Chapter 159: Chapter 159

Ethan’s POV

Pain hit me first.

Not something I could shake off easily, but heavy and sharp, spreading through my skull like something had slammed into it hard enough to leave everything ringing.

I groaned slightly as my eyes forced themselves open, my vision blurry at first before it slowly started to clear.

The ceiling above me was unfamiliar.

That was the first thing I noticed.

This was not my house.

My brows pulled together immediately, and I tried to move, but the moment I did, I felt it.

Tightness. Restricting.

My wrists were bound.

My body tensed instantly, and I looked down as much as I could, my jaw tightening when I realized I was tied to a chair.

"What the hell..." I muttered under my breath, my voice rough from the dryness in my throat.

I tried to pull my hands free, testing the restraints, but the more I moved, the tighter and painful they felt, like they were reacting to my struggle instead of loosening.

My chest rose with irritation, anger building fast as the memory hit me.

Someone had attacked me.

From behind.

Coward.

I clenched my jaw and pulled harder against the restraints, ignoring the way they tightened further around my wrists.

"Who the hell dares to—"

"If I were you, I wouldn’t struggle against those binds."

The voice cut through the room smoothly.

Calm. And very familiar.

My head snapped up.

Wendy.

She stepped into view slowly, a smirk already on her lips like she had been waiting for this moment. She had a little cut on her lips.

"The more you fight it" she continued, walking closer, "the weaker you get."

I stopped pulling for a second, my eyes locking onto hers.

And then I laughed.

"So this is your doing?" I asked, leaning back slightly despite the restraints, like I was not even bothered by them.

Her smirk widened a little."Of course it is," she replied.

I let my gaze travel over her slowly, taking her in properly, and I did not bother hiding the look in my eyes.

Interest.

Possession.

Something darker.

"You went through all this trouble just to get me alone, all tied up?" I said, my voice lower now, almost teasing.

Her expression didn’t change.

"If that’s how you want to see it," she replied coolly.

I leaned forward as much as the restraints allowed, testing them again, not pulling, just feeling how they reacted.

Interesting.

"You could have just asked nicely you know," I added, my gaze still on her. "You know I would have listened if you hadn’t made me angry."

She rolled her eyes slightly, clearly unimpressed.

"I didn’t bring you here for that," she said.

I smiled.

"That’s not what your eyes are saying."

That made her pause for a second.

Just a second. But I saw it.

And that was enough.

"You’re still crazy with your ridiculous obsession thinking anyone wants a psychopath like you?," I continued, my tone calm but deliberate. "After everything."

Her eyes narrowed slightly as she added. freewebnovel.cσ๓

"You should be more concerned about your situation," she replied.

"I am," I said, my smile not fading. "I’m concerned you didn’t do this sooner though."

That irritated her.

I could see it clearly now.

Good.

Because no matter where I was, no matter what she thought she had done, I was not the one losing here.

She was.

"You really think you’re in control right now?" she asked, her voice sharper now.

"I know I am," I replied.

Her jaw tightened slightly.

I shifted in my seat again, testing the restraints carefully, feeling the way they reacted, how they tightened when I pulled too hard.

Smart.

But not enough.

"You had someone hit me from behind," I said, my tone dropping slightly. "That’s not something someone in control does."

"That’s something someone smart does," she shot back.

I chuckled."Smart?" I repeated. "Or scared?"

That did it.

Her expression hardened.

"I’m not scared of you Ethan," she said.

"You should be," I replied without hesitation.

Silence filled the room for a second.

Then she stepped closer, stopping right in front of me, her gaze locked onto mine.

"You’re tied to a chair," she said slowly. "You’re not in a position to threaten anyone."

I tilted my head slightly, studying her face, the tension in her jaw, the way her eyes flickered just a little too much.

"You’re wrong," I said quietly.

Her brows pulled together slightly."How?" she asked.

"Because you didn’t kill me and you don’t want to kill me," I replied.

That made her pause.

And I leaned forward slightly again, my voice lowering even more.

"If you really wanted me gone," I continued, "you would’ve done it already."

Her eyes narrowed again, but this time there was something else there.

Hesitation.

"And yet here I am," I added, my gaze not leaving hers. "Very much alive."

She straightened slightly, stepping back just a little.

"That can change," she said.

I smiled again.

"Then do it," I said.

She didn’t move. Of course she didn’t.

"You don’t have the nerve," I added softly.

Her hand clenched slightly at her side.

"You don’t know what I’m capable of," she replied.

"I do," I said calmly. "Better than anyone."

Another silence.

"You should start thinking about what happens next," she said finally.

"Oh, I have," I replied.

"And?" she asked.

I leaned back slightly again, as much as the restraints allowed, completely relaxed despite the situation.

"When I get out of here," I said slowly, "I’m coming for you."

Her lips pressed together slightly.

"You won’t get out," she replied.

"I will," I said.

"No," she said, shaking her head slightly now. "You won’t."

I smiled again, wider this time.

"You sound like you’re trying to convince yourself," I said.

Her patience snapped.

"Which is why I’m going to make sure you never get out," she said, her voice cold now.

That made me laugh. And it clearly threw her off.

"Did you forget?" I asked, my tone shifting slightly now, becoming more serious.

Her brows pulled together. "Forget what?" she asked.

I looked at her carefully, watching her expression as I spoke.

"What happened in the past," I said.

She froze just for a second.

"When you and Daphne," I continued slowly, "killed Riley’s foster parents."

Her face went completely still. And that told me everything I needed.

"You think I came into this blind? I have everyone at leverage" I added. "If anything happens to me," I said, my voice calm but firm, "there’s someone who has the footage."

Her eyes snapped to mine.

"And when I don’t show up," I continued, "they release it."

The silence in the room felt heavier now.

More dangerous.

"Not just to a few people," I added. "To everyone."

Her breathing changed slightly.

"Now imagine that," I said, my gaze still locked onto hers. "Everyone finding out what you did."

Her jaw tightened again."You’re lying," she said.

I smiled. "Oh- am I?" I asked.

She didn’t "answer.

"Because if I’m not," I continued, "then you don’t just face punishment for murder."

I leaned forward slightly again."You get hunted," I finished. "When the Alphas hear about it."
