Chapter 24: Ten Minutes

’’As you can see, this is no ordinary blade or a kitchen knife.’’

Marcus paled. The only light remaining in the room came from the small table lamp between them. He looked like a ghost being confronted with death again as the gorgeous angel before him flashed him a bone chilling smirk, one enough to arouse his nightmares.

’’It was made from one of my baby teeth...’’ Corrine paused to think about it. ’’...Or rather, baby fang.’’

Marcus sat stiffly on his chair as those warm brown eyes switched to an ominous yet beautiful golden color. He looked like he was struggling to breathe as he listened to her crazy talk! freeweɓnøvel.com

’’It has been with me for a while now,’’ Corrine lightly caressed the sharp, yet curved edges of the silver blade with her index finger. The blade was covered with dark inscriptions and hellish symbols, a drop of golden blood coating the tip as Corrine demonstrated how sharp it was with a taunting smile. ’’I used it to wound my parents once while they were trying to strangle me to death. It’s more of a personal weapon or self-defense in this unfair world.’’

Marcus didn’t blink as he tried to wrap his head around many things happening before him.

’’I like to call it many lovely names like the organ destroyer, teeth ripper, soul pulverizer...heartbreaker?’’

She said, eyes widening in the dark as her target looked already defeated. She didn’t need to guess hard if he was already making a mess of his panties.

’’But I think calling it The departed Marcus Ivan Laundry makes much more sense, don’t you agree?’’ freeweɓnovel.cøm

Marcus trembled—no, he looked seconds away from a heart attack as the angel before him morphed into a devil with deceiving bright, gold eyes.

’’Wh–wh–who are you? What do you want from me?! Get Out!!!’’ Marcus roared, finding his voice again.

’’Oh?’’ Corrine arched her head a bit to the left, staring at the man trying to intimidate her.

What an idiot.

Corrine rose from her seat and Marcus shuddered, mumbling out words in fear as he tried to get away from this devil.

A loud, taunting screeching sound filled the quiet room as Corrine moved around the table, dragging the tip of the blade across the smooth, polished surface.

Marcus turned in his seat, eyes bloodshot as the towering beauty with dead looks stood before him, the knife making long, deadly scratch marks on the table paused and Marcus couldn’t help staring at it in horror.

Somewhere in the distance, the sky rumbled signaling Marcus’ doomed end. The light that flashed through the transparent walls by their left made the figure standing before him look even more dangerous as they stared at each other.

Only the sound of a ticking wall clock filled the tension that followed and Marcus once considered going on his knees and begging to be spared.

The ten minutes were almost up.

Corrine smiled, surprising Marcus when she settled on his lap and leaned close enough to take in his horrible bad breath. It reeked of cigars, cocaine and something else she wasn’t interested in finding out.

Marcus whimpered when the tip of the blade trailed teasingly from his belt, over his large stomach, his heaving chest and pausing right at his bobbing Adam’s apple.

’’You were saying something about this writer having a lovely behind and no real talent. Let’s talk more about it, shall we?’’

Marcus wanted to scream when the tip of the blade made a light cut on his fat, greasy neck.

’’There is a black car waiting outside with golden rims. In exactly ten minutes after I meet with your boss, do lead the woman in the car up here and I will tell no one you tried to take advantage of me in this elevator.’’

Those words sent Abu sprinting down the stairs when he could not wait for the elevator. Sweat poured down his body like rain. His suit jacket removed as he jumped and raced from the top floor to the reception area with his grey shirt and dark matching pants.

’’Give me an umbrella!!!’’ He barked, startling the group of receptionists and clients at the front desk. They all moved back, looking at him horrified as he slammed his hands on the marbled table, panting like a dog being chased by a bear.

A trembling receptionist bent over to pull out a dark umbrella and handed it over to him before pulling back. Everyone paused and stood as they watched their cool and calm Director/PA to the president run out of the building like a mad man.

He didn’t stop to turn on the umbrella as he raced down the flight of stairs to the building. Rain beat mercilessly against his back as he searched in a frenzy for a black car with golden rims that had a woman putting on a fur coat.

’’Ahhhh!!!’’ the couple who just had their car door pulled open screamed. Abu didn’t even apologise as he closed the door and continued his frantic search for something. One that will save his life and career even though he didn’t do anything but the guilt of even thinking about it drove him insane.

As if the heavens pitied him, he finally spotted a luxurious vehicle sitting idly on the other side of the road. The solid gold rims had him racing across the street, almost getting run over by cars and trucks.

He yanked the door of the backseat open, breathing heavily as rainwater dripped from his lips.

A shiny coat made entirely out of luxurious animal fur caught his eye as a woman putting on dark sunshades turned to the mannerless brat.

’’Are you...’’ he asked in between heavy breaths before stepping back to open the umbrella in his hands.

Corrine lightly touched his face, smiling when he could not utter a word. The blade made multiple short bloodied cuts around his neck.

’’Please... please... please...’’ Marcus trembled again as hot tears washed down his face. He was ready to confess all his sins to this dangerous seductress and plead to be spared. Hell, he had hurt so many people and stopped so many with real talents from reaching the top but...

Marcus sobbed like a child, fearing death for the first time in his life.

But he didn’t understand what he did to have her storm into his office seeking revenge.

Hell, he hasn’t even met her before.

’’Why...’’ he sobbed, looking ridiculous. ’’Why are you doing this to me?’’

Corrine decided to explain to him his wrongdoings as she did a little countdown in her head.

’’Because...it’s fun and I’m a demon...’’

Marcus broke down in tears as he heard her say things that made no fucking sense.

’’And I have a lover to protect from the likes of you.’’

The door opened with a quiet click and Corrine threw the blade across the table. She grabbed Marcus’s hands and positioned them on her hips, then she moved close enough to give the illusion of showering hot kisses down his injured neck.

A different click clack sound echoed in the dimmed room. A different scent filled the silence and moaning sounds made by the woman moving on his lap.

Abu gasped and froze as the woman paused beside a strange blade for a while. She bent over to pick it up with dark, pointed nails that resembled those of a tigress.
