Chapter 737: Chapter 514: Hammerhead Dragon’s Lair
Bang! Splash!
As the ankylosaurus’s powerful tail whipped the surface, a massive spray of water shot up.
As it and the underwater dinosaur got closer to the shore, Li Long seized the chance to get a clear look at its face.
This water dragon was not particularly large, about the same size as Li Long, slightly larger than Ayaron.
Its body resembled a crocodile, but its tail and mouth were longer, with shark-like dorsal fins on its back.
Its limbs weren’t like a crocodile’s legs, but rather turtle-like flipper fins.
Despite relying on its advantages in the water, it could battle the massive ankylosaurus without falling behind, even subtly overpowering it, showing its formidable strength.
"I didn’t expect such a creature to be hiding in the water."
This made Li Long sigh, realizing that he must be more careful when drinking from the water’s edge in the future.
"Come on, come on! Keep fighting, just a bit more effort!"
Meanwhile, Ayaron was earnestly cheering both sides on because it wanted to eat meat.
From the looks of things, the ankylosaurus was certainly not inclined to continue the battle.
It only wanted to escape this watery predicament quickly and reach the shore safely.
After all, the water level was rising; the deeper it got, the more dangerous it became for it.
As for the crocosaurus, it clearly planned to seize this opportunity—the rare mountain flood allowed it to come here, and it wouldn’t let itself leave without some good food to spur its evolution.
The differing mindsets of the two, combined with the environmental advantages and disadvantages, further bridged their strength gap.
And the closer it got to the shore, the more ferocious the crocosaurus became.
After all, once the opponent got on land, it would entirely lose its opportunity.
Fierce attacks rendered the ankylosaurus quickly battered and bruised, thoroughly enraging it.
Moreover, the ankylosaurus seemed to understand that the land was its home turf.
So, seizing the chance to bite down hard on the crocosaurus, it refused to let go, aiming to drag its opponent up the slope and then deal with it.
At this moment, Li Long and Ayaron, using the wet shrubbery, activated [Green Camouflage], unbeknownst to the two dragons locked in a life-or-death struggle that there were opportunists waiting to strike.
And as events unfolded, it seemed they were moving towards a perfect storyline.
When the ankylosaurus finally succeeded in dragging the crocosaurus ashore, it was utterly exhausted itself.
[Graaah roar!!]
The crocosaurus, also spent, knew victory was at hand, and forced itself to bite the ankylosaurus’s throat.
It needed a few bites to regain strength before having the energy to drag the big creature back to the water to feast on slowly.
"Wooong!"
But just as the crocosaurus bit through its opponent’s throat, it suddenly felt a sharp pain in its foreflippers.
Looking down, it saw an iron-headed little dragon had somehow approached and started gnawing at its foreflippers.
"Whoo! Awooo!"
In the next instant, its other foreflipper was also fiercely bitten.
The attacker was a little dragon seemingly clad in white.
[Graaah roar!!]
The conflict with the ankylosaurus hadn’t phased the crocosaurus, but now it truly panicked.
Because if it lost its foreflipper control, it would lose most of its mobility.
If that happened, it wouldn’t be able to swim freely in the water—maybe not even return to the water.
[Graaah roar!!]
Thus, it used its last ounce of strength, desperately flailing its flippers, trying to shake off these two pesky creatures.
At this point, it would even abandon its spoils just to escape back to the water.
After all, life is precious.
But Li Long and Ayaron had agreed that no matter how much their bodies were hurled against the ground, they would not let go: they must shred the flippers, ideally breaking them.
Eventually, before they succeeded in destroying the flippers, the crocosaurus was the one to be fatigued first.
The two dragons exchanged glances, then lunged at its head in unison.
"Wooong!"
"Awooo!"
Before long, the crocosaurus with ambitions for purity met its bitter end.
"Don’t say anything, just start eating."
Seeing Ayaron still wanted to speak, Li Long quickly signaled for it to shut up.
There’s so much meat from these two; if they have a proper meal, perhaps they’ll level up twice.
But the water level was still rising, and it wasn’t certain if any other threats lurked in the water—right now, the goal was to eat as much as possible.
"Awooo!"
Ayaron dove in first towards the ankylosaurus, starting to gobble down its soft belly.
Li Long was unwilling to be outdone, joining in the feast.
At such times, the speed of eating showed its potency.
Before the flood reached them, Li Long had quickly devoured both the ankylosaurus and crocosaurus.
He gained a level from each and acquired evolutionary capabilities.
Whereas Ayaron managed to barely devour the ankylosaurus.
Given its lower level, it needed less evolutionary energy than Li Long, meaning in terms of eating speed, it barely reached half of Li Long’s pace.
Even though Ayaron still wanted to continue eating the crocosaurus, Li Long noticed several water dragons swiftly swimming over, so he hurriedly pulled Ayaron further up the slope.
After reaching a temporarily safe height, both dragons began examining their gains.
First was Ayaron, who acquired a skill called [Durian Skin], which let its scaly skin sprout grainy, hard spikes.
Although it made Ayaron look uglier, with the existing [Steel Body] iron-skin ability, its defense and threat levels were further enhanced.
