Chapter 38: The Woman From Past (III)
Rosalie:
My stomach twisted.
Three Alphas. One mate. The rarity of such a thing was almost unimaginable. Yet somehow it had happened.
Darien quickly continued before I could respond. "As soon as we understood what was happening, everything became complicated."
His voice grew more urgent. "You have to understand, Rose. The drug changed everything."
There it was. The explanation again.
His eyes searched mine. "What happened that night wasn’t planned. It wasn’t something we wanted."
I stared at him in silence for a moment, then at Alastor, and then finally at Kaiser. I watched them slowly and carefully, examining every detail, every reaction, every expression and hesitation.
Then I thought about the story I had just heard. The reception. The drug. The sabotaged vehicles. The hotel. Charlotte appearing at exactly the right moment. The mate bond activating that exact night after years of silence. And everything lining up perfectly, way too perfectly.
The more I thought about it, the less believable it became. Not because the story itself was impossible, but because it felt orchestrated. No matter how I looked at it, that entire night screamed designed.
My eyes returned to Darien, and finally, I spoke.
"Darien."
My voice was calm, dangerously so. And he immediately tensed. I tilted my head slightly. Then asked the question that had been growing louder in my mind with every word of his story.
"Do you honestly not see it?"
His brows furrowed.
I took a slow step forward and then another. "The reception. The drug. The sabotaged cars. The same hotel." I watched their expressions carefully as I continued, "Charlotte suddenly appearing and the mate bond activating that exact night."
The room grew still.
I looked directly at all three of them. Then asked quietly, "Don’t you think that’s far too many coincidences to be a coincidence at all?"
And judging by the expressions that instantly appeared on their faces - that was a question none of them welcomed.
The moment my words settled over the room, I watched yet another shift pass through the faces of the three men standing before me.
Darien looked genuinely confused as though the possibility had never crossed his mind before.
Alastor, on the other hand, reacted exactly as I expected. His expression darkened almost immediately, his blue eyes narrowing as if he already disliked whatever conclusion I was trying to draw before I had even finished drawing it.
But it was Kaiser who surprised me. Because unlike his brothers, he didn’t immediately dismiss my words. He didn’t look offended, nor irritated. Instead, he almost had a thoughtful expression on his face. His brows furrowed as if something had finally clicked into place inside his head. It was as if, for the very first time since that night, he was genuinely reconsidering everything that had happened.
That expression alone was enough to tell me I wasn’t the only one who found the entire story suspicious.
"What exactly are you implying?" Kaiser finally asked. His voice was serious, much more serious than before.
And because they wanted an answer, I gave them one.
"I think there were too many coincidences."
Silence followed.
I crossed my arms over my chest and looked directly at the three of them. "Let’s start with me."
Their attention sharpened instantly.
"I was supposed to attend that reception with you. Everything had already been prepared. And then suddenly I got sick." freewebnoveℓ.com
My gaze shifted between them as I continued, "Back then I didn’t think much of it. But now?" A humorless smile touched my lips. "Now it doesn’t feel like a coincidence anymore."
Nobody spoke. Not even Alastor.
So I continued, "Then somehow somebody managed to drug both of you." I pointed toward Darien and Alastor. "Do you realize how ridiculous that sounds?"
Darien frowned.
I didn’t stop. "People have been trying to get close to you for years. They have tried drugging you countless times in the past, but they never made it past Luxe security checkpoints. Yet somehow someone succeeded that night." fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm
Neither of them had a response.
"Then your cars conveniently stop working and you end up in a hotel... the only hotel nearby. Then somehow Charlotte just happens to be staying there too."
I noticed Darien’s expression becoming increasingly uncomfortable.
Good.
Because I wasn’t finished.
"Not only does she happen to be staying there..." I looked directly at him. "She somehow finds you while you are completely vulnerable, without security, without witnesses, and then she turns out to be your fated mate."
The silence became deafening.
I slowly shook my head and my voice lowered. "No matter how I look at it... there are far too many coincidences."
Nobody moved. Nobody interrupted. Because even they could hear how absurd it sounded when everything was listed together.
"If all of this happened separately, maybe I could believe it." I took a slow breath. "But all of it happened on the same night."
My gaze hardened and I shook my head. "No." The word came out firm. "If these are coincidences, then there are simply too many of them."
The room fell completely silent. It wasn’t the uncomfortable silence from before, not the angry silence. This one felt different. Heavier. Because this time, nobody immediately had a response or could simply explain it away.
Then Kaiser broke the silence. His voice was low, careful, and serious.
"So you are saying..." He paused as if trying to process the thought himself. "You think everything was arranged?"
I noticed Darien stiffen and Alastor’s expression harden further. While Kaiser’s eyes remained fixed on me.
"You think it was all a setup?" His voice lowered even more. "Everything, including-"
He never finished the sentence. But he didn’t need to.I knew exactly whose name he was about to say.
Charlotte.
The name hung unspoken between us. And before Kaiser could say it aloud, Alastor cut him off.
"Enough."
The single word echoed through the room. I turned toward him. His expression had become colder than ever.
"Rosalie is taking things out of context."
Of course, there it was again. Taking things out of context - the phrase was becoming his favorite defense.
"She already has prejudice against Charlotte because of what happened in the past."
