Chapter 35: Mine

Grim’s eyes softened at his beautiful woman and never imagined she was this hardworking.

He had stayed behind, watching her work tirelessly without taking a single break until he eventually fell asleep. Hell, would he leave her all by herself in this strange building?

And it scared him to know she usually stays up this late all by herself, unprotected and open to the slightest harm.

’’I had a bad dream while I slept. Do you want to know about it?’’ he said, not raising his head.

Corrine rolled her eyes. ’’No, thank you. I am not your therapist.’’

That made him smile, feeling much better as he moved away from the table he leaned on.

He was so strange.

Corrine felt even more restless as he began to gather his things. She brought her hands together, holding on tightly to her purse as she stared everywhere.

Grim rose to his full height, towering over her by many inches as he came close.

Corrine hated herself for not leaving when she had the chance. Hell, she was not feeling like the boss anymore with her eyes fixed on her heels as he came close. And why was she sweating? Finding it hard to breathe and focus?

What was this?

What was this?

Henry does not make her feel this uncomfortable—hell, her heart was literally pounding hard in her chest.

Could it be because of cancer?!

Grim leaned just enough to find her face and hoped to lock eyes with her when she kept avoiding him.

’’My heartless and breathtaking beautiful Boss,’’ he teased and that was more than enough for her to fire him a deadly glare.

He loved it.

He loved every part of it and understood why this punishment needs to be freed by her and no one else. He genuinely finds her interesting and likes her a lot.

He pulled back a bit to admire her from head to toe feeling proud to call her his.

’’You really hate me that much that you plan to cripple me, aren’t you?’’ he said, removing his gloves a bit to show her his slightly swollen fingers and wrist. He wore the gloves properly and not before Corrine caught sight of the intricate markings running along the backs of his hands.

She looked at him again, smiling like an idiot and she thought of confronting him again why he was doing this to her but scared he would bring up what he saw her doing the other day...

Corrine cleared her throat, ’’Serves you right.’’

Grim’s eyes brightened a bit in disbelief though she probably didn’t mean it but anyways...

’’Good night.’’

She turned quickly to leave the room, stepping out so fast she didn’t wait to lock the doors.

She shouldn’t be in the same space, alone with a stalker.

Corrine stepped out of the building, Grim followed behind her. She moved fast over to the parking lot of the building and Corrine wondered why the hell he was still following her!

’’Do you perhaps need help finding your way home?’’ Corrine asked, feeling frustrated and already on the verge of crying when he kept following her towards her car. She turned to him, hoping he would finally take pity on her and let her breathe for a moment.

’’Oh, I actually have a car parked and waiting for....’’

His eyes returned on her with a subtle mischievous glint in them. He felt like he had been slapped in the face by an invisible hand, screaming, use your brain. Idiot!

Grim eased into a more relaxed stance before her worried figure. An innocent almost pitiful look on him as he said in a ridiculous humble tone, ’’I mean, I would appreciate any help you can render.’’

WHAT!

Corrine couldn’t believe she was hearing this now.

What does he mean by needing my help to get home?! How did he arrive here this morning in the first place?!

She sighed, fishing out her phone from her purse and Grim wondered why she needed her phone to unlock her car doors.

’’Where do you live so I can book you a ride?’’ She asked, while opening a ride app on her phone. Grim frowned, looking over at her car and could not believe she was serious.

’’It’s...hard to describe...?’’ he said, not believing this human and how far she was willing to go to prevent them from being together tonight.

’’Don’t worry, describe it however you can. This ride, their drivers are more intelligent than you think.’’

Grim didn’t like it, feeling a bit nervous as she was not giving him any chances.

’’Yes?’’ She asked, waiting for his call. Grim touched the back of his ear briefly and said.

’’But I don’t have any money on me.’’

Corrine scoffed, nice try.

Exercising the patience of a monk, she said, ’’Don’t worry. I will be removing it from your first pay.’’

Grim was blown by her will to stop him from having his way tonight.

’’The address?’’

He sighed. Staring down at her as she stubbornly refused to even spare him a glance.

Have mercy on me, will you?

He was this close to begging her.

Instead of his house address, he removed a bunch of papers, neatly stapled together and bound by a hard cover and presented it to her.

Corrine looked up from her phone to see a detailed report of the assignment she gave him hours ago.

’’I was just three minutes and thirty seconds close to the deadline you gave.’’

He said, handling her the report. She collected it and stared at the words scribbled in what should have been crowned as the finest handwriting in existence.

Corrine didn’t understand.

How did he...why did he...huh?

How was he able to do something that could have been deemed impossible for any sane, normal functioning human being?!

’’I refused all help like you wanted and I hope this will show you how serious I am about you.’’

The confession froze every thought in her head. freewēbnoveℓ.com

Corrine didn’t realize how long she stared at him without blinking. It was until he finally turned around and started heading towards a black car with these unusual golden rims she noticed how long she held her breath for.

His report in her hold as she watched him leave, heading towards that car. She moved when he paused and faced her with that carefree smile of his.

’’You have an interesting sense of humor when you think I will be interested in any other thing in this world and not you.’’

She blushed even if she had stopped functioning minutes ago.

’’Good night, boss.’’ He waved freely before stepping inside the car and it wasn’t until the car drove out of the parking lot that she blinked, trying to understand what that meant.

Corrine got home and didn’t even wait to change into her night dress before stopping at the kitchen table to confirm if he indeed did a rewrite of everything.

Page after page, she read, her polished nails trailing over his beautiful handwriting and she was deeply captivated by his ability, she no longer believed he was human.

At the end of the report, she noticed a few things scribbled messily at the bottom of the last page. It was written in such a way he probably believed she wouldn’t notice it or care enough to make it to the last page.

What was written there was simple, yet strangely unsettling.

Annoying.

Sexy.

Jealous.

Beautiful.

Mine.

Corrine gasped.
