The sudden drop eluded Moon. He didn’t bother looking at the blue status window, but—
"Huh?"
An exclamation came, but...
It wasn’t Moon.
It was Rowa!
"Teacher Sam—" Eyes full of fear, she looked ahead like a cornered rat all of a sudden.
But the very hand holding Moon’s neck was also being held by Teacher Samuel.
Crack~
The sound of snapping bones echoed loudly inside the bathroom, along with her sharp screams.
Thud~
Moon fell to the ground, still holding Liquid Mountain, but his mind seemed to have failed to grasp the situation entirely.
He looked at Samuel, then at Rowa again.
’Weren’t they part of the same group?’
’Why did he defend me?’
"Rowa," Teacher Samuel spoke slowly, his tone calm and controlled.
"Teacher, I-I-I didn’t—" she stuttered.
"Shhh, I don’t want to know," He cut her off before adding, "You came here uninvited, laid your hands on one of my students, as a teacher... You understand how this place, this facility works."
He retracted his arm, clasping both hands behind his back. "I taught you here as well."
"Teacher, please..." her voice shivered under his gaze.
"This is my branch. I let you play around. Don’t overstep your boundaries..." His tone was firm and heavy.
"I might crush your head next time. Who knows? I still treat you like a student for the old days’ sake.
"This is my branch. Never set foot here again. As for that mutt who let you out, I’ll have a good talk with him."
"Yes," she replied weakly.
But when she gazed at his feet, the old man had already left, not waiting for her to respond.
"Teacher Samuel is awesome." Uon’s eyes held fanatic reverence. Moon, on the other hand, was conflicted.
So many things didn’t add up, nor could he make sense of them clearly.
He started walking out, leaving Rowa to hold her broken arm, completely unbothered by her problems.
But on a second thought, he took one last glance at her...
He wanted to confirm something, before walking away, shifting back his focus to Uon.
"Big brother Uon, let’s get this late as hell dinner already, I might as well start chewing on my leather scabbard" he rushed Uon out of his fantasy, who was still punching the air and such.
Getting him to run out after him. "Right, you must be very hungry," Uon affirmed.
Growwwwl
Patting his belly, "you bet?" Moon smirked.
Yet, his mind was racing.
Everything Samuel said was a valuable piece of information, yet it didn’t make sense.
Like touching students, treating her like a student...
This was cryptic in many ways that Moon wondered—
Does that mean no matter what students did, teachers can’t interfere?
Does it mean that students can kill each other inside the facility?
Then—
What about assistants?
Uon... He’s significantly weaker than Rowa, but looking at him, studying him closely... that guy was anything but weak.
Or that was the level of threat Moon felt from him. He was strong... but not on Teacher’s level.
Do the rules Teacher Samuel spoke of apply to him as well, or not?
Does walking around with him like this make things bad, or better...
While in deep thought, he saw something in the distance, like a paper hung on the walls.
"Um, big brother, what’s that?" he asked Uon, pointing his finger at the distant note.
Following where the finger pointed, "Oh, that... it’s a wanted poster," he spoke dismissively.
"Wanted poster?" Moon questioned. He started deviating from his way and walking toward the poster curiously.
It was an image of a man. His hair was white, his smile was wide, but—
His eyes had a system message covering them. On the message, the word [Intruder] was written.
"This is weird." Moon studied the message, since the features were hidden behind it, "Who is that guy?" He, till now, believed that system messages were personal, just like something only in his head.
It was common sense that he received along with the window, something he couldn’t understand nor question, like a rule written into the reality of the world, like breathing, like thirst, like hunger.
But now, this guy stood there in the poster, with clearly a system message over his face saying that he was an intruder.
Intruder of what?
What exactly did he intrude?
Sigh...
Uon’s voice came along with a sigh, "This guy is old news. You are young. It was over a decade ago that he broke into the Tower."
"Like gate-spawn creatures?" Moon asked back, trying to understand where the problem was, for that was a natural occurrence.
Why was that guy different?
"No, he broke in without a gate, and he fought a few of the strongest in the Tower... but they were beaten like grandsons," Uon reluctantly explained. ƒreewebɳovel.com
"Oh, so strong?" Moon’s eyes shone, "Stronger than Teacher Samuel?"
"He is strong, no question, but he also didn’t kill anyone, and after wrecking a few places, he disappeared again..." Uon ascertained, before taking a moment to think. "I would rather not compare Teacher Sameul to this guy."
’Look at you refusing to admit it... would he get beat by Teacher Samuel if he did?’ Moon thought, amused.
"So, they’re looking for him for a rematch?" Moon confirmed.
"In a way," Uon nodded.
"Where’s the reward though?" Moon questioned, there wasn’t any money listed there.
Uon shook his head "I never thought about it." he said dismissively.
Then he added, "Let’s go eat already. It’s getting late, and I have to work in the morning."
"Oh, right... sorry."
’Why does he feel like he was enslaved by the facility all of a sudden?’ He questioned Uon in his head.
