Chapter 37: Seal
Moon’s mind entered a full meltdown phase. Everything was going wrong.
His entire life had the worth of 3 days of rest. Only 3 days he spent sleeping, unbothered with anything... nothing stressing him.
But Ed had come to mess with him and stress him further, and there were only a few days left before this place became littered with ascenders from rich families...
Soon he would have no place to stay, hide... No where to keep himself and his miserable situation hidden.
He only wanted to hide his past, to live as a free man at last. Yet, that seemed too much all of sudden.
Would they lock him in this room for the rest of his life... No, they would probably kick him out once the educational period was over.
How long would it take him to retract this?
Where would he hide till that happens?
Would he get exposed the moment anyone activates their Echo near him?
Would Rowa come after him again?
Would Samuel defend him again?
Was Rowa just an individual or part of a group looking for undead to kill?
His mind raced without an end, he even wished he would get imprisoned instead of outright killed.
Even getting imprisoned was a luxury in his situation.
After cursing for a long time, he suddenly stopped.
Sigh~
Unknowingly, a sigh escaped his lips.
Gradually, he felt the agitation and panic slowly withdraw... It was not the worst he had ever faced.
Yet, everything felt like his progress was forcefully reset back to nothing.
Still, once he was calmed...
’This guy is messing with me. He wouldn’t have come here to banter.’ His resilient mind once again forced him to calmly assess the situation with a cool, logical view.
It took Moon a a long moment, but he was finally calm again.
Ed, who was watching closely, poked Samuel with his elbow. "See, told ya." He commented.
Moon didn’t bother to ask what they were talking about. He simply asked, "Since you came here, you must have a way to either seal it or seal my Echo entirely."
Nodding, "Right, right..." Ed smiled in obvious satisfaction.
He looked at Samuel. "He... he... hehehehe..." he suddenly started laughing, poking him with his elbow.
Samuel looked back at him. His gaze changed for a second, but he still didn’t join the laughter.
Moon, who was finally keeping it together, felt his eyes sting looking at Ed. His laugh gave him a toothache.
"Listen, kid," Ed announced, "in this world, there isn’t a thing I cannot split."
Unable to understand the significance of these words, he simple nodded ’Yeah right, you cool as fuck... not that I care?’ Moon thought, his eyes didn’t look impressed in the slightest.
Yet, when his eyes met Ed’s, he realized that the older man was demanding him to ask.
Too tired to entertain him, Moon asked "So?" He words came out more dismissively than intended.
"So?" Ed raised a brow. "This kid is no fun all of a sudden." He crossed his arms.
His gaze shifted back to Samuel. "Did you teach him your edgy shit?" He questioned.
Samuel didn’t meet his gaze, nor did he look interested in answering.
Moon’s eyes went back and forth, only to find Ed turning around.
"Alright then, you can play whatever game you’re playing..." he said before walking in the direction of the exit, leaving the two of them behind.
He waved his hand high, "You just missed your chance of receiving help from the Sky Splitting Edmond, you brat." He said before disappearing behind the entrance.
Moon looked at Samuel. "What just happened?" He asked, but Samuel wasn’t going to explain anything.
’Does he need to constantly mess with people to stay in a good mood?’ he asked himself.
He turned his attention back to Samuel. "Can this mess be sealed?" He asked again the question Ed didn’t answer.
Samuel didn’t answer, he released exhaled slowly. Instead, he extended his hand toward Moon’s center chest.
The hand moved rather slowly, but Moon didn’t think he could escape even if he wanted to. Not evade, nor do anything but watch...
The hand that seemingly had frozen him in place without the slightest way out.
The hand landed on his centrum, covering it completely, or rather, covering his T-shirt and pressing his chest, pinning him against the wall he was leaning on.
Samuel suddenly spoke, "To establish a long-term seal, this will be painful. Bear with me," he warned before proceeding, but Moon was still caught off guard.
He still wanted to seal it, so he just submitted himself to fate.
Still, without a warning, pain erupted like a knife stabbing into his heart, and this knife didn’t seem to end. It was piercing without end, without pause. freewebnovel.cσ๓
His gentle features and the calmness of his face instantly vanished, replaced by a contorted, agonized expression.
It was a pain that was different from anything he had ever felt before. An entirely new kind of pain that never knew or experienced before after countless deaths..
It was the kind of pain that didn’t hurt only the body, but also something intangible cutting into his being.
His Echo ran and flowed aggressively like a tidal wave toward where Samuel’s hand was pressing, gathering at a rapid speed, leaving nothing behind. freewёbnoνel.com
Though, it still tried to fight back like a cornered animal, it tried to block what was assaulting and threatening it.
One wave after another, it gathered beneath Samuel’s hand.
The process kept repeating until every trace of Echo his body had at all was now behind that hand.
Hidden, unseen, but for Moon, it felt like sewing.
The Echo was being compressed and stitched under his centrum...
What made this sensation even more vivid was that...
At this moment, the pain Moon felt reversed, like a blade being pulled out of his chest. But the accumulating pain was not stopping... it was increasing.
Sweat was pouring off Moon’s forehead for what felt like an eternity. He had bitten his tongue while thrashing under Samuel’s hand pressing him against the wall.
Blood flowed out of his mouth.
His screams never ceased, yet he never moved, or rather... Samuel fixed him in place so perfectly not allowing him to move.
Samuel was completely focused on finishing this. His eyes never moved, never wavered or lost focus, nor did he let the screams hinder him in any way possible.
He didn’t offer a word of comfort or encouragement.
He was absolutely focused on sealing everything properly and as fast as possible.
And surprisingly, it ended... just as abruptly as it started.
"It took around 10 seconds. Far longer than expected," Samuel said to himself.
Moon, who had just been released from under this monstrous hand, found his body shaking.
His body involuntarily slid down. His head hit the floor softly.
It was sealed. And it was finished in 10 seconds... he couldn’t believe it... for this was just an eternity-long agony...
But that didn’t matter...
He tried to speak with difficulty through the blood pooling in his throat.
A few bloody coughs came first before—
"Ha... ha... sealed... at last..." He managed to force out a weak laugh of relief.
With these words, he finally relaxed...
And now he allowed his consciousness to slip, falling into well-earned rest.
