Chapter 228: Chapter 228
Sebastian’s POV
Amelia stormed into the room like she owned it.
The force from the door slamming against the wall made the slave boy jump off the bed immediately. His eyes widened in fear the moment he saw her standing there.
She looked furious.
Not the usual quiet anger she carried whenever we argued.
This was different.
Her eyes landed briefly on the naked boy standing beside the bed, trembling and trying to cover himself.
"Get out," she ordered coldly.
The boy didn’t wait twice.
He rushed toward the door completely naked, almost tripping over himself as he escaped from the room.
The moment the door shut behind him, silence settled heavily between us.
I turned calmly and continued arranging my clothes properly like her sudden entrance meant nothing to me.
"How did you get out?" I asked without looking at her yet. "I remember tying you to that bed very well, woman."
"My son released me," she replied sharply.
I paused slightly while buttoning my shirt.
"Because apparently," she continued, "your personal guards fear him more than they fear their Alpha King I guess."
That got my attention.
I looked at her slowly.
She stood near the entrance with her shoulders squared, her face hard and serious. Her hair was slightly messy, probably from struggling against the ropes earlier, but it didn’t take away from the fury written all over her face.
She knew exactly how to speak when she wanted to get under my skin.
And it was working.
I finished adjusting my clothes and walked toward the table beside the window, pouring myself a drink calmly before turning back to face her.
"You came all the way here just to insult me?" I asked dryly.
Her expression didn’t change.
"Why did you tie me up, Sebastian?"
I took a sip from the glass.
"You were becoming troublesome."
"Troublesome?" she repeated in disbelief. "Haven’t you heard Gunnar is fighting for his life and you locked me away like some prisoner. News should have reached you about it, besides you have ears everywhere"
I shrugged lightly.
"You’re always been dramatic."
Her jaw tightened.
"Are you involved in what happened to Gunnar?" she dropped directly.
I stayed quiet. That alone made her eyes darken further.
"Did you know about Emberkin?" she pressed. "Ethan too? Wendy? Daphne? Did you know what they planned?"
A small smile pulled at my lips.
"And if I did?" I asked calmly. "What exactly are you going to do about it?"
The atmosphere changed instantly. Her breathing deepened slightly, and I watched her fists clench slowly at her sides.
For a moment she didn’t answer. Then she stepped closer.
"If I find out," she said slowly, her voice low and dangerous, "that you are somehow involved in trying to kill Gunnar..."
She stopped directly in front of me. "I will kill you with my own hands."
I laughed. Actually fucking laughed.
Not because it was funny, but because of how serious she looked saying it.
"You?" I said, amused. "Kill me?"
"Yes."
"You’ve gotten bold lately after eight years of your madness confinement."
"A madness that will consume you soon"
I took another sip from my drink before setting the glass down.
"Careful, Amelia," I warned. "You’re speaking to your Alpha."
"And you are speaking to the mother of the sons you keep trying to destroy."
That irritated me immediately. My expression hardened.
"You think too highly of Gunnar," I said coldly. "That boy has always been a threat to me, he’s no son to me."
"He is your son."
"He’s reckless," I corrected. "Disobedient. The pack listens to him too much."
"Because unlike you, he actually cares about people."
I stepped toward her immediately.
"And that is exactly why he would ruin everything I built."
She didn’t back away. Not even a step.
"He would make a better Alpha than you Sebastian," she said firmly.
My eyes narrowed."You should watch your mouth."
"Or what?" she challenged me. "You’ll tie me up again? Lock me away because you can’t control your own family anymore?"
"You think those son of yours respects you?" I asked harshly. "You think they do? They obey you because I allow them to breathe under my rule."
She scoffed openly.
"No," she replied. "They obey because they pity you and trust me, they could kill you if I ask them to."
That hit harder than I expected.
I grabbed her arm instantly and pulled her closer.
"Careful," I warned again through clenched teeth.
But Amelia didn’t flinch.
"I have spent years watching you turn into this," she said. "Years watching your obsession with power consume every part of you."
I released her arm roughly."You know nothing."
"I know enough Sebastian."
She looked around the room briefly, disgust clear on her face before her eyes returned to me.
"You lock me away while you lie in bed with man slaves and plan against your own blood."
"I do what an Alpha has to do."
"No," she snapped. "You do what a coward does." free𝑤ebnovel.com
That made anger rise sharply inside me.
"You think Gunnar deserves this pack?" I asked loudly. "That fool can barely control himself."
"He has more honor than you." ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
"He’s weak."
"He’s kind."
"He’s dangerous."
"He’s loved," she fired back immediately.
Silence followed that. A dangerous silence.
I stared at her while my jaw tightened.
She wasn’t afraid of me. That was the problem.
The woman standing in front of me now wasn’t the same quiet Luna who tolerated my decisions years ago.
Something had changed and I didn’t like it.
"You’ve been poisoning them against me haven’t you?," I accused.
Her brows furrowed slightly. "Poisoning who?"
"Our sons."
A bitter laugh left her lips.
"I didn’t need to poison anyone against you, Sebastian. You did that yourself."
I looked away briefly, trying to steady my temper before I did something reckless.
"Gunnar was stabbed," she continued. "And instead of helping, you chained me to a bed to stop me from going to him isn’t it? As soon as you heard the news."
"You still haven’t proven I had anything to do with it."
"But you know something."
I smirked faintly."That bothers you, doesn’t it?"
She stared at me hard. "Did you know about the Blackbane core?"
I didn’t answer. That alone was enough for her.
Her face changed instantly with disappointment. Pure disappointment.
"You really are involved," she whispered.
I rolled my shoulders lazily. "And what if I am?"
Tears gathered in her eyes briefly, but she forced them back before they could fall.
"You’re sick. What kind of a father despises their own blood and sees them as threats"
I laughed again. "No," I replied calmly. "I’m only being practical."
"You’re trying to kill your own son."
"I’m protecting my throne."
"From Gunnar? Caden? Cane?" she asked in disbelief. "Your own children?"
"They stopped stopped being just mine the moment he became a threat."
Amelia stared at me like she no longer recognized the man standing in front of her.
"You disgust me," she said quietly.
"That feeling is mutual."
She shook her head slowly. "You know what the worst part is?" she asked.
I didn’t respond.
"I used to defend you before."
That made me pause slightly.
"Even after all your cruelty, I defended you to them," she continued. "I kept telling myself there was still some part of you left worth saving."
She laughed bitterly. "But I was wrong."
I folded my arms.
"You’re emotional."
"No," she replied firmly. "I’m done trying to make you have sense."
The room fell quiet again, then she turned around.
For a second, I thought she was finally leaving.
She walked toward the door slowly before suddenly stopping midway.
Without turning fully, she spoke again. "If you ever pull something like this again against any of my sons..."
Her voice was calm now as I watched her carefully.
She turned her head slightly just enough for me to see the deadly seriousness in her eyes.
"I will kill you for real this time."
I didn’t speak.
There was no joke in her voice. No exaggeration. Nothing emotional about it. She meant every word.
"I will use every strength I have as Luna to fight you," she continued. "Every single one."
A cold feeling settled heavily in my chest. Because I knew exactly what that meant.
An Alpha and Luna fighting each other with full strength never ended well.
One of them always died. Sometimes both.
Amelia took another step toward the door before stopping again.
"And pray," she added quietly, "that nothing happens to Gunnar."
My jaw tightened slightly. Because this time her voice sounded different and final.
"If Gunnar dies..." she continued slowly, "I will start a revolt with you myself."
Then she looked back at me fully. "And I promise you, Sebastian..."
Her eyes locked onto mine coldly. "You won’t live to tell the story."
