Chapter 43: R.K.O & Siege Rewards

[R.K.O out of nowhere.]

Rollie chimed in, trying her best to be an Announcer, while William grabbed the lizard’s thick neck in a reverse hold over his shoulder. Yes, he was about to land an R.K.O., the one he said after the first tower core upgrade. But let’s be real, a plain R.K.O. wasn’t going to kill this scaled bastard, so William improvised.

With his grip locked, William pushed his lower hand upward, twisting the brute’s neck hard to the left. That’s all it took. He dropped his full weight; a sharp pop, then a sickening crack came from the brute’s neck as he hit the floor face first, and just like that, Croc went limp.

William got up, dusting off his clothes, and strolled toward Christian, who stared at the ground with blank eyes. The guy was hell of a traumatized after watching his troop get wiped out like that. William could tell he hadn’t fought in either trial; he probably hid behind his troops or remained on the lord’s floor.

Not everyone keeps up when things go to hell; it’s only been a week since this shit started. Some people have snapped already; a lot more will, sooner or later. As for Christian? He would have been drowning since the beginning, like Julia, even though she had B- Rank troops.

He must have clung to Sara’s faction, thinking it would make things easy having an S Rank label with his name. He knew he would have to follow her orders, but he didn’t know it’d lead to his end this fast.

Right now, Christian just kept mumbling ’I don’t want to die’ in a broken, terrified loop. As William closed in, he pulled a mana rifle from his inventory. He was going to one-shot him out of his misery.

Hearing footsteps approaching, Christian turned to face William. Tears streamed down his beard, his nose leaking into his unkempt mustache. The guy looked like a disaster—broken, pitiful, and absolutely wrecked.

The second he saw the rifle in William’s hands, Christian started groveling. "P-Pl-please d-don’t k-kill me, m-man! W-We... we a-all h-humans, r-right? We a-all c-came fr-from the s-same bl-ock! Y-You d-don’t g-gotta d-do th-this! M-Make m-me cons-te-lation-n... I...I w-was al-so ’b-out to d-do th-e sam-me. I’ll s-stay on the l-lower fl-oors, f-for r-real! I-I’ll d-do wh-ate_ver y-you s-say, j-just d-don’t k-kill m-me!"

William kept his face blank. Yeah, he felt like shit. He’d killed monsters before, but killing a human was first for him, and now, doing so, something nasty stirred inside him. In this shithole, having pity could be worse than getting gang banged by goblins. Softness like that? It gets you to the grave, fast.

Even if he wanted to make Christian a constellation, he’d just be deadweight. Besides, William had already reserved that spot for his first harem member. So, hell no.

William lifted the rifle, leveled it at Christian’s face. Christian opened his mouth to sputter something, but William squeezed the trigger first. "No hard feelings."

BANG.

The mana bullet slammed into his face with a wet bang, blowing his head apart; blood, brains, and bone fragments splattered everywhere. His headless body crumpled to the floor. Just like that, the siege was over. The tower system came in with its notifications.

[Congratulations on winning the tower siege against Challenger Christian Wenz.]

[A 2-day protection period will begin tomorrow.]

[As the Challengee, 70% of all Challenger resources and monster loot are being transferred to the lord’s inventory.]

[Tier One tower core is being transferred into the lord’s inventory.]

William grinned at the notifications, not because of the win or the loot. Nope, it was what came next that made him want to punch the air.

[For being among the first million lords to compete in the tower game, you have been awarded a 20% discount tower merchant coupon.]

[Coupon has been transferred to the lord’s inventory.]

Using this to Screw over that greedy bunny would feel hell’a good, even if 20% wasn’t much. This early in the trials, there weren’t gonna be any fat purchases. But still, with all the stuff he needed to buy, it could squeeze out a few more things at the end. freewebnσvel.cѳm

The moment the tower system started sending notifications, all the beasts and the Christian corpse began vanishing, just like climbers after the trial ends.

