Chapter 69: Chapter 69
THIRD PERSON POV
The moment Sapphire stormed into her chambers, the door slammed behind her with so much force that the sound echoed through the entire hallway. She was still breathing hard, her chest rising and falling as anger burned through her veins. Her hands were shaking, and she curled them into fists as she paced the room, trying to calm herself down, but the image of Gunnar’s cold eyes and the way he had grabbed her neck kept replaying in her mind. It humiliated her, and she hated that she still felt something whenever he touched her, even if it was anger.
She turned sharply, ready to throw something across the room, but then she froze when she noticed someone sitting on the edge of her bed.
Daphne.
For a moment, Sapphire felt the tension in her body ease, and the anger slowly turned into something else, something softer and more controlled. She let out a breath she did not even realize she was holding and walked further into the room.
Daphne looked up at her, her eyes curious but also calculating. She was dressed casually, her long dark hair falling around her shoulders, and she had that calm expression she always wore when she was observing people.
"How did it go?" Daphne asked, her voice calm but interested.
Sapphire scoffed and walked toward the dresser, pouring herself a drink before answering. "Futile," she said, taking a sip and letting the bitterness settle in her mouth. "He is still as stubborn and hateful as ever. Nothing has changed."
Daphne leaned back slightly, crossing her legs as she watched Sapphire carefully. "That is not surprising. Gunnar has always been difficult to control."
Sapphire turned to face her. "Difficult is an understatement. He looks at me like he wants to kill me."
Daphne gave a small smile. "Maybe he does."
Sapphire rolled her eyes but then her expression grew serious again. "Did you get anything from Laden?"
Daphne shook her head. "Not much. He said we should lie low for now. He believes the brothers are becoming suspicious, and any wrong move could ruin everything."
Sapphire frowned, clearly irritated. "Lying low is boring, and I am tired of waiting."
"You know patience is necessary," Daphne said. "We have come this far, and we cannot risk it now."
Sapphire sighed and walked closer, leaning against the table. "Sebastian told me something interesting today."
Daphne raised a brow. "What?"
Sapphire’s lips curved into a slow smile. "Riley is going to perform the Rite of the Borrowed Moon."
For a second, there was silence.
Then Daphne burst out laughing.
The sound was loud and filled with cruel amusement. She leaned forward, holding her stomach as if she could not stop.
"That girl?" she said between laughs. "That stupid, weak little thing? She will not last a week in that cave."
Sapphire watched her with satisfaction. "Exactly."
Daphne’s laughter slowly faded, but her eyes were still bright with excitement. "I have always wanted to kill that girl," she said, her voice suddenly sharp. "Ever since what happened years ago. I wanted to destroy her with my own hands, but those damn brothers always kept their eyes close on her even while she was married to Ethan then."
Her hands clenched at her sides. "I hate them for that. I hate how they protect her like she is something precious."
Sapphire walked closer, her voice softer now. "But now we do not have to do anything. The Rite will take care of her."
Daphne smirked. "And if it does not, then we will."
Sapphire nodded slowly, but then her expression turned thoughtful. "There is something else."
Daphne looked at her. "What?"
"I have been watching Gunnar," Sapphire said. "Something about him is strange. He looks like he is preparing for something. Like he is going somewhere."
Daphne’s eyes narrowed. "What do you mean?"
"I do not know," Sapphire admitted. "But he is tense. Focused. More than usual. It is as if he is planning something important."
Daphne stood up immediately. "Then we need to find out what it is."
Sapphire watched her, amused. "You are very eager."
"Of course I am," Daphne said. "If Gunnar is hiding something, it could ruin everything we have worked for."
Sapphire stepped closer, her gaze slowly changing. "You are always thinking about plans and revenge." fгeewebnovёl.com
"And you are not?" Daphne asked.
"I am," Sapphire replied. "But I also know when to take a break."
Daphne opened her mouth to respond, but Sapphire suddenly reached out and pushed her against the wall. ƒгeewebnovёl.com
Daphne gasped softly, surprised.
"What are you doing?" she asked, but there was no real resistance in her voice.
Sapphire leaned closer, her hand resting beside Daphne’s head. "I missed you," she said quietly.
Daphne’s expression softened slightly. "It has only been a few days."
"That is too long," Sapphire replied.
She reached for Daphne’s hand and lifted it slowly, her eyes never leaving Daphne’s face. Then she pressed a gentle kiss against her fingers.
Daphne’s breath caught, and for a moment, the tension between them shifted into something warmer and more dangerous as she kissed up to her neck and cleavages.
"May I?" Sapphire asked, smirking and already undoing Daphne’s dress without hesitation.
"You don’t need to ask"
