"Debt remembered."

Qin Yuheng nodded.

"Survive first. Settle debts later."

They separated.

The third nest was deeper.

By then, corruption had risen again.

[Blood Moon Corruption: 18%]

Still manageable.

But the howls were changing.

They were becoming more organized.

Qin Lian returned from scouting with a serious expression.

"The third nest is not alone. There is a larger den behind it."

Qin Yuheng looked at her.

"Boss?"

"Likely."

The mission did not require killing the boss.

Only destroying three nests.

But Floor 5’s high evaluation likely depended on the den boss.

Qin Mo saw Qin Yuheng’s expression.

"No."

Qin Yuheng smiled faintly.

"We destroy the third nest first."

"And then?"

"Then we judge."

Qin Mo looked at Qin Yuchen.

"Tell him judging sometimes means leaving."

Qin Yuchen said calmly, "It does."

Qin Mo relaxed slightly.

Then Qin Yuchen added, "But not always."

Qin Mo closed his eyes.

The third nest waited beneath the blood moon.

And behind it, in the darkness of the den, something larger howled.
