Chapter 26: Concealed
They walked toward the entrance labeled with [Hall 1].
"This is the place where—" Inside, "Hmmm?" It was pitch black, indiscernible by all means.
"Guess Teacher Samuel is not back yet. Wait a minute."
He looked around in the darkness, "Oh here it is!"
He raised his right hand with an item that looked flat and squarish like a piece of paper. A circle within the hall resonated. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
Before another, one by one.
In the darkness, hums echoed in welcome, responding to the flat object. One after another, lights started turning on, giving the vast place light.
’What sorcery is this?’ Moon, who had never seen anything like this, was both amazed and stunned.
It was on an entirely different scale compared to the shower.
"Right, little Moon, can you use arcane arts or do any Echo-Infused combat arts?" Uon asked curiously.
’What the hell are Echo-Infused arts?’ Moon wondered.
His only relevance to the word was the value in his status window, he has some of the so called Echo, but has never gotten to figure out what it was.
He didn’t linger for long, ’It’s probably something that didn’t exist on the first floor.’ He concluded.
Shaking his head, "Nope, I only know how to use my body," he answered truthfully.
"That’s fine too, considering you came from the first floor. I’ve also seen a few people who are still all in for a strong body." He spoke, flexing his arms the same way Moon did in the bathroom.
Unable to hold his smile, "Yeah, I guess such people are there everywhere," thinking of the warrior in the Memory Fragment... he believed he was also the same.
"I can still teach you a few things about echo control," he paused before adding, "Actually, I’m a member of the Arcane Society, and here I teach arcane arts."
Moon’s tired mind painted an image of the Arcane Society he was hearing of for the first time, and it looked like many people, all tall, all with bright yellow hair, round eyes, and smiling...
He rubbed his eyes. It was too frightening a thought.
"Yeah, let’s do that after getting some rest," Moon accepted the invitation.
Now, turning his attention to the hall that was fully lit, he was for a moment left speechless.
Not only was it as huge as he expected, but everything inside was beyond his ability to identify. One side had water going upwards inside another circle. Another had a scorched aim target, but it the scorch mark was regressing slowly, only to be shot again by something that would scorch it.
He tried to find the source but it seemed to be coming randomly from the wall on the other side.
That shot didn’t produce any light and was completely invisible.
’Is there anything that burns other than fire?’ Moon thought.
He refused to voice any of his questions again. He was spent and felt weak.
Too weak that he could as well pass out where he stood. He would have done that if he was still a slave, but coping with his newfound freedom, and the excitement to sleep in his own room, kept him standing.
There were also many things he needed to check about these status windows that he dismissed and never had a chance to check again.
"Little Moon, this way," Uon called. Moon followed.
A corridor on the right. It led upstairs. On their way, they found one chamber. Uon pointed. "This is Teacher Samuel’s room."
They kept going upstairs, where two chambers were facing one another at the end of the flight of stairs. "This is mine." He pointed at one of the two rooms, the one on the left side of the stairs.
"And this?" Moon asked back, pointing his finger with the last of his wakefulness at the right door.
"Yes, this is yours," Uon ascertained before walking to the door that didn’t have any knobs. He extended his finger and pressed the center.
The door opened smoothly without a single creak.
Uon waved at Moon. "Let’s talk again tomorrow. Good night," before getting into his room.
"Good night," Moon waved back, going inside the room at last.
He matched what Uon did and pressed the center of the door again, but this time from the inside.
The door closed itself right away.
"Neat," his eyes gleamed.
Inside the room, a bed was there, clean. Pillows were arranged on it. There was even a balcony.
"So big" Moon couldn’t contain his excitment.
On the other side, a desk was there, along with a chair.
To the right of the desk, a wardrobe stood. And what amazed him most was, there was a restroom, a small one inside the room.
But there was a problem.
A problem pressing his mind for a while now.
He glanced to the left, and a crimson status window appeared. He had ignored all his stats before, and ignored them once again now.
He looked at two things. freewebnoveℓ.com
First.
Death Energy.
And second.
He took off his shoe carefully and brought it close to the window.
[Can hide death energy]
"Fuck my damn life, do I have to live without changing my clothes or take a shower for as long as I live?"
He knew. He already knew what that crazy teacher was sniffing.
This death echo or energy, whichever it was, was not normal.
The way the blue window reacted to it was already unsettling, but to be hunted for it...
"Damn it."
Now he wasn’t even sure if he should take off his shoe and sock while sleeping.
He wasn’t sure if the blue window gave an alert during his shower. He could have missed it considering the state he was in.
He looked into it.
Fate Alert
30%
He thought about it, the unchanging number, but something came to his mind.
"Wait a minute!"
