Chapter 1069: Chapter 45: Find Out Where Your Sister-in-law Went After 11 PM
Nie Xiaoxing forced her sore eyes wide open. "Say you like me."
Mr. Gu actually got a little embarrassed at that. He lowered his head and sealed Nie Xiaoxing’s lips, his lowered lashes almost completely hiding the look in his eyes.
The corners of Nie Xiaoxing’s lips curled up. She tilted her neck back to respond to him, lightly nipping at his lips bit by bit.
Gu Yan’s breathing grew rougher, and the strength of his arms around her increased.
Nie Xiaoxing reached out and wrapped her arms around Gu Yan’s back, her response to his movements growing bolder and bolder.
Gu Yan’s Adam’s apple bobbed. He pulled Nie Xiaoxing tighter against him, and soon there wasn’t a sliver of space left between them, their bodies fitting together perfectly.
The temperature in the car climbed, notch by notch. Their kiss grew more and more heated, their lips like two magnets; once pressed together, it was almost impossible to separate them.
Only when both of them were a little out of breath did their sticky, clinging lips slowly part.
Their gazes quickly swept over each other’s lips.
Seeing the other’s lips flushed, swollen and full, both of them lowered their lashes slightly and held each other tightly.
Gu Yan pressed a kiss to Nie Xiaoxing’s ear and said hoarsely, "I’ll go buy some medicine. Come back with me and I’ll put it on for you?"
Nie Xiaoxing’s face flushed red as she muffled a laugh, lifting a hand to swat his shoulder. "Who wants to go to your place to put on medicine?"
"You do."
Gu Yan rubbed his cheek against her soft hair, speaking with perfect self-assurance.
Nie Xiaoxing hooked her arms over his shoulders, resting her chin on his hard shoulder bone. "I’m fine, I don’t need medicine. It’s getting late. Let me go back, okay?"
"I don’t want to."
Gu Yan tightened his arms. "Little Xing’er, come home with me."
"You can’t just decide you want something and then insist on getting it right away. You have to give me a little time to think." Nie Xiaoxing said quietly.
"All I want is to have you move in with me right now and live with me." Gu Yan buried his face in her neck as he spoke.
Nie Xiaoxing’s hands slipped from his shoulders and gently stroked his back. Her gaze went past the car window to the outside. "My parents were really shaken up tonight. If I go with you and leave them here alone, they’ll definitely feel very uneasy.
Let me stay here with them for a few days. Once they’ve calmed down, I’ll move in with you. That’s reasonable, right?"
Gu Yan stayed silent.
Obviously, he felt what Nie Xiaoxing said was reasonable. If he kept refusing, he’d just seem heartless and selfish.
But deep down, Gu Yan really didn’t want to let Nie Xiaoxing go back.
So he simply didn’t say anything.
Nie Xiaoxing fell silent as well, her hand stroking his back over and over, not even sure if she was soothing Gu Yan or soothing herself.
...
In the end, Gu Yan still couldn’t win against Nie Xiaoxing. Reluctant in every possible way, he let her go back to the apartment.
After Nie Xiaoxing left, Gu Yan sat in the car and slowly began to sense that something was off.
He had personally driven Nie Xiaoxing back to the apartment and watched with his own eyes as she walked into the building.
But when Yan Shu’s people got to the apartment, only Fu Ruyi and Nie Fangsheng were there; she was already out.
So when did she go out?
And where did she go?
Gu Yan’s long brows furrowed. He picked up his phone, ready to call Nie Xiaoxing’s number and ask her.
But the second before the call went through, Gu Yan suddenly changed his mind and dialed another number instead.
The call was picked up quickly. "Boss."
"Check where your sister-in-law went after eleven tonight for me!" Gu Yan ordered domineeringly.
"...Boss, why are you checking up on her?"
"None of your damn business! I told you to check, so check!" Gu Yan snapped, then hung up in a way that fully suited his status as the boss!
After hanging up, Gu Yan’s fingers clamped around the phone. His starry eyes stared gloomily in the direction of the apartment building, a faint hint of ruthlessness showing through his cold, stern features.
Half an hour later, Gu Yan finally got out of the car, walked around to the driver’s seat, got in, and drove away from the apartment.
...
Nie Xiaoxing returned to the apartment.
Nie Fangsheng had already gone to bed.
Just as she expected, Fu Ruyi was still awake, sitting on the sofa in a daze.
Nie Xiaoxing pressed her lips together and walked over to sit beside her. "It’s over now. Go rest."
Fu Ruyi started, her unfocused eyes slowly shifting from some distant point to land on Nie Xiaoxing’s face.
Nie Xiaoxing looked at her. "Go to sleep."
Fu Ruyi stared at Nie Xiaoxing for a long moment, then suddenly reached out and gripped one of Nie Xiaoxing’s hands. "Xiao Xing, I’m sorry. I failed you."
There wasn’t a ripple on Nie Xiaoxing’s face, her gaze as calm as still water.
"Xiao Xing, I’m sorry, I really am."
Fu Ruyi’s grip on Nie Xiaoxing’s hand grew tighter and tighter, as if she were in a panic. Her face flushed and paled by turns as she said, "Back then it was my fault. I wronged you. I’m not fit to be a mother.
If you resent me, if you never forgive me for the rest of your life, it’s all my own doing. I deserve it!"