William stared at the spotless floor. No bodies, no blood, no gore. "At least the tower’s cleaning service is top-notch. Otherwise, scrubbing this mess would be a bigger pain in the ass than killing them. And this time, shit was extra bloody."

William closed the notifications and eyed his troops. There were no injuries this time, but using skills back-to-back still drained them, and he was also feeling a bit strained, especially after using Antelope’s traits; those really messed with his head. So, he headed back to the lord’s floor with his squad.

After reaching, all the troops drifted off to their spots to crash. William told Seabas he could bunk in his hut until he bought him one, but Seabas just shrugged and said he wasn’t that tired and was fine outside. William didn’t push it. He just headed for his own hut, desperate for something soft under his head to squeeze the fatigue out.

First, he took a quick shower and then flopped onto his bed. Before he could pass out, there were still rewards left to check, so he opened his panel and went straight to TP to see how much he’d raked in from the deceased bee lord.

After the gacha spree and getting TP from Gnoblin claws later that day, he had 1209 TP in his reserves for shopping. He wasn’t expecting much from that trash lord, but still, he had cleared two trials; it should at least hit triple digits, right?

But when he saw the new total, his eyes nearly popped out. "Where the fuck is his TP?"

The number was still 1209TP. Not a single TP came from that bastard. There could be only two reasons: either that fucker transferred his TP to someone else before the challenge, or the tower system glitched, which was unlikely to happen. So, the first one had to be it.

William’s mood instantly fucked up. If he’d known this earlier, he would’ve just tossed that bastard to Mutt and let him have some fun biting that shit to death. Now he wasn’t expecting a single decent thing out of the rewards. With a sigh and zero hope, he scrolled down to his inventory.

Inventory:

Tower Core (Tier One)

Floor Expansion Card (Normal)

Goblin Dungeon (One respawn left)

Spicy Honey (5,000g)

Elemental Stingers x9

Crocorge tail

Raging Hammer (Uncommon)

Tier One Core x10

Wood 1580, Stone 720

2 cartons of Bud

Looking at the haul, he calmed down a bit. The tower core was easily the best prize; another upgrade condition was knocked out. Now, all that was left was some troop requirement that he’d deal with later. Out of everything else, he was keeping the floor expansion card, cores, and the booze cartons. The rest? Straight to the regional market. He could get at least a few hundred from all the stuff.

He decided to post the crap for sale before crashing, so when he woke up, he could hit the shopping spree. As he opened the regional market, his eyes landed on the number of lords. The number was down by 3000. Not much, considering the fact that there are almost 100,000 lords.

Most of the lords must’ve noped out of the challenges. Some want to prep more before going head-on with other lords; the rest are probably just scared shitless of getting killed.

The tower system hands out a couple of 2-day protection periods per week, even after rejection, so any lord can straight-up reject every challenge and stay alive for a while. But really, that’s just pressing snooze on their deaths.

What the hell are they gonna do when the month ends, and there are still challenges left? Or worse, when tier two challengers start spawning into their trial? Without winning any fights, they’re never making it to tier two anyway

He shook his head at those idiots; there would always be some dimwits who would rather wait for their deaths than do something, and he starting posting the stuff, he had seen spicy honey being sold previously, it only has a good taste no effect at all so it goes for 1TP for every 100g, he added them at 2TP as it was supposedly going to be last batch.

Next up: the used goblin dungeon. It went for 90TP at the bunnies’ store with three respawns, so with just one left, he put it with a 30TP tag on it. The Uncommon hammer had some attribute boost, but it was useless for him, so he tossed it up for 65TP, same as the brute stick.

There was nothing he could see to guess his monster loot’s worth, so he priced the stingers at 10TP each. They could channel affinity, so someone with blacksmith talent would probably want them for weapons. He posted the lizard’s tail for 15TP, considering it is covered with scales.

With everything up for sale, he closed all the panels shut and collapsed onto his pillow with a groan. "Rollie, wake me up in eight hours. Seabas said he would be giving me the best massage of my life."
