Chapter 181: Chapter 181

Riley’s POV

When I opened my eyes, the first thing I noticed was that I was no longer in the room.

There was no bed, no walls, no door, no Cane lying unconscious beside me, and no sign of Summer standing in front of me like before.

Everything around me had completely changed, and for a few seconds I just stood there trying to understand how I got here so fast without even feeling anything happen in between.

I stayed where I was and turned slowly, checking every direction carefully because I didn’t want to miss anything important, but the more I looked around, the more confused I got.

The place didn’t look like anywhere I had been before, and it didn’t look like somewhere random either. It felt like I had been brought here on purpose, like this place had a reason for existing and I had just been dropped into it without any explanation.

"Summer?" I called out, my voice sounding louder than I expected in the silence.

There was no answer.

I waited for a few seconds, thinking maybe she would respond or step out from somewhere, but nothing happened, and that made me slightly annoyed because she was the one who told me to close my eyes in the first place.

"You better not have left me here alone," I said under my breath, not really expecting a reply but still hoping for one.

Even as I said that, I already knew she hadn’t done something careless like that, because Summer wasn’t stupid and she definitely wasn’t reckless, especially after everything that had already happened earlier. She wouldn’t put me in danger without warning me first, and she wouldn’t disappear if she thought I needed her here.

Still, it didn’t change the fact that I was standing alone in a place I didn’t understand.

I took a few steps forward, moving slowly and paying attention to everything around me because I didn’t know what to expect. I didn’t feel like I was in danger, but I also didn’t feel comfortable, and that made me stay alert.

I was about to call Summer again when I heard a voice behind me.

"My daughter finally brought you here." a feminine voice spoke.

The voice was calm and clear, and it didn’t sound threatening, but it still made me react immediately. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com

I turned around fast.

And the moment I saw the person, I completely froze.

For a few seconds, I couldn’t even blink properly because my brain just refused to accept what I was seeing.

There was no way.

There was absolutely no way this was real.

I stared at her without saying anything, my mouth slightly open as I tried to process everything, but nothing made sense. I had imagined a lot of things in my life, I had seen a lot of strange things recently, but this... this was different.

"Wait..." I said slowly, my voice low and confused. "No... this doesn’t make sense."

She didn’t move.

She just stood there, looking at me like she already knew exactly what I was thinking, and the small smile on her face made it even harder to understand what was going on.

Because I knew her.

Or at least... I was supposed to, I have seen her in my memories.

Carian, my supposed sister.

But the problem was that I didn’t remember her properly, and yet I still knew it was her, and that alone made everything feel even more messed up.

I kept staring at her, trying to connect the face in front of me with something in my memory, but there was nothing clear enough to hold onto, and that frustrated me more than anything else.

She watched me for a while, like she was giving me time to adjust, and then she finally spoke again.

"Are you going to keep staring at me like that," she said calmly, "or are you going to come closer?"

Her tone wasn’t harsh, but it wasn’t soft either. It sounded like she expected me to listen.

I blinked quickly, trying to pull myself together.

"I don’t..." I started, but I didn’t even know what I was trying to say.

She tilted her head slightly, still looking at me in a way that made it obvious she wasn’t surprised by my reaction.

"Come here, Aemoria or Riley," she said again.

And for some reason, I listened.

I didn’t argue.

My feet just moved on their own, and before I could stop myself, I was already walking toward her step by step until I was standing right in front of her.

Up close, it only got worse.

Because now I could see her clearly, and everything about her felt too real to be fake, but at the same time too unreal to make sense.

She reached out her hand slowly and I didn’t pull back.

Her fingers wrapped around mine gently, and before I could react, she pulled me forward into a hug.

It happened so fast that I didn’t have time to prepare for it.

My body stiffened immediately because I wasn’t expecting that kind of contact, especially not from someone I didn’t even fully remember.

But then something happened.

The moment she held me, everything in my head started changing.

I didn’t understand it at first, but then it hit me all at once.

Memories.

Not one or two, but a lot of them.

They came fast and strong, like something had been unlocked inside my head, and I had no control over it.

I saw myself younger.

I saw moments that felt familiar but also distant.

I saw her.

Carian.

We were together in those memories.

Talking, arguing, laughing, doing normal things like we had known each other forever, and the more I saw, the more confused I got because none of this was in my memory before, and yet it all felt real.

I could hear voices, I could see expressions, I could feel the emotions in those moments, and it made my chest tighten because I knew these weren’t fake.

These were mine.

They had always been mine.

And somehow they were taken away from me.

My breathing changed, and I grabbed onto her slightly because I needed something to hold onto while everything rushed through my head.

It didn’t stop.

It kept coming.

More and more.

Until I saw one moment clearly.

Her standing right in front of me.

Smiling.

Saying something I couldn’t hear.

And that was when I pulled away from her suddenly.

I stepped back, breathing harder than before, my heart beating fast as I tried to steady myself.

"What was that?" I asked, my voice not as steady as I wanted it to be.

She didn’t look surprised at all.

In fact, she looked like she expected that reaction.

"Don’t worry," she said calmly.

I stared at her, feeling irritated by that response.

"What do you mean don’t worry?" I asked, my tone sharper now.

"I’m going to help you remember everything," she said.

I frowned."What are you talking about?"

"All the memories Mom and Dad took from you,"
