Chapter 122: Chapter 122 Bloodied Declaration
Bella’s POV
"What the hell are you doing, Serena?" Derek’s voice cut through the tension like a blade as he clamped his palm across her mouth. "She’s deliberately trying to drive a wedge between us," he growled, forcibly dragging her from the room.
The instant they vanished through the doorway, the air became suffocating.
I stood frozen, uncertain where to position myself, what thoughts to entertain, or how to halt the sensation of my world crumbling beneath my feet.
"Would you like to sit? Maybe catch your breath?" Hugo’s voice carried genuine concern.
"I need to leave this place." I refused to meet his gaze, simply shaking my head firmly.
"I don’t care if the hurricane carries me off, I cannot remain in this house another moment." My voice fractured as I lunged toward the door, but Hugo’s reflexes proved quicker, his palm slamming against the wooden frame, blocking my escape route.
"The reports advised everyone to remain indoors," he emphasized. "This isn’t an ordinary storm, it’s supernatural. Sharp objects, wreckage, everything’s being hurled through the air. People are being impaled by airborne metal fragments. Countless injuries have been reported. It’s a cursed tempest."
His warnings barely penetrated my consciousness. I couldn’t endure staying here.
Not one more second trapped between these alphas pulling me in opposing directions.
"No, Hugo, you’re missing the point." I finally forced myself to look directly into his eyes. "Being impaled would be less painful than remaining here right now."
He drew a long, deliberate breath while standing inches from me. His hand gradually fell away from the doorframe.
"Then I’ll accompany you," he murmured softly. "Personally.
And I’ll ensure you reach safety."
He took the lead as I trailed behind him, moving nervously toward the main area where we would inevitably face the hostile family once more.
This time, upon reaching the staircase, I spotted Lord Morris positioned near the entrance, his arms crossed defensively over his chest.
The moment Hugo descended the final step, he aimed his finger at the elderly man.
"Not one syllable," he cautioned him. freēwēbnovel.com
I observed how Lord Morris’s expression darkened as he glared at Hugo.
"What manner of address is this, boy? Has she caused you to forget proper respect for your superiors?" he demanded.
"After mere moments of private discussion with her, you’ve become an entirely different person?" he challenged Hugo accusingly.
"Already agitated simply because you felt slightly disrespected? Don’t you think you’re attributing too much influence to her? She never instructed me how to treat you. These are my own words. This represents my personal choice. I refuse to allow you to interact with her. Your son has already inflicted sufficient damage on her psychological well-being,"
Hugo responded without restraint.
The reference to Derek, however, instantly brought a malicious grin to Lord Morris’s features.
"Ah, so my son informed you of his decision? That he’s finally determined to pursue DNA testing?" he sneered.
The instant those words left his mouth, my hands formed fists. Derek had already moved several paces forward.
If he had shared this with his father, the matter was essentially settled.
No one could persuade him to reconsider now. Even if he desired to, his father would never permit it.
"She will not be conversing with you at this time,"
Hugo declared, gesturing toward Morris.
"Yet she conversed with Serena. I witnessed her flee into the room with her husband, weeping," Felicia interjected. "Is this what you’ve acquired in the human realm, Bella? The skill to create discord between spouses?"
I couldn’t fathom what prompted Felicia to voice her opinion. She typically remained silent.
But I preferred her quiet, because frankly, she amused me.
Before Hugo could address her comment, I signaled him that I would handle this myself.
I emerged from behind his protective stance and crossed my arms over my chest.
"You’re the individual who dares question what I’ve learned?" I said, watching her arrogant demeanor begin to falter.
A hint of shame colored her features.
"No, genuinely. I simply want to understand how. How does someone possess the audacity to pose such a question?
"I pressed on. "Standing directly beside a man whose entire family she destroyed."
I taunted her and observed her eyes grow wide.
"And before you claim we’re both mistaken, allow me to clarify. I’m not the one who requested DNA testing. Your stepson is destroying my marriage with my husband. Explain to me again, who bears responsibility here? Who is the marriage destroyer?" I corrected her sharply. Remaining silent never truly serves justice.
No one is generous enough to interpret silence as proof of innocence.
"You will not address my wife in this manner," Lord Morris snarled.
"Well, but are you permitted to address her that way?" Hugo countered, putting the old man in his place by highlighting his hypocrisy.
"And I must mention something, Felicia. It appears Hugo inherited the marriage-wrecking behavior from you. He’s following your exact path. Not only is he destroying his own marriage with his wife, but he’s ruining mine as well," I stated while maintaining direct eye contact.
I noticed how she never blinked once, yet her jaw continued tightening and her teeth ground together.
She wanted to assault me with her vicious claws.
Hugo positioned beside me like a barrier was what prevented anyone from reaching me.
She should feel grateful he was present, because without him, I might not have controlled myself and probably would have released my wolf, the grey wolf prepared to tear her apart piece by piece. I knew my wolf possessed that capability. freeωebnovēl.c૦m
Furthermore, it seemed Astra wanted to emerge. Considerable time had passed since she had tasted blood. I could sense it building within me.
"Well, Bella. You’ve expressed your thoughts.
Now the DNA testing will reveal the truth, and we’ll discover how faithful you were to your husband,"
Felicia responded.
As she spoke, I shifted to my left where Derek was exiting his room.
His condition rendered me speechless for several moments.
His face was lacerated so severely that none of us reacted immediately.
"I refuse to remain with Serena any longer. I don’t want an abusive wife like her. I’m informing everyone, I love Bella," Derek announced with split lips, a bleeding nose, and numerous bruises covering his face and neck.
His appearance, combined with his declaration, created absolute silence and sent chills across my skin.
